I rented the game, so I do not have the manual to answer my question.

How do I crouch?

In ME1, I think it was simply click the left stick. However, I've tried that on ME2 and it doesnt work, I've tried every other button but have not been able to crouch.

There is no crouch in ME2 as far as I know. Given that your character already crouches when in the appropriate cover height, having it done manually is sort of a moot point.

Are you serious? ****ing screw ups man. How the **** are they going to leave out the ability to crouch? I don't give a flying **** about the stupid ass cover system. I want to crouch.

Sometimes there isn't an object in which I can take cover on, and crouching minimizes yourself as a target. It's a natural thing to do in a firefight.

Seriously, I seem to recall them saying they wanted to really concentrate on the combat system. Leaving out the ability to crouch sounds like they didn't concentrate very hard.

Eeerh given that most of the objects can be used as cover this time around, needing to crouch manually seems somewhat useless, especially since crouching outside of cover was something that wasn't really needed in ME1 anyway.

the ability to randomly crouch wouldn't even be helpful.

Hey don't get me wrong, the storyline is badass, the graphics are badass, but when I'm playing a shooter, I want to be able to crouch. There's nothing wrong with wanting to do that, especially since it was in the first one, it should be in the second.

crouching is vital to a mission complete.

How are you gonna get past all those barley opened gates?

*have not played ME2*

having been in my fair share of firefights i can tell you from experience that a dude crouched in the middle of a room with no cover is just as easy to shoot in the face as a dude standing up in the middle of a room without cover

i bet your the kid that thought that jumping around and crouching in halo helped prevent people from hitting you. lol...

bottomline, if you are not near or in cover, you deserve to get shot. The focus is on combat and tactics IE not exposing yourself like an idiot

I don't like that we still can't jump as far as I am concerned the best thing to do in video games is jump on things ( because it's not like we can do it in real life *sarcasm*).

P.S. the part that wasn't in brackets was not sarcasm

I used to crouch outside of cover on ME1 all the time.

On ME2, there isn't always cover to crouch behind.

And when you are crouched at cover and try to fall back when being flanked, or move up to gain ground, why would you want to stand up?

The whole point of being crouched is to keep you head down. Apparently most of you can't comprehend that concept. Its probably becausemost of the people in this forum have a slobbering love affair with RPGs that y'all dont even understand how important something so simple as crouching can be in a video game shooter.

everyone aims high so getting lower works well.

wow what a pathetic thread, since when your outside of cover you die rapidly I would guess the decision to remove crouching was based on the combat systems requirement of the use of cover.

ergo Crouching next to useless.

Taking cover wasn't really needed in ME1. Neither was aiming.  What's your point?

There have been plenty of times when I wanted to crouch behind cover with out being stuck to it.

And if you are trying to get to cover, and the only cover between you and the AI is waist high, what sense is it to be moving tall to the next available cover?

Id rather crouched moving so the cover I am moving to is still a form of cover.

Another reason I want cover is, when in the game's cover system, the character has his back to the wall, in order to shoot from cover, he either stands up, exposing his entire upper body, or steps out from a corner of a wall exposing his entire body.

If I could crouch without having to be stuck to a wall, I could angle my line of sight so that when I go to shoot, less of my character's body is exposed.

Gears of War, why did the charcter crouch low when running? To minimize themselves as a target when movng to cover.

Any of you ever play paintball?

If you have or do, dud you ever crouch at all during a match, or did you stand the entire match, and when taking cover you put your back to the wall? Did you expose most of your body when you went to shoot from cover?

It is no different in a video game. The fundamental concepts are the same.

Not only that, but I only crouch in Modern Warefare 2, but even at that, it's so easy to kill someone when they crouch while you're shooting them..think about it, you're aiming at them and they duck down, easily lining up your shot with their head.

This is like the people who cried about how Rainbow Six never had the ability to jump..who jumps in a fire fight?

This is Mass Effect, not Rambo. Use cover.

Thread over.
