I have to say though, Harbinger felt certainly more adversarial than Sov. He took out the Normandy 1, slaughtered what must have been thousands upon thousands of humans, and ambushed the Normandy 2 on at least two occassions.

Agreed!  Though I kinda wish we had a conversation with Harbinger in ME2.

Sovereign was scarier/more badass, but Harbinger seemed like he was more capable/deadlier since he killed a crap ton of humans and was in the process of creating another reaper.  And he still survived his encounter with Shepard so he can still do alot more damage in ME3.

Harbinger wasn't even in the game enough to give a full representation. Its safe to say he could make Sovereign look like a ****, seeing as how the name Harbinger could indicate that he is the leader of the reapers.

It's a tie I reckon, they both give me the shivers.

Given Sovereign and Harbinger, I'd say that one of the defining traits of the Reapers is their creepy dialogue of awesome. I should have guessed it was a Reapers taking control of the collectors from the start.

I'm voting for Harbinger on this one. Sovereign was too full of itself for me to take it seriously. Harbinger on the other hand has been watching you, hunting you, and has a plan for YOU in specific. That's more unsettling.

We shall see when Harbinger shows up in the...metal...

...damn machines.

Until then, Sovereign was more directly intimidating. And had a better name.

So yes, sovereign does look longer.

Soverign had the reach, but Shepard had the flexibility.

I'm going to say Sovereign. Harbinger sounds more sociable ir the Reapers are even anything like that. I hate them both though, they are all arrogant and think the galaxy will lie down and die for them. Oh I can't wait to blow them all up in ME3.

Also while you talk to Sovereign here it kind of sounds like he doesn't even know that the Protheans are still around doing their work with Harbinger.

It sounds like Sovereign isn't aware of the fact that the Reapers destroy to create themselves.

Harbinger and his "I AM ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL." "I AM ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL." "RELEASING CONTROL." "I AM ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL." "THIS HURTS YOU." "I AM ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL." "DIRECT CONTROL." "THIS HURTS YOU." "I AM ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL." got old very fast. It will be very hard to take him seriously after all of his cliche evil speak.

This.

Sovereign was far more intimidating.

Sadly all this cliched nonsense from Harbinger just makes it clear that your only playing a game. With Sovereign I was in awe, and it brought a cretain degree of epicness to the game.

I agree. Sovereign was a rare and powerful thing to behold in ME1. Unlike most villians, he did not make you take a seat whilst he explained his master plan. Nor did he react in any way emotionally or otherwise when Shepard is all, "I Will Stop You!"

The final reveal, where Harbinger release his control on the Collector General Guy, only for him to look towards the impending explosion, actually had me feeling sorry for him. A charater though annoying vocally, installed a feeling of power, but in the end was nothing but a pawn to something truly, powerful.

To bad this was lost in the dialouge, like others have said. I'm sure as soon as he released control of the collectors he turned around to his Reaper friends and said, "And I'd have got away with it too! if it weren't for those meddling kids!"

I have a creepy Theory:-

The Prothean VI on Ilos lied, The Repears are Renegade Prothean AI's who destroyed the Protheans or made them into puppets (collectors)

I don't think so, because I think Vigil says that the Reapers killed at least one more race before the protheans

Wouldn't really say any of them were scary but Sovereign was the best.

When you talk to him on Virmire and he talks down to you was awesome.

Harbinger's still alive. Sovereign isn't.

The logical conclusion would be that the Reaper who still has the potential to destroy all life in the galaxy would be the scariest, right?

Harbinger is simply too distant a threat. In ME1 you see Sovereign all over the place. He's terrifying. He flies straight through an alliance vessel and takes no damage from it so he can get inside the Citadel. Through the entire game he is there giving you these consistent un-earthly threats that make you feel insignificant. What does Harbinger do? "ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL!" "IF I HAVE TO TEAR YOU APART SHEPARD, I WILL!" "I KNOW YOU FEEL THIS!" So...you tell me. Who is the best reaper? Short answer: it's unfair to make an assessment yet. We haven't really even seen Harbinger yet.

Then how do you explain the evidence that Mordin comes up to you with that points to the Citadel being created by a race before the Protheans?

Well also, there's another reason for Harbringer to abandon the Collectors that he's possessing. Remember what happened when Sovereign possessed Saren...and then didn't have anywhere to jump to afterwards? It's true that Sovereign was much more menacing, but Harbringer always felt like he was one step ahead of us, and his ability to body-jump at a moment's notice was actually a serious concern on the harder difficulties (He hits REALLY hard).

I can see, in-character, how fustrating or demoralizing it is to kill "Harbringer" only to suddenly have him possess the next Collector over and jump right back into the fray.

I hope this is not a omen for how ME3 will end, that the reapers can only be killed by attempting to possess Shepard, killing both of them. The whole "recruitment of armies" theory has me nervous enough already.

Harbinger is just not much of a people person. Like Tali's endless burbling, Harbinger's cliche threats are simply defense mechanism for his shyness. In fact, unlike Sovereign, who died in his attempt to destroy the Citadel and signal the other Reapers, Harbinger only lost a pawn against Shep, while he actually caught Shep by surprise once and killed him, as well as a few successful traps and ambrushs.

I always used to think that Darth Vader had the most intimidating synthetic voice until I met Sovereign. Harbinger just sounds like a punk.

"This hurts you," No actually it didn't is that the best line he could come up with? How is that anywhere as menacing as "You exist because we allow it, and you will die because we demand it".

Sovereign was very cool, but I liked Harbinger too.  All Reapers are awesome.

Think it has a lot to do with how the Reapers were presented. The first time we talk to Sovereign was pretty amazing.

The closest we get to talking to Harbinger is when he starts spamming about his OCD control needs. That said, I like both of them. Sovereign wins by a slight margin though Harbinger could easily make a comeback in ME3.
