I really wish Bioware had made it so that if Shepard survives the final mission both Garrus and Tali must also survive (that way they would be guaranteed to be in the next game without continuity problems).

And I'm not even talking about any romance aspect. These were the only two characters that have stuck with Shepard through thick and thin, if they are not playable squad members in ME3, I don't know if I'd want to play it.
Don't get me wrong, I like all the characters in ME2, I won't at all contest that. I really hope there's a way to Thane in ME3 as he's my favorite new character. But to leave Garrus and Tali would take something away from the game for me personally.

I would be pissed if Tali and Garrus end up like ash/kaiden/liara and are made with small roles, I think they will sadly as they kept ME1 LIs out because they could die I doubt they will do much for your dead or potentially dead team.Darastryx wrote...
I'm with Garrus and Tali as Shepard's go to wingman/woman. They've been faithful to Shepard so far in the trilogy, why not just close out the storyline with them at his side?

Bioware thuroughly made sure that every little decision that the we made in ME1 came over in some way to ME2. If they didnt keep Tali as a party member in ME3, alot of people, and all the the people posting on this thread by the looks of it, would have a great negative response to such horrific action, that i dought it has entered the mind of the devs at all.Ryouseiken wrote...
I'd love to see her in ME3 too!
Just one problem...
... what if she dies in ME2?We want her to be a squad member for the whole game and to have lots of lines (same with Garrus for me) but since its possible that they could have died in ME2, bioware might think "Oh... why waste so much time doing voice-acting and animations when the character probably is dead in most people's files? *DUBS MINOR APPEARANCE LIKE ASHLEY/KAIDAN/WREX if she's alive*"
Don't kill me peoples, just asking D:
As for seeing her face or not, im all in, tho dont make it happen at the expense of her having a diminished role in some way, shape or form(i was totally bummed when i initially couldn't recruit her at the start

I also fear that all the *surviving* crew members from ME2 will be reduced to bit parts (akin to Wrex). I understand that it would be extremely difficult to bring many back (especially given the number of combinations for the ending) but Garrus and Tali are fan favorites. Why couldn't they have been spared?! WHY?!?!?!?!
This is a big fear that alot of people are having...and understandably so. Personaly i don't think they have the time to introduce new charecters...at least not in a way that makes all the development of the charecters in mass effect 2 trite and arbitrary.
I think a lot of people tried thier hardest to keep the squad alive...so personaly i think that if you were being a jerk and intentionaly did'nt try to keep the charecter's alive (you kind of have to intentionaly get them killed) than you should be puunished by being stuck with the Virmire survivor and Liara....... theres your team.
It's two people plus default shepard. there we go

Hah that would certainly be funny. I'm pretty sure everyone has at least one save file where everyone makes it. Most people seem to reload the save after seeing a team member die. I managed to have everyone live my first time. Unfortunately, I really can't see how the writers will be able to make any of these characters play a big part given the variability.
Of course, the developers could just have a canon ending of certain characters surviving and others dying. That would solve some problems but anger people who really obsess over the choice and personalization.

The "canon rewrite" would REALLY go against the 'your choices matter' vibe Bioware has been going for.

But why would you accept a dead Tali? I wouldn't.
EDIT:
Oh, and I trust Bioware not to be so damn cheap in terms of emotional impact. Kill Tali for the reaction? No. Done way too much. Overdone. Too easy for Bioware.

I have this acute feeling that the more everyone loves and adores Tali, the more, for shock or dramatic effect they'd kill her off in ME3. As much as I like her myself, if you wanted to end a series with as much emotion and dramatic value, it would be logical.
If they did do that, it would probably be a choice.
