If Tali plays a huge role in ME3, I'll be severely disappointed in bioware.
She's an okay character, and it's cool if you like her, but promoting one of the dullest characters in ME1 to a main character that plays a huge role in the story JUST because her fans wont shut up about it is ridiculous.
I'd rather her just be in there as fan service and not as a main character, because she's a dull character, and in both games she was the one of the weakest cast members.
I found Tali to be the most interesting character in ME1 because unlike everyone else, she seemed to be having fun and enjoying herself. Plus without her, Shepard never makes Spectre and they can't go after Saren. She plays a big role in both games.
Even discounting that, as the sole quarian in the first game, she is the representative for the entire race to the players, and learning about their culture through her also makes her an important and lively character. I actually thought she was supposed to be a love interest in the first game because of how deeply fleshed out her character was.

I understand that some people don`t see the appeal of tali, adn that's fine, everyone has different tastes, but many also do on here and Gfaqs(the only 2 places I know of that discuss ME).
Heck, even on my other main forum, one that has a section for video games, in the ME2 thread, many people wanted to roamnce Tali.
Personally, I love how Tali's romance and charachter had such a huge part in ME2, from when you first meet, to recruiting, to her EPIC loyalty mission, it not only solidified her as an important part of ME but, unlike the other LI's(NOT saying that the others are bad) built up an arc leading to see how she could fall in love with shepard, just as the people who chose to have their Shepards fall in love with her.
That's truly why I really love Tali in ME2.

How dare you say that when we have characters like Zaheed walking around.
Idk how Tali can be considered a dull character......you must have not been playing ME 1 or 2......

Tali must return as a squadmember and LI. ("Carthago delenda est" - if it worked in Rome, why not here?)

You didn't think Wrex and Garrus weren't having fun?
Hell, I remember a scene where Tali ****es Garrus out just for having too much fun.
And as far as the quarian thing goes, she was only worth talking to just to learn about the quarians and the flotilla, but I was never interested in her ACTUAL character. Now that there are actual quarians hanging around in ME2, and now that you can see the actual flotilla, she needs a bit more than "She's a quarian!" to make her cool.

It is clear that the Quarian homeworld is going to be a huge issue in ME 3 and it is natural that Tali will play a part in that. I imagine that Legion will also be around, so he will work from the Geth side. A war between the Geth and Quarians would leave both of them open to absolute destruction by the Reapers.
I defintily see this as possible.
Don't forget that Legion is a m ULTRA important charecter. He basicaly is the "true Geth" and proves the misconception that all geth want to eradicate organic life.
I hope we are given the option of settling the war between the Quarian and the Geth......................... or turn it into a raging inferno that decimates the Migrant Fleet and ravages the Quaraian home world (if you're a Renegade that is

Though did it seem like Tali, was less usefull in ME2? In ME1 i was practically forced to have her in my squad as she was the only one who could open stuff, however her abilities in ME2 didn't seem that usefull to me. AI Hacking, meh geth and robots were dead before it was needed, and Combat Drone, not really sure how that one really helped much
depends on the difficulty with which you played the game. i know on insanity, the combat drone was a GODSEND for flushing people out from behind cover so i could cap them with the sniper rifle. if things got hectic, hacking a geth destroyer or geth prime bought me precious time to recoup and get ready to press on.

I'm with Garrus and Tali as Shepard's go to wingman/woman. They've been faithful to Shepard so far in the trilogy, why not just close out the storyline with them at his side?
And I'm not even talking about any romance aspect. These were the only two characters that have stuck with Shepard through thick and thin, if they are not playable squad members in ME3, I don't know if I'd want to play it.
Don't get me wrong, I like all the characters in ME2, I won't at all contest that. I really hope there's a way to Thane in ME3 as he's my favorite new character. But to leave Garrus and Tali would take something away from the game for me personally.
Exactly. They should have made Garrus, Tali, and Shepherd talk to each other about past experiences and stuff...I expected Tali and Garrus to have at least said hi to each other when they met...
Yeah, I remember that...But still you know what I mean...I felt like they didn' even notice each other after reuniting from two years of doing their own thing.

ya, i was a little disappointed with the lack of random spoutings that occured between characters while wandering around. i did enjoy some of the elevator conversations, and like you said, i wouldve hoped thered have been more dialogue between the me1 characters when they all got united throughout the game. but, oh well. one small wrong in the numerous rights that bioware accomplished with this game.

destroyers were only bad if you lettem get close since they had a flamethrower. on insanity on my soldier, 1 sniper shot from the widow was enough to get the shields down, and then i usually had tali hack it and watch it go ape sh*t on the surrounding geth.

Oh trust me, I agree completely. I just hope that if one of them does have to die, I can at least be a part of it. Not random, and not just a part of the canon plot. To me it works better if the player has the choice, since every player views the story different. Best example: Some people agree that destroying the collector ship is the right thing, while others argue it's a stupid mistake. There is a whole topic about it on the first page.noisecode wrote...
That is a choice i hope i NEVER have to make.
So obviously people feel very differently about things, and this is a game that emphasizes player choice and unique story based on those choices. To some people party members might not be as important on the whole scope of the trilogy as far as canon is concerned.. But for someone like me, I need to know I can protect Tali ../../../images/forum/emoticons/sideways.png
I wont settle for an option where she dies no matter what.
Personally, I prefer the ME2 way of handling deaths. I don't like to choose who dies, but rather, I like to be able to maximize the odds of survival. Although, in ME1 I wish I could have had both Ash and Kaidan die. I didn't like either one.
If they do have a "choose who dies" piece in ME3 then I don't think that it will be a choice between two (or more) characters. I think that it will be a choice between you and a character. Do you sacrifice yourself to save Garrus, but in the process leave Tali to mourn your death? Or do you let Garrus sacrifice himself to save you alowing you to be with Tali?

I know what you mean, it would be pretty cool if you could get involved in conversations involving 3 people. That might be something to implement in ME3?

Garrus is a primer on paragon/renegade and is pretty much a stereotypical "loose cannon" cop who is too angsty. Wrex is fun, but also terribly one note angry character who just wants to kill. Tali was closer to sharing the player's perspective in the game, because it was like she was seeing these things for the first time like the player was.
I think meeting her on her pilgrimage, helping her out with that and her sticking it out with you, and then having her character share a lot of tragic or harrowing experiences beside Shepard in ME2 give her the most depth of any character in the series. Garris is a close second because he was amazing in ME2 as well and much more well-rounded.
Tali and Garrus are pretty much the co-stars of the ME series now. And I think Tali in particular has been crafted and written amazingly.
