Can someone PLEASE answer this question? I have bought the game (Dragon Age Origins) but have not opened it yet! I used the web site 'Can U Run It' to see if my computer was capable of running this game.  Everything passed except my CPU.  My CPU SPEED is fine but not my CPU.  The game requires the new Intel CORE but I have a P4 3.2 PENTIUM (not CORE).  Will my computer run this game???? Image IPB Or do I need the new Intel CORE???

im not trying to be rude, but i would buy a whole new pc, u would have to upgrade ur ram to at least 3gigs and u would also need a new video card, and even then ur cpu would prolly still let u down

if u upgraded ur ram and video card then i would assume (dont take my word for it) that it would run on lower settings. the way ur computer is now i would say that it would be unplayable. thats just my opinion tho

I would keep the game and get a new computer. Even if your cpu was able to run it, it would run terribly and Dragon Age shouldn't be run terribly! I'm in the same boat as you. My computer can't run it, but I'm pretty much building a new computer for this game. If you don't have the money, I completely understand, but if its not an issue, I say get a new computer :)

when game developers put out system requirements they are trying to sell their game. meeting minimum requirements on a pc game means that the game will not be enjoyable at all. give it a shot tho, worst thing that could happen is u need a new cpu

you will have limited options in upgrading your video card (P4 are socet 478. I do not believe there were any PCI-Express Socket 478 motherboards) Thus the amount of AGP upgrade options you have is extremely slim.

Your PC is actually over three years old as the PC I replaced over a year ago had those specs and when built 4 years ago now was considered good.

I don't think any of us are in a position to promise you it will run fine or at all..possibly at low resolution and completely turned down.

Fiscally there is no point in investing any more money in that PC unless you love burning cash.

Well I play the game on Athlon Sempron 2400+ / 1GB RAM / Geforce 6600, on low of course, with a FPS of 8-15, and it's actually playable for me because the game use hardware cursor.

You are misinformed.  There were a lot of Pressler P4s sold at the very end of that CPU's lifetime with s775 sockets, PCIe, and DDR2.  A goodly number of those can have their BIOSes flashed to use the earliest of the C2Ds.

Your PC is actually over three years old as the PC I replaced over a year ago had those specs and when built 4 years ago now was considered good.

You are misinformed about that as well.  P4s were still being sold in PCs as recently as two years ago.  No one has asked for the rest of the components' makeup, and video cards are half of game performance anyway.

His CPU is slightly below the official minimum, and the real facts we are learning are ithat the CPU requirements were grossly overstated, and the video requirements were understated in the official requirements.  Several PCs with AMD K7s are running the game, and some P4s slower than the one the OP has are doing so.
