Yep..that's it right there...Kaidan and Ashley reacted exactly the way most of us reacted when we found out we were working for Cerberus. How some of us(myself) are still reacting...just doesn't work to well playing paragon.

If I am tearing my hair out because of what happened to the characters in game, I'd agree its a good thing.  If I'm tearing my hair out because I want to get my hands around their throats, not so much.

Wrong, the game took place over the course of a few months, on top of the 1 month later at the beginning of ME2. Love can easily develop in that time span.

Based on this statement I don't believe you even played ME1.

I've seen the Jack romance (only one I've seen so I can't speak for Tali).  She doesn't necessarily love you any more than Ashley does.  That's absurd.

We get it that you don't like the ME1 LI's.  Some people do.  Too bad for you.

Yea, pretty hypocritical to say Tali and Jack actually love you and Ashley doesn't because Ash says that before Ilos. If I recall, Tali said the same thing. "I want to feel you and share myself with you before the final battle." or something to that extent. Why do you say Ashley was just a fling but not Tali?

Actually the only place Ashley actually said she loved you was the letter. In ME1 she starts to say something like that but instead says "You know what? You want to know what I got to say you'll just have to come back."



Tali's voice oozes love and affection for you in nearly everything she says.



I wouldn't go so far to say Ashley couldn't have been serious, just that it was nipped in the bud before it had a chance to blossom. Tali's built up over two games really. Of course its left to the imagination as to what happened between the love scene in ME1 and the destruction of Normandy in ME2. You have two very different tones you can pick with her when you send her to the shuttle.

I don't know what more people could ask for. Granted, I was a bit disappointed with the length of the ME1 LI's role, but I'm not going to dump them b/c 'they don't love me anymore...whaaaa!!'. They obviously still do love you. I don't know how Bioware could've made it more obvious. Should they have added a journal entry stating that 'Ashley still loves you!!! Don't dump her for Tali!!!'.

I was okay with their reaction. I was upset that Ash was giving me a verbal lashing, but I understood where she was coming from. I was willing to except she was not going to join my squad and probably not cheat on her until she started spewing nonesense.

"I'm not a big fan of aliens..."

Wait... What? I knew she wasn't big on aliens in the first game, but I persuaded her and spoke to her on multiple occasions about how aliens weren't so bad. She admitted I was right and told me she would think different. Hell, she shed blood with aliens on multiple occasians, Virmire being a huge example.

Yet still, after all that, she doesn't like aliens. Character development for her went straight out the window after that.

Kelly loves aliens and she works for Cerberus. Hell, Miranda even complimented aliens on multiple occasions throughout the game. Ash still didn't want to join me though because Cerberus was racist... Yeah... Okay.

You haven't seen your supposed love interest in two years, thought they were dead, and when you finally do see them, that's the best you can come up with? Not even TRYING to understand Shepard's predicament? I'm not giving them a break - Garrus and Tali both have misgivings, but you don't see them having a fit.

OMG!  You are a genius!!!!! 

I knew TIM was in on all of this.  Convenient, he doesn't let you pick up Tali until after you meet with Ash.  Convenient.

If memory serves me correct, they didn't get unfrozen until after the Collectors left.

A tantrum?  Really?  I don't remember them rolling around on the ground, kicking their legs and pounding their fists, screaming 'Whaaah!!  I want a popcicle NAO!!!'.   I understood that they would have misgivings.  Hell, I agreed with them and was always secretly plotting a way to give Cerberus the middle-finger and leave.   Luckily, I got my chance

Because they are awesome?  Because they are highly trained Alliance soldiers and not colonist farmers?  Might be one of those reasons.

I don't think it even matters who 'really' loved you. I'm pretty sure BioWare is going to leave that up to the player to decide in ME3, it seems to be the way they are setting up these multi romances. So if you think Tali means more to you then Ashley does, and same for Ashley fans and so on.

Couldn't agree more.  Real relationships have rough spots, and that's what Bioware is trying to accomplish with the ME1 love interests: a real relationship.  I can't wait to get the happy reunion.  And there had better be a VERY happy reunion.  You hear me, Bioware?  HAPPY!  REUNION!  LOVE!  HAPPY!

 But none of the other people, except for the guy who escaped it entirely, were unfrozen even after the Collectors left. Doesn't the guy who avoided the swarm also make a comment about how it just figures that Ashley/Kaiden would be the only other person to escape? That's what I thought anyway. 

And just for the record, I didn't freak out about finding out that Shepard would be working for Cerberus. I had questions obviously, but I expected there would be a reason for it. Rationally speaking, jumping to conclusions without first asking questions and hearing a person out is very bad form.

Two things i wanted to say to Ashley but the game wouldn't let me.



1. "I've been dead for 2 f#&*@^ years, cut me some slack.

2. "I've told this to everyone one of met, but i'll say it again I DON'T WORK FOR CERBERUS, however they're the only people in this brain dead galaxy willing to give me what i need to kick some reaper ass.



And in response to her email:

"You practically call me a traitor back on Horizon, after everything we've done! and then think a simple apology, and copied poetry is gonna make me forgive you?

I understand the ME1 love interest's position better than I understand Shepard's, honestly. If I had had any say, I would have gone straight to Arcturus Station as soon as I had control of the Normandy, and I would have talked to Alliance leaders about my status, how I could continue to serve, and whether I should go along with Cerberus, or blow them off. In short, I would have acted like a soldier, and obeyed the chain of command, no matter what the extenuating circumstances. The fact that I couldn't do something like that, and the fact that I was never given an explanation WHY I couldn't do something like that, was maddening.



So when Kaidan or Ashley hear these rumors, and suspect that Shepard has been alive all this time, and working for Cerberus, I don't mind that they get a little emotional when they meet up. In fact, their responses to the situation are more realistic than Tali or Garrus.

If you go talk to Joker after you meet Kaiden/Ashley Shepard will admit that its over and the person has moved on. So as far as I'm concerned my Shepard is free and clear. And Garrus had better be continuing into ME3 as a LI or there WILL be consequences!!!! I'm terrified that ME3 will open with Thane dead though...considering he has only 8-12 months to live. That will be such a downer. "MORDIN SAVE MY THANE!!!!"



Still haven't gotten to Liara if I romanced her though. I get the feeling that she fell for someone the Shadow Broker killed and now she's out for blood.



Fun tidbit, if you have a ME1 LI you have a photograph on your desk of them. If you romance someone else the Photograph gets slapped face down lololol.
