Is Warp Ammo really the best ammo type? I thought it was good vs health, armor and shields. Is it?

warp is aight vs barriers, armor and health. As a soldier i personally prefer AP ammo which is a beast against armor and health. considering barriers are rare and a AR will tear a barrier/shield in a few shots armor and health are the main defences to breech. So i would suggest AP ammo

As a soldier, I prefer incendiary rounds, the semi auto sniper and a good slam ability. Nothing says destruction like a soldier with a maxed out slam ability. Throw in a few adrenaline rushes, maybe a dash of fire and you got some destruction on your hands.

If you like visuals, squad-cryo ammo and various biotic abilities is very fun and amusing.

Warp ammo does 50% more damage to health, barriers, shields, and armor, plus even more damage if your target is currently under the effects of a biotic power such as pull or singularity.
Armor Piercing Ammo does 70% more damage to armor and health.
Disruptor Ammo does 70% more damage to shields and syntheic enemies
Shredder Ammo does 80% more damage to health and organic enemies.
So the question is do you want 1 ammo type thats good against everything but not the best against a particular enemy, or an ammo type that is more effective on one type of enemy than any other ammo type. So really warp isn't the most powerful, but it is the most versatile, its what I always choose, besides I hate switching ammo types every few minutes.

FYI, Warp Ammo does not provide a bonus against shields. Read the description if you doubt my word.
Anyway, Warp Ammo is great if you plan to use Biotics often due to the bonus damage from them. If you are not going to use Biotics often then Armor Piercing (AP) Ammo is better, especially since Barriers are few and far between. Disruptor, Cryo, Shredder and Incendiary are all useful but it really depends on your party composition and current mission.
Sadly, Bioware went ammo skill crazy and they all overlap way too much. If you are playing on Insanity then you want something to take care of all the armor and AP Ammo is probably your best choice. The only exception would be if you are using an Adept or Biotic heavy party and then Warp Ammo would be ideal. Overall AP Ammo is the best choice with Warp Ammo being the runner-up (or winner if you are playing as an Adept).

Personally I feel that level 3 Incendiary and Disruptor are the best choice for Insanity mode. You do not need to evolve either of them for them to be brutally efficient at what they do, so that cuts down on the extra points you need taking two ammo types instead of one.
What makes me enjoy these ammo types is that they have a stunning effect against enemies they are meant to take care of. Incendiary ammo makes enemies with Health bars exposed dance around on fire, not shooting you. Disruptor ammo makes synthetic enemies with Health bars exposed spasm uncontrollably, not shooting you.
The not shooting you part is what is important on Insanity.
If you are not a Soldier, pick the ammo type that allows your primary ability to take effect. In other words, if your main attack skill is poor against Armor, take Armor Piercing from Garrus. If you do not have access to a special ammo type that helps your primary skill, do not take ammo as one of your loyalty skills.

What is the exact damage bonus with warp ammo when something is under the effects of a biotic power ? is it 50% more ? I think warp ammo can add a 100 % damage bonus total ?
