Sovereign by far. You actually got to talk to Sovereign and that goes a lot farther than Harbinger ever does. You got to deal with Saren, technically Sovereign’s minion. Sovereign was a real threat.

With Harbinger I was more annoyed with it at every encounter with its headache making comments it constantly rattled off every chance it could. Seriously that’s the best it can do is to verbally assault me? I can only pray that in ME 3 I personally get to nuke Harbinger first just to shut it up. You also never get any sort of dialog with it or any of its minions unless you want to count the one sided ramblings of a Vorcha on Omega.

I guess the best way one can put this in a certain perspective:
-Sovereign is like Darth Vader. Scary as hell because he’s there and a physical threat.
-Harbinger is like Emperor Palpatine. Still a bit scary but not nearly as much since he’s behind the scenes.

Harbinger is an annoyance, while Sovereign was badass. Where Sovereign is like someone putting a gun to your face demanding you buy Viagra, Harbinger is just email spam.

An annoying spammer of one-liners and biotics, otherwise no sense of badass villainy. With a tiny exception at the very end, but far from enough to dethrone Sovereign,

Don't say that about Harbringer. When he said "I will hurt you" i got really scared and crapped me pants

What everyone else said.

Sovereign was quite intimidating. While talking with him in ME1 I was looking for the "OK, I surrender, please don't hurt me" option on the dialogue wheel but there wasn't one.

Harbinger was mostly cheesy.

Harbinger's dialogue was generic, bordering on comic book cheesiness. Sovereign was cooler by miles.

A LOT of people here are WRONG on the innernet! Which one of those reapers is Harbinger? Can you point it out for me cuz I'm seeing 3 reapers with distinct variations in their appearance...

Just wanted to point out that you are dumb.  That picture depicts three views of the same reaper.  The Bottom image is the Right Side View.  The Top Left image is the Top View.  The Top Right image is the Front facing view.

This "I am the Vanguard of you destruction" vs this "Shepard, Shepard, Shephard, Shephard"

The choice isn't difficult...

definetely Sovereign... the first time I had the conversation with him on Virmire it made my skin crawl.
Harbinger was an annoying nuisance that popped up in every combat situation with Collector Scum... it got tedious fighting them and it was downright painful to hear Harbinger repeat his few lines over and over and over.
As if his speech came from a scratched vinyl disc...

Harbinger, b/c at first I thought he was the Collector General, then the ending revealed to be a Reaper, and has the ability to take control of any sentient life force is a scary idea.

Wouldn't it be crazy that Harbinger is controlling the Council?

I think he can only Control the Collectors. Otherwise why didn't he assume direct control of Shepard?

Well also, there's another reason for Harbringer to abandon the Collectors that he's possessing. Remember what happened when Sovereign possessed Saren...and then didn't have anywhere to jump to afterwards? It's true that Sovereign was much more menacing, but Harbringer always felt like he was one step ahead of us, and his ability to body-jump at a moment's notice was actually a serious concern on the harder difficulties (He hits REALLY hard).

I can see, in-character, how fustrating or demoralizing it is to kill "Harbringer" only to suddenly have him possess the next Collector over and jump right back into the fray.

"WHERE ONE FALLS, ONE HUNDRED WILL REPLACE IT!" was a neat line too. Anyway, the subject of this thread inspired me to make this motivational for the motivational thread a couple weeks ago:

Sovereign anyday.

You can actually compare Sovereign and Harbinger directly to to other characters in the game:

Udina (Sovereign)
Harbinger (TIM)

:D

I would also have accepted in no particular order:

"Our numbers will darken the skies of every world!"

"Rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh, you touch my mind, fondeling in ignorance, incapable of understanding."

"We are the end of everything."

Almost forgot one of the best ones: "You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it."

"Human...you've changed nothing"

Sometimes its not just about the lines, but HOW those lines are delivered...

"YOU have FAILED...WE will find another way"

Sovereign by far! His voice, his way to speak and what he speaks are simply so godlike. Harbinger is more like arrogant troll. A very powerful troll but still a mere troll, not godlike. And he even blames the failure on collectors even though he was personally directing them. :D

Yes, Sovereign is arrogant too (as are all Reapers I think) but in different god-complex way. He is just stating facts and I think has power to back them up. You just believe what he says without question. Overall very intimidating person.Harbinger is just throwing direct insults and when he fails you get sort of "well get you nextime!" feel from him.

So Harbinger is a smalltimer compared to Sovereign. Too bad he is dead... Hopefully we get a change to have a nice one-on-one discussion with Harbinger too, to give him a change to redeem himself as a villain.

Can't say i share everybody's fascination with Sovereign. And Harbinger was no better with his teenage crap-lines. Still waiting for an adequate reaper who can mind his manners and talk like a grown-up
