Scripting scaled triggered encounters

Hi all,

Is there a way to create a triggered encounter that is scaled to the level of the PC's group? For example, let's say I want them to encounter a band of bandits, but I want the game to generate the quantity and level of the bandits to be an appropriate challenge for the PC's group level.

I looked through the game, and it seems like all the encounters have the creatures already placed in the area. I'm evisioning something more like the way you could create encounters in NWN, telling it what monsters to choose from and how much of a challenge it should be, and then letting the game generate the specific monsters based on the PC group level.

Any suggestions?

Creatures placed in the level will automaticaly scale to the player's level when the player first enters the area. Either add or choose and apropriate entry in the areadata.xls 2da and set the row ID as a variable on the area. The most relevant part of the 2da row is the min and max level, as creatures will not be scaled outside of this range.



If you want the creatures to scale at the time that you enter the trigger, you will have to make a custom trigger script. Use CreateObject to spawn whatever creatures you want at waypoints. You can also varry the number and type of creature this way. You still need to set up the area in the 2da for the scaling to work with this method.
