I'll keep it short and to the point.  The last boss was way too far out there... The Mass Effect Universe has been built with so much care and detail and then you throw a over the top end boss at us.  Come on...

I loved the rest of the game (except planet resource gathering) so don't take my comments as to mean I didn't love the game, because I loved it.

/aggree?
/disagree?

Yeah I saw the same thread somewhere else. The end boss did look pretty silly.

The biggest problem with the end boss is that if you've got the big-ass heavy weapon and the ammo upgrades he takes two hits to kill; I had more trouble with the bloody husks!

Do people forget that Mass Effect 1 ended with us fighting a mechanical frog zombie? In the end, I really could care less what the end boss looks like. As long as there is some sort of explanation for it, which there is. Gameplay trumps story sometimes. They want the final fight to be big, so they made it big.

I agree that the final boss was ridiculous, but don't forget that in ME1 you fought Zombie Saren and that in ME2 you were actually a Cyborg Zombie

I don't know, it made sense with the story and how it was explained. It was a little disturbing, actually.

Yeah... a huge Human reaper floating in space compare to the other reapers does seems silly.

Big final fight?  Squatting behind a box and going PEW PEW when he's not PEW PEWing at you is big game play?  I agree the game play of the last boss in ME1 wasn't spectacular, but at least it flowed well into the story.  You chased down Saren through the whole game.  It makes sense to have to kill him in the end.

In ME2 you chase the Collectors and end up fighting a gigantic terminator?  Where did that come from?  If it was a life sized terminator with Sovereign's memory core I wouldn't have made this post, but a GIGANTIC terminator who's eyes are it's only weakness?

All I'm saying is the writing was good up until that.

To be fair, it wasn't fully "developed".  Like a fetus.

Kinda saw it coming when EDI said it was a reaper... But it wasn't a bad fight or a silly boss.. In mass effect 3 we'll be fighting thousands of them.

I thought that the final boss looked a little cheesy, but more than that, I found that it was way too easy. I found that I struggled when two Scions or a horde of husks were on the scene, but the final boss was almost laughably easy in comparison.

I thought it was pretty cool. Kinda reminded me of Apocalypse from X-Men lol. I was curious as to how exactly it would function or look like as a ship though.

The end boss reminded me alot of a terminator.

I thought he was silly, but only because after all this time you end up with a boss that has the classic glowing red KILL ME buttons all over his body.

Yes, it was ridiculous. If it had been a half-built Sovereign-style reaper, that would have been awesome though.

Personally, I'd have gone with less far out, or even WAAAY more far out, take the extreme angle. If they really wanted to make it some wild god-like human thing, they should've made it huger, add some mythological twist (or even religious if they felt brave enough) to it that would've seriously made you go, wtf?

Exactly my point... There are a million and one other things they could have done that would have made a lot more sense.

LOL... I just pictured a GIGANTIC old guy with flowing long white hair and beard.  The origins of God.

First time I saw it it made me thing soverign was modeled after a protheon face with all those squid tentacles but then I rembered sovierign was alot older then the protheons. It seems most reapers share the same shape as well, why they would divert this in ME2 needs some splainin imo.

I liked the final boss fight. If I had any say in these games though I know how to make the battles a bit more engaging I think. The final boss fight, had the reaper destroying the platforms, killing Collectors in his blasting area etc. Maybe having a time limit to escape certain platforms before they are destroyed (there's a side-quest in this game that has you manipulating the land to reach a certain item), or destroying its arms, then running around to destroy the body/head probably could have made it more engaging, but I think it was all still epic in the end.

They have a reason as to why the reaper was created, mix of synthetic and organics to mimic the civilization they created it from, so I don't think its ridiculous.

Its been discussed on other threads: The reapers made it look human because a human killed a reaper, seemingly a "god" in their(the reapers) eyes.

let me rephrase, story wise doesnt seem too ridiculous since it was explained, gameplay wise yes it could have been better.
