I loved them all, they were all emotional in different ways and each one added a lot of depth to their characters. But my top three have to be...

1. Tali: Absolutely heart-wrenching and secured Tali's place as my favorite Mass Effect character bar none. Paragon hug is ftw, best interrupt in the whole game. It also gave us a ton of insight into the Quarians in general, we see more of them in this side quest than in the rest of the game.

2. Jack: Although none of it was too surprising it served it's purpose well and gave us insight into the horrors that turned Jack into what she is today and also worked as a potent reminder that Cerberus isn't all shiny tech and altruistic goals, they'll kill as many as they'll save if it means more power for them.

3.Miranda: I very much liked this mission giving us a real insight into Miranda's motives and what she holds dear, it made her a lot more of an approachable character and showed that she was a lot more than just the "Cerberus cheerleader".

3. Tali - For the obvious reasons.

2. Thane - Not only were the missions fun (Renegade bad cop Shepard takes the law into his own hands!), but the cinematic experience almost made my head explode. After the long hunt searching for Thane's son, the story hits its climax when guns are drawn aiming at Thane's son with his own sights fixated on the hostage. All the while it's taking place in this bleak apartment room with red and blue lights illuminating this somber scene, but only to underscore the the reality of the situation.

1. Garrus - I know, wtf? Firstly, Garrus was my favorite character in VME so I feel like I know Garrus pretty well. Flash forward to ME2 and the new Garrus is changed. He's still the calm, collective and professional individual that I always identified with, but there's a change in him that you can notice right away from the time you meet him again. Then you get to his loyalty mission and you begin to take a step back. You see how ruthless he has become, you see what emotion he had turn into remorseless, emotionless killing. You begin to wonder if Garrus is alright mentally. You think that there's a fine line between good and evil and perhaps Garrus is right at the tipping point, liable to go any which way. Yes, I picked Garrus not because of the rich emotional roller coaster ride that you got with Tali, and Maranda, but just the opposite. It was not the emotion that made his story great, but lack of. There's much more I want to write about Garrus, but too many ideas are flowing right now and am having a difficult time getting them down. Anyway, Garrus is the best character in ME and I **** bricks when Bioware brought him back. All I can say is my #2 better come back for ME3.

1) Tali, of course. And the Bioware staff put so much effort into this! Most of the existing loyalty stories were on existing planets/space stations or somewhat generalized locations, but they made a whole new area of the game for this. And a lot of voice acting. And I was very surprised after the trailers that you could solve the situation completely (except for the E-mail you get after... :-/).

2) Jacob. I was impressed by his personality when he wasn't constantly trying to defend his father after learning what actually happened.

3) Uhmmm... Mordin, maybe. Because his really made me twist my brain trying to think of the right thing to do.

1. Garrus - Of course, I'm way biased towards Garrus, but I thought his was the best by far. The convo in the shuttle, watching him beat on that guy, it was just so hard watching him losing himself, his ideals. And then not letting him take the shot. Powerful stuff.

2. Jack - That facility gave me chills. It helped paint the picture of what she became, like a wild animal terrified of being caged again. It wasn't so much a particular scene in this that got me as it was the atmosphere of the whole mission.

3. ??? - All the rest were about even, I didn't get too emotional about any of them. Of course, I felt bad for poor Tali when she found her father, but I felt the rest of her mission was kind of short and didn't have as much impact as it could have. Plus I kind of saw it coming that her dad was doing bad stuff, since I knew it wasn't Tali.
