Tali was one of the most interesting characters in ME1, and when I heard she was a possible romance, I played through the entire game again just so I wouldn't have to deal with ashley getting on me for choosing Tali, and I just wanted to be with her for ME3.

What if they make missions like Virmire dynamic, and if you do them right everything will be ok but with certain failures may come sacrifices, or difficult choices such as who to chose to leave behind?

That's what I thought the end of ME2 should have been like, tbh..
I think there should have been a timer for the tech specialist, and if you didn't move and open all the hatches and get to the end in time, you would lose the specialist. The fireteam leader would make sure you had less enemies to deal with, but if you chose a poor leader, you would be swarmed by enemies.. thus making it harder for you to make it through quickly. That would have resulted in pretty much the same possible outcomes, but be based more around player action PLUS choice.
Same with the Biotic part, you need to move quickly.. you can only keep a shield that strong up for so long. The more loyal they are, the harder they will fight and the longer it will last, but it still can't go on forever so you need to hurry.

I'm doing the same thing, One file for Tali, one for Liara.

TALI DIES AND I STORM THE BIOWARE OFFICES. *grr*  ^_^

heh, im sure many others will be in line ahead of you.  myself included =D

but ya, if tali died due to stupidity on my part, well, thats my own damn fault.  however, if she went the way of "mordin randomly dying for no apparent reason" then id become this hate filled monster out for vengeance.

Hell yeah! Storm the offices and kill them with fire!

If you move too slow opening the hatches, the tech specialist WILL die. And they'll start screaming when it gets close.

I have this acute feeling that the more everyone loves and adores Tali, the more, for shock or dramatic effect they'd kill her off in ME3. As much as I like her myself, if you wanted to end a series with as much emotion and dramatic value, it would be logical.

Now that Tali is a romance option, I doubt they would single out her as a specific character, and the most popular one at that, and say to all Shepards who chose her "screw you, your love interest dies." I could certainly see her death and others being possible, as in ME2, though.

Ok... I'm really getting curious now. Has Bioware ever gave their opinion on how people view Tali? Do they think we are insane? Or do they just think wow we did a damn fine job making Tali. To be honest I think whoever wrote Tali put a lot of love into creating her. It shows.

Down on this. I'll be very disappointed if Tali doesn't play a big role in ME3.

I'm with Garrus and Tali as Shepard's go to wingman/woman. They've been faithful to Shepard so far in the trilogy, why not just close out the storyline with them at his side?

And I'm not even talking about any romance aspect. These were the only two characters that have stuck with Shepard through thick and thin, if they are not playable squad members in ME3, I don't know if I'd want to play it.

Don't get me wrong, I like all the characters in ME2, I won't at all contest that. I really hope there's a way to Thane in ME3 as he's my favorite new character. But to leave Garrus and Tali would take something away from the game for me personally.

Exactly.  They should have made Garrus, Tali, and Shepherd talk to each other about past experiences and stuff...I expected Tali and Garrus to have at least said hi to each other when they met...

It wouldn't be wise for them to kill her off for a dramatic effect. I mean we want a happy ending right? Mass Effect will never end happily if she's dead, even when everything else is alright.

I think its a no brainer for Bioware to have Tali back in the crew for the finale. She has become more than just a "fan favorite" for many it sounds like :) By the way I think we all know this but Bioware is just the best at creating memorable characters. Tali FTW!!

If Tali plays a huge role in ME3, I'll be severely disappointed in bioware.

She's an okay character, and it's cool if you like her, but promoting one of the dullest characters in ME1 to a main character that plays a huge role in the story JUST because her fans wont shut up about it is ridiculous.

I'd rather her just be in there as fan service and not as a main character, because she's a dull character, and in both games she was the one of the weakest cast members.

its hard to say really.  im sure there are some in the bioware studios that see the fanatical tali fans as just "weird and creepy" and her cult following was something they never inteded to happen.  of course, you never know.  the people at bioware could be die hard tali fans like the majority of us as well.

but seriously, kudos to the writer behind tali.  and liz sroka did an phenomenal job with her voice acting.  shame video games arent eligible for any hollywood recognition, because the rate its going, video games will surpass hollywood in many aspects, and it has in some already.

Well, they kinda do talk to each other if you have them both in your party when you're on the citadel.......it ends with Tali saying "i have a shotgun" ahh good times lol

Ah, all the love was too good to last, I guess.

We aren't really asking for her to be put ABOVE anyone. We just want her to be just as important as any other squadmate. And that she is a squadmate, of course.

Exactly :D
She survived all of my endings on ME2, mostly because I chose not to include her in dangerous tasks.. to protect her. When it comes down to Legion or Tali taking a shot in the face, there is no question. I like Legion, but.. he's not Tali.

Same thing I did. Took Legion in the vents and he survived. Tali never left my side after I recruited her.

Not. Once.

Tali does, more or less.  one of the more emotional moments i thought was when  talking to her in engineering and my Shepard asked her "what if you were'nt jepordizing anything?"  and she said "If it was just me?  You saved the colonists on Ferros two years ago.  I watched your face as Chief williams died on Virmire.  I watched as you stood strong against everything the galaxy threw at you.  I've watched you for so long.... and i never thought you would ever see past....   ((touches helmet)) .... this.... "

Bioware invests alot into making memorable charecters, thats for sure.

she did for me a couple times, but she was at my side for the majority of the game.  i sent tali into the vents on my second playthrough for the sheer fact that legions combat capabilities surpassed hers when fighting the collectors (this was on insane btw).  if i had to choose between two engineers, one with a pistol and another with an assault rifle, id take the assault rifle any day.  but, tali lived, so, its all good anyways =D

I wanted to blow Zaeed out the airlock after i got him, I was hoping for a way to get rid of him in the end.......but i didn't know if it would affect the achievement for keeping all my squad members........grrrr. Zaeed is just ugh......he really qualifies as the most boring individual in the game.......I find that some of the NPC that you see once are more interesting than him.

Idk how Tali can be considered a dull character......you must have not been playing ME 1 or 2......

Count me in, of course!

I understand that some people don`t see the appeal of tali, adn that's fine, everyone has different tastes, but many also do on here and Gfaqs(the only 2 places I know of that discuss ME).

Heck, even on my other main forum, one that has a section for video games, in the ME2 thread, many people wanted to roamnce Tali.

Personally, I love how Tali's romance and charachter had such a huge part in ME2, from when you first meet, to recruiting, to her EPIC loyalty mission, it not only solidified her as an important part of ME but, unlike the other LI's(NOT saying that the others are bad) built up an arc leading to see how she could fall in love with shepard, just as the people who chose to have their Shepards fall in love with her.

That's truly why I really love Tali in ME2.

That is a choice i hope i NEVER have to make.

Oh trust me, I agree completely. I just hope that if one of them does have to die, I can at least be a part of it. Not random, and not just a part of the canon plot. To me it works better if the player has the choice, since every player views the story different. Best example: Some people agree that destroying the collector ship is the right thing, while others argue it's a stupid mistake. There is a whole topic about it on the first page.

So obviously people feel very differently about things, and this is a game that emphasizes player choice and unique story based on those choices. To some people party members might not be as important on the whole scope of the trilogy as far as canon is concerned.. But for someone like me, I need to know I can protect Tali ../../../images/forum/emoticons/sideways.png

I wont settle for an option where she dies no matter what.

Personally, I prefer the ME2 way of handling deaths. I don't like to choose who dies, but rather, I like to be able to maximize the odds of survival. Although, in ME1 I wish I could have had both Ash and Kaidan die. I didn't like either one.

If they do have a "choose who dies" piece in ME3 then I don't think that it will be a choice between two (or more) characters. I think that it will be a choice between you and a character.  Do you sacrifice yourself to save Garrus, but in the process leave Tali to mourn your death? Or do you let Garrus sacrifice himself to save you alowing you to be with Tali? Image IPB
