---- For those who romanced Kaiden Alenko

So did you stay loyal, and was it hard? Or did you move on to someone else? Is so who and why?
As for me, I stayed loyal to Alenko. Thane was tempting, but everytime I went into my room Alenko's image would pop up and I couldn't do it. Plus his letter was very sweet.

I find it unsettling how many people are subscribing to the "out of sight, out of mind" mentality.

and yeah the letter tugged at the heart strings.

That picture was really hard to resist. Also, Jacob is annoying and Thane is ugly. (Yes, my femShep is shallow.) Don't ask me about Garrus; I'm staying loyal so leave it at that!

Kaidan is a douchebag IMO. Never liked him, he looks too much like Elvis Presley, and has a snide attitude. I was happy to let his ass explode on Virmire. And is it even POSSIBLE to stay loyal in game, or are you staying loying In Real Life, because you can't manage the thought of breaking up with Kaidan, on your consience or something? As far as I'm concerned, Kaidan and Ashley dump you either way.

The picture concerned me, because Anderson also has it on his desk. Makes you wonder who Kaidan was really dating on the Citadel. Especially given the 'dont ask don't tell' nature of the conversation you have with Anderson when you ask about him...

You needn't look too far
Stealing through the night's uncertainties
Love is where they are.
I stayed loyal to Ash (I know this is about Kaidan, but potato, potato you know). I'm a hopeless romantic.

The Gay Warden - I dunno which is gayer.. your name or the fact you came in here to **** out Kaiden. Anyways, yes it is possible, not everyone like ******. The chick have a choice of 2 aliens, and 1 guy who is far from anything like Kaiden. No way I'm romancing Garrus, he is like my partner in crime. ;<

It's not even possible to stay loyal in game is it?
Yup it is. If you pursue no romantic interests in ME2, instead of a sex scene before omega, you get a shot of you picking up the photo and staring at it longingly.

*Slow, sarcastic clap*
My name is for humerous effect, and I've had many compliments--as well as insults--about it. I'm straight. I just found the name funny.

I did one playthrough as a femShep a while back, and if I ever mange to do a playthrough with her, I wouldn't have any problems staying loyal.
Mainly because now there aren't any forced romances, so I can easily avoid any flirty dialogue (which I find slightly creepy when I'm playing as femShep).

I will have a Shepard or two who pine for him, though.
Honestly, I don't really think of it as cheating. Kaidan makes it pretty clear he wants nothing to do with Shepard as long as she's working with Cerberus. He pretty much breaks up with her. The email makes it clear you could get back together, later, but you're obviously not "in a relationship" with him during the game, when you can romance someone else.

I thought it was a really nice touch the way the scene focused on Shep looking at his photograph in the time before the Normandy hits the Omega. The look in her eyes, and then on her face as she looks down, could just mean so many things. "You hurt me so much." "I'm sorry I hurt you. I never wanted that." "It's so hard being without you." "I'm glad you're not here so you won't die on this mission." "I'll come through this and see you again." "I may die soon, but I'll love you to the end." Or so many other things. Seriously, that scene *won* by staying silent. The lack of words said so much.
Now, I'll admit, staying faithful was difficult. When my Shep was talking to Garrus and got to the line "I had reach... but she had flexibility" - man, I'm telling you, I swooned. The way he said it...Thane was also very interesting and I felt sad that things couldn't go further. But I'm happy with the choice I made. I had determined in advance that my Shep was going to be faithful to Kaidan no matter what happened, so succeeding at doing so was part of the greater victory of the endgame. :-)
Now I just wish I knew what's going to happen next. Waiting for ME2 was so hard - and there was so little material concerning Kaidan! (Of course, what was there was used very effectively.) Waiting for ME3 to find out... I am going to need superhuman patience.

Why do I always feel disturbed when someone says they were happy to leave Ashely or Kaiden on Virmire.

Because it usually indicates the early signs of a sadistic behavioral pattern?

Me too. It was a horrible choice. First time, I sacrificed Kaidan, even though it was incredibly painful. It hurt so much I had to reload. But sacrificing Ashley didn't feel much better. No matter what I did, I felt I had betrayed someone.Lord Jaric wrote...

Because it's a Bioware game and you get emotionally invested in the characters? Because it is supposed to be a tough choice and people openly claim glee at the ease in which they made it?
I'm in the process of going through ME1 with a Female Shepard, and plan on sort of romancing Alenko, right up to the point where I leave him to explode on Vimire. It creates a more dramatic (and traumatic) back story to have him esplode, it also leaves my conscience free for ME2. >.>

My Shep stayed loyal to Kaidan throughout ME2. Horizon was painful, the letter was a balm to the wound, and his photo in her cabin was a wonderful way of showing his presence (in a sense) and his absence.

A true romantic. My femshep will be staying loyal as well.
Waiting for ME3 to conclude the relationships will be tough as hell. I wish Bioware would surprise us and only make us wait 1 year.

My real life boyfriend was just sitting there laughing at my frustration.
"You're going to romance some else, right?"
"If you did that to me, I'd leave you too."
"I know."
And he does know. Tried to apologise to me over text once the first year we were dating. I wouldn't take that from a real guy, sure as heck not gonna take it from a fictional one. Me and Shep can do better and his name is Garrus... Hooray for loyal squdmates.
