ME1's annoying list IMO trumps that of ME2.
No matter how long the list ME1 has it doesn't change the fact ME2 has a list aswell.
You would have to start arguing quantity over quality; would I rather have 10 small annoyances or 2 very large annoyances.

love how so many of the hate posts are "ME2's rpg side sucks compared to ME1 because of *Insert game mechanic complain*". Didn't realize that an rpg was solely based on game mechanics. My bad thinking that an rpg is about oh i don't know role playing?
If that's the best you got you might as well pick up cosplay.

What defines "role playing" for you? Is it simply how your character responds to dialogue? If so, you might've noticed that's, you know, a game mechanic.
Of course role playing games are based on mechanics. All games have mechanics.

You obviously missed the point of my post, people are complaining about game mechanics and hiding these complains behind the "its not an rpg because" excuse. if people want to complain about game mechanics its fine they have all the rights in the world to do so, but complain about game mechanics openly dont say its not an rpg because of game mechanics.
You play a roll in me2 (Shepard)
The game does not limit you so you can play the way that suits your playstyle and mental thinking
You have the ability to influence conversations
You have the ability to get into situations youd expect to get into in real life
You can stay neutral or you can choose to be good or evil through your actions
To complain that a game mechainc is what brings the rpg feel down just shows how people dont understand the concept of an rpg, Sure there could of been some more armor and yes it would of been nice to be able to equip squad members and such but it does not take from the rpg element of the game that stuff is purly a game mechanic side. The story is still great the interactions and character are great, and you still have total control on how the story plays out.

Of course role playing games are based on mechanics. All games have mechanics.
Character responses and reactions are the main thing about a proper role playing game, how you react to a situation shapes the whole story and experience you play through, yes ofcourse its considered a game mechanic everything that happens in a game is technically a game mechainc, but the game mechanic for these sorts of things are made to portray the role playing experience, saying that lack of inventory make it a ****ty role playing game in my oppinion is nonsense, its simply a game mechaninc to equip items and such thats it.

I have to say im really enjoying Mass effect the original game. I am actially probably one of the few that is still currently playing that game. I am trying to get as much enjoyment out of it as i can before moving onto to mass effect 2. I am a huge rpg fan, more so then FPS fan. My main reason for playing bioware's games is because they have rpg elements incorporated into them. Other wise i wouldn't be playing them.
I hear alot of hate towards mass effect 2, something bout downgrading all the rpg elements, no exp for kills and limited inventory, those sort of things. I am sort of ashamed cause i bought the game at full price and now all im hearing is negative comments from people. In fact on this forum there is more neagative comments then there is possitive comments. Is mass effect 2 really that bad?I was so hyped up for this game also and now im having second thoughts of even playing it. Though i probably will anyways just for the story.
No it is just forums like this that attract all the haters. I think its just a combo of hype and it not living up to people's high expectations, and looking at ME1 with rose-tinted glasses on. This was the first game I bought brand new in over a year, and I thoroughly enjoyed my first play through, and I definitely think this will be on my top ten games of all time list. Some of the complaints are legitimate, like biotics being useless on harcore and insanity. But a lot of them are just crap, based on people expecting ME3 to bring them to gaming Nirvana, and being let down. Then there are just the trolls and wannabe-game designers who just like to criticize everything to make up for their own lack of accomplishment. Seriously, just ignore the crap. If you like this game, you like it, forget the haters hating.

Well, no, it's a game mechanic for character development. You know, customization of the character, progression of the character, ownership of the character?
The analogy to your argument would be like saying the ability to choose dialogue is simply a game mechanic to advance the plot.

You cant go from mission on planet A to mission on Planet B without talking to person X first, i mean if you really wanted to and had planet B discovered yes you technically could go there, but the story would not progress youd just land there and faf about doing nothing related to the story.

If you cant deal with a little discussion and automatically resort to calling people trolls or dense SOBs maybe you shouldnt use forms, because forms are areas for discussion, not to say your point and badger down everyone else who responds to your comment once you have done so.

As far as I'm concerned, ME2 is sub par; it just isn't as fun as the original. I don't know exactly what caused it (likely an amalgamation of all the individual changes), but ME2 is lacking the soul of the original.
I enjoyed ME1 in spite of the flaws, but I can't say the same for ME2.
That isn't even close to what I said. Try again.

What don't you understand about what people miss from ME1? I'm reading your comment here and it does nothing to add to the topic. Sure those aspects are key elements to an RPG but they are not the ones people are "whining/complaing" miss.
So ME2 has alot of the same elements as ME1, now tell me that you don't see vast difference in certain "rpg" elements and tell me you couldn't possibly understand why some people would feel dissapointed.
But you go as if nothings wrong, sure maybe not for you but many others disagree. You can accept that or we can go round and round all night long.

Like i said, I am perfectly fine and happy with people having issue with the game and complaining that the customization and inventory and loot and all that arnt upto the standard that they were at in ME1 as long as they complain about it upfront as its own issue, saying that a game sucks as an RPG cause people arnt crapping out loot once you kill them or because you cant force a squadmate to wear the armor you want them to, i feel isnt a valid argument as they arnt nessicary to make a good rpg, both systems are infact present ME2, just not as much as in ME1. All people need to do is say i dont like the game cause of the customizing, done, simple, the point holds and its infact accurate, but once they start trying to bring it into the point where they are saying it destroys the whole feel of an rpg well i think they are missing the point of what an rpg is.

I don't think they mean rpgs as a whole but simply Mass Effects "soul". It's all opinion.
They're whining because they strongly believe in those elements and if they don't all bioware will have to read about is how awesome ME2 was from the "cinematic story telling/ shooter crowd". That would be a disservice.

-Place armor changes in the pre-docking sequence when you choose your group. . .
-Dear god reduce the load times. . .
-Perhaps a VR combat test, in your cabin, so you can test new powers out.
-Better tips and explanation on the weapon systems, the VR system could do this pretty well. . .
-Video sequence of ME 1's story line, perhaps some docu-drama that you can play in your cabin?
