Tali just nuked Benezia in the face with Carnage.

Lucky you. I borrowed my ME1 to a mate of mine and i should get it back next weekend. =(
Until then i cant play through it again with Tali in my squad and without romancing anyone
but saving myself for Tali. This sucks.
Or if i had a PC good enough i could play ME/2 on that. This really sucks.

Not to mention the Quarians are not welcome in Council space. The Council closed the Quarian embassy after the Geth revolted. A war between the Geth and the Quarians really does not stand to serve either faction, except for pure reasons of hubris. I wouldn't want to be part of the butcher's bill myself. Fight for something you believe in, sure, but wasted sacrifice is just that: wasted.

I really hate the Council. Completely useless, couldn't even defuse the geth/quarian incident when they had the chance, now look at them. Not to mention completely ignoring the impending Reaper threat.

I sold it because I had gone throuhg it liek 10 times. And I didn't anticipate I'd go through it again, since ME2 was coming out.

Providing Legion is being truthful with Shepard, then it wasn't the Geth but the Heretics (corrupted former Geth) that did that.
What tipped the scales for me was the fact that Legion saved Shepard's life and his squad's (which included Tali) during the IFF mission.

Yea but Shepard doesn't know that, before talking to Legion. He doesn't know it was the heretics who served Sovereign (that's what happened, right?) As far as he knows so far, the Geth are an aggressive race who have only shown themselves to be violent worshippers of the Reapers. The fact that they're synthetics dehumanizes them, so it's easier to generalize them as being mindlessly violent and dogmatically obsessive of the Reapers. You can't really do the same thing for say the "races" of the human species, because they are human and any rational person will know that every human is an individual no matter what background. With the Geth, you're not so sure. They could just be copies of themselves.

As for saving Shepard's life, well...Shepard doesn't get killed by a husk in a single swipe. Husks aren't particularly smart. Shepard or a teammate could have interrupted the husks from attacking. Omnigel can heal wounds. The Reapers have manipulated sentients and synthetics before, so Shepard can still be suspicious. Plus as I said, slap in the face to Tali.

I consider the whole "damage" aspect up in the air due to the fact that the damage model for Shepard and crew mates may not be realistic even for ME tech. It is likely based far more on a user friendly experience model (i.e. no one-hit/shot kills by enemies to the active party). If you examine the in-game background story and material it seems the husks and Heretics had little trouble killing Alliance marines.

I stand by the previous observation that Legion saved Shepard's life, or at the very least defended it, at a time where it would have been just as easy for it to attack and possibly kill Shepard if that was its plan. Considering that it could not be certain that Shepard would show up on the derelict Reaper it would only be supposition to suspect that Legion had ulterior motives for being there (i.e. a classic bait-and-switch plan where you gain the target's trust and then stab them in the back....though that is still a possibility).

I never sell any of my games.

1. You never know when you get the urge to play a old one.
2. I paid 60+ dollars for this thing I'm not accepting 20 bucks case or 15 bucks store credit.

As much as I love the Quarians, i'll go ahead and say it was their fault that they lost their homeworld. They did create the Geth afterall.

It could get to a point where they belive it isnt worth living on the fleet any longer.  Death in glory is preferable to stagnation in their ships.  I would hope for a peacful agreement reached between the Quarians and Geth, but this is an outcome that is not likely.

Yeah. As much as I love Tali and like Quarians in general, I don't think a war would be worth it. The potential losses are FAR too great. They can't afford to lose the fleet and like you said they aren't really welcome in Council space, and I doubt they will be lucky like the Drell who had the Hanar come along to save them from extinction.

Wow, this thread is long...

I'd be surprised if the Devs didn't put Tali in ME3 now.

"Do the words, 'Political ****storm' meaning anything to you?"

P.S I completely agree with this thread. All of it.

Correction: The Quarians acted out of fear and tried to shut down the Geth because they feared they were losing control. I can relate to their concern and might very well have advocated similar action in such a situation. Yet the fact remains that the Geth were not violent before then nor even at the time questions about souls were raised. The Quarians attacked first and it was only then that the Geth reacted violently.

Furthermore, you seem to be confusing the Geth with organics and that's not unexpected since you and I are "organics" and thus think in different patterns to a synthetic intelligence. The Geth even state via Legion that they do not spend much time on the Quarian homeworld. They prefer to reside in space stations since it is easier for them to mine asteroids. To understand the Geth and their outlook better you need to let go of some of your emotions and focus on the cold logic of the situation.

They don't need a war to get their homeworld back. The Geth don't even really want it anyway.

Geth spy on organics...They just don't let us be???

So they monitor unsecured broadcast signals. So what? Don't you think the other civilized species who have the tech to do so do the same? Besides, Legion states they are curious about the organics and are trying to understand them better. Could such knowledge be used against organics? Possibly, but as with any tool or bit of knowledge it possesses "dual use" capabilities. The Geth want to be left alone and their core philosophy advocates letting each species determine it's own future. What you are asking of them is precisely what they have been doing: Leaving the organic species alone.

You seem to be confusing the Geth with the Heretics. The Heretics look like the Geth but they are different - they fell under the sway of Sovereign and it is those Geth (i.e. the Heretics) that have been attacking humanity and the Council. Not the "real" Geth.

Someone just needs to gag Admiral Xen long enough for diplomatic exchanges to take place.

I resent that. Admiral Xen is voiced by Claudia Black, who is a total babe in real life, and bad ass in DA where she plays Morrigan.
