About the Geth war . . . I've noticed that everyone seems to be taking Legion at his word.
Why if he is lying?
There seems to be no evidence that there are, in fact, two groups of Geth. Every Geth you encountered attacked you. In fact, you attacked the Geth station, the one that had oddly no defenses. If the heretics are, in fact, only a minority, then why has the majority of non-hostile Geth remained Isolationist? Why not establish borders or open dialog with the other races? Why ensure that no ships ever return from Geth space? Maybe I'm just paranoid, but the only thing supporting Legions version of events is Legion.
Well, that depends on whether you take Legion at its word. Legion explains that the Geth accept that each species - synthetic and organic alike - should be able to determine it's own fate and thus does not warrant direct intervention from the Geth. It was this tolerant outlook that led them to peacefully let the Heretics secede from the Geth. As for being isolationist, well why not? What exactly do the Geth really need to trade with other races for? They are one entity. They don't need food, luxury items, drink, oxygen, etc. The raw materials they need they are quite capable of mining for themselves and do it more efficiently than the organic organizations and they probably have a wider selection to chose from since they are less limited by environmental factors. Add to that that Geth technology has evoled along incompatible lines with organic tech there are few manufactured goods they are likely going to be interested in from the organics. In short, the Geth appear to be entirely guided by logic, an interest in creating their own future and are apparently non-violent unless attacked first. Legion and the Geth came across as far more reasonable than many of the Council factions, in my opinion (providing it is true). Until contrary evidence presents itself I'm inclined to take Legion at its word.
