Liara's got an excuse. Ash does not. And sends an email to apologise. An email.
TIM probably was trying to isolate you from your past so he could convince you to out-and-out join cerberus.

WELL: The first part worked.
And then Tali walked in...and I couldn't resist...
My original intent WAS to stay loyal...
The Talimance drew me in...

In all fairness regarding Ash sending an e-mail, you are aboard a top-secret state-of-the-art private spaceship that the Alliance military (whom she still serves) has absolutely no control over. How else is she supposed to contact you while you are off galvanizing around the galaxy?

Nothing against Ash, really. I was just wondering about TIM's possible ulterior motives...

Stay loyal to the other goons that people calle LI's in ME1 is a more daunting dask than defeating the reapers will be. At least with Tali out there, I mean come on people, it was totally worth it, to break the loyality even if you were planning on it.

Just thought that I'd throw in a Tali mention since I decided to romance her in my first playthrough. So far, the romance seems pretty well done, but I really wish they did more talking like in the first game. Maybe they'll flesh it out in the next game.

I've been reading some of the haters threads. Some people think it's creepy how there are 183 pages. I admit some of the stuff that has been posted is creepy, but come on. Is it really that bad to express our love for Tali? Not to mention that they would be surprised at how conversations can started about her.

Well, in my opinion. My attraction to a fictional character is weird, but I blame Bioware for making such great believable characters. Image IPB

Indeed, there has been some weird things posted, but a lot of our discussions were normal and civil.

Indeed. When Legion and Tali had their fight, I wanted to take the Renegade option to end it like I did Miranda/Jack. It was greyed. The only way to get Legion back on my side was to tell him I lied to Tali, which I didn't want. Went through Legion's loyalty mission so many times before I said "screw it."

I get a kick out of people hating on the thread. I mean...it takes me just a few minutes to post something then leave. Its not like I am obsessing. I am on a forum about a game I enjoy, in a thread about a character I like. What do you expect?

No one came here to talk about the news, thats for sure.

My theory about the ME1 romance coming back to haunt you is pretty valid.

I think that the ME2 romance will find out you cheated on the ME1 romance with them and they'll think you're a monster.

Jack wouldn't care.
Miranda would love you for it. (Since she's arrogant)
Tali though, who knows. She's all about loyalty and seemed to be excited that Shepard was her "first".

Any sufficiently talented kitbasher could find a way to make Tali's visor both transparent and put a "face" behind it (as much as we see in-game, anyway.)

C'mon guys, back to the Tali discussion.

How do you think ME3 will start out, in regards to Tali?

Well, for me Tali was not exiled from her people, so maybe she'll go back. But I doubt that, because she loves my shepard and wouldn't leave the person who saw her face for the first time just for a position on the admirality board.

Well that's how mine turned up as well, however, she does state that several people were recommending her to be an admiral. I don't know if that's an oppurtunity she could pass up  (cultural reasons?) but I think the best way of having her stay with you in ME3 would be exile, but I know that's what she does not want, unless it would mean outing her father. However I owned people with my paragon-ness so I don't know.

That notion has been brought up before and arguments both for and against typed out. Personally I don't think that it necessitates a "black or white" approach; long distance relationships can work to an extent (at some point steady physical interaction will be required due to physical nature being a part of our identity). Given the technology available in the ME universe it should theoretically be easier than ever for Shepard and Tali to stay in touch if they so desired. That said, here's something to consider:

You speak of essentially selfishly tying Tali to yourself (as Shepard) because you love her so much. It is an understandable reaction to fear losing those dearest to you and it is an emotion I have felt too, yet given the person that Tali is, her sweetness, her kindness, her loyalty and honesty, her intelligence, her endearing shyness leading to awkward babbling, her strength and devotion to the things and people she believes in, would you really want to actively endanger her spirit by insidiously undermining her welfare? Yes, perhaps one runs the risk of losing her as a loving partner by supporting her freedom of choice and her cultural heritage, yet isn't that what true, mature love for another - passionate or platonic - is really about? Supporting those who matter to you through thick and thin and being willing to put what you perceive as their well-being based upon what they have expressed to you of their motives and idealogy above your own wants and desires for them? I'm not advocating blindly accepting everything a loved one, be it Tali or someone else, says or does. Sometimes you may find yourself in the tricky situation of gauging when it is time to intervene in another person's life for their own well being bearing in mind that any such action should always first and foremost be based upon what is in that person's best interest and not your own. What I am advocating is respect for Tali (or any other love interest both in ME and in real life) as an independent, sentient being. You've come to love her as the person she is; don't demean that by effectively enslaving her spirit borne out of your own fear/insecurity.

Just food for thought grasshopper.

If I loved someone deeply enough, I would go with them wherever life took them.

That is yet another posibility under the right circumstances. Might make for quite an anti-climatic story if Shepard were suddenly to pack up shop and go clean Tali and his shared quarters aboard a Quarian ship instead of saving the galaxy.... ^_^

Same here.

But you know some people. How dare we have different opinions and interests, right?

I'm surprised. This is already well past 4,000 posts, and almost 200 pages, and it was half of that last night when I logged off. Fantastic.

I'm just wondering what Bioware thinks as they read this thread.

Simple fix for that, just replay ME1 without a romance.....problem solved. Image IPB
And i'd rather have Tali as my first too, though it's almost like her personality comes across as lets wait till were married for the deed, except well she doesn't. Needless to say, pleasantly surprised i was.

A. In denial.
B. Have some weird ass fetish that they dont want to share with anyone, yet mock others.
C. All of the above.
