When activated does it last the entire fight or like cloaking does it fade after a specific time, thanks for any answers trying to decide my class for 2nd playthrough.

It stays until your shields are depleted or the mission you're on ends.

IMHO tech armor is the best class skill available. Unlike barrier and fortify it lasts until it's destroyed (heh then you just click it again) or until the mission ends. It's a SIGNIFICANT defensive bonus... and the shockwave is awesome when you're surrounded by HUSKS knocking you around like a pinball.

lasts until destroyed. Useful skill to learn, throw. Kills a husk with one hit. (level 3 throw at least)

Truth be told, Sentinel is one of, if not the, most effective class, but it's not the flashiest class. You are waaaaaaaay tough to kill with tech armor, you have warp for barriers and armor, and overload for shields and to overheat your opponents guns. Throw deals with husks, and you can grab an assault rifle and an ammo skill to make you a great all around character. Nothing will pop up that you can't deal with and you will never have to micromanage your parties abilities to compensate for your shortcomings. Great class.

I agree with Ender. I took Warp Ammo (Jack's loyalty ability) and the sniper rifle (when advanced weaponry popped up) I had so many options for dealing with any given situation my brain vaporlocked.

I was debating between the assault rifle and the sniper rifle when the time came and chose the Assault rifle for it's versatility.  How does the sniper rifle compare?  Do you essentially pull it out when people are far away and use the SMG or heavy pistol for up close?

I did the exact same thing. I really wanted to try the Vanguard and Engineer classes, but know I don't know if I'll be able to pull myself away from that omnipotent indestructibility.

Ender: The upgraded SMG works just fine for close up fighting for me, the sniper rifle basically filled the empty spot in the Sentinel's arsenal for distance (heh don't get me wrong, warp works MARVELOUSLY for distance, but you hafta have something to shoot while waiting for cooldown :D ).

I've tried most of the classes now. I'm liking the Sentinel because tech armor buys me the time I need to deploy the Singularity canon or my baby nuke launcher. In addition, I have problems keeping track of approaching opponents like varin and husks. Having the tech shields makes that less of an issue. They attack, they break through my shields, they die from the blast.
