Okay, so following the .pdf posted by Bioware. I log into the game. I wait for the opening logos to go by. I hit start.

Next it goes to the normal login screen for the 'resume game' etc.
On the right, there is a prompt to hit the Y key to log in to the Cerberus Network. I hit Y.
Prompt comes up (shown in step 1 of the pdf.).
I hit A confirming I wish to log in.
20 second pause and...
ERROR - "Communciation with the Mass Effect 2 server was interrupted or has timed out. Please try again later."

This message has haunted me since I got the game on release day. I redeemed the codes today on the website but still can't even get on the network or sign in to redeem. I haven't had any of the other issues reported. My gamertag is correct on the account; the email has the gamer tag on it; etc.

Possible (though not probable) this is a technical issue. I am on XBox Live just fine, but I am running it through a router which has one other computer on it. I don't think this would cause an issue but I have been wrong in the past. Before everyone points to split connections I will say that Live is running with no lag and 100% functionality. I can download and get on it without error or delay.

Anyone know of a resolution for this? Forum dudes, players?

Another point of note I just checked. I can get on the Dragon Age servers without any issues. Mass Effect 2 ones still not working. >.<

Smae prob here. Are you by any chance in Europe since I am. Maybe it's that reason. I don't think it's the games fault as much as your internet's. I had a similer problem with Halo 3.

What I was going to try was to bring my xbox to a friends house and download it there. Maybe their internet would work.

Nope, in America. Not saying it isn't the same thing, but guess it isn't distance related if they are the same servers we are all meant to connect to.

have you tried connecting your console directly to the modem? Reason I ask is some routers restrict incoming traffic unless you specify the consoles network ID/ip to be allowed full access to network and internet both outgoing and incoming traffic. Can fix those issues with port forwarding or DMZ option on your router for you console ID/ip.

May be grasping at straws I'm just considering anything that may be hindering the connection the Cerberus being that it's a server outside the XBL network.

I'm getting this as well. I've had it before and it went away a day later, but I'm still upset because I can't verify the DLC I just bought. This is not a happy thing.

Connection problems are the most common on the (rather quiet of late) 360 tech boards for ME2 and DAO. If you've seen some of the other threads addressing basically the same issue, some of us are speculating that EA are prioritizing certain games over older ones. If that it true, there is unlikely to be an improvement.

I will ask the same question as I have to others: is there a reason why you have to connect to the servers?

Ever since the battlefield 3 beta i'm having this problem, but not on Battlefield 3.

Only seems to serve as evidence for the thought that newer games are being prioritised over the older one; as such it isn't surprising. And there is unlikely to be a user end fix as it were.

Similar problems here (Finland). In 2010 startup and autologin to Cerberus network worked, now in 2012 I get problems with autologin (network error mentioned in other posts). When I disable autologin the game freezes after startup (nonresponsive menu after the red startup screen) for about 15 seconds. Then everything is normal. Speculation: Does ME2 try to connect anyway but since autologin is disabled all errors are simply ignored (explaining the freeze)? Could of course also just be the lowered priority of ME2 over e.g. ME3 suggested above ... Annoying!
