I won't pretend I know much about video cards and specs. I'm just
looking for someone to say if I can't run it or if I can and something
is wrong.

This is the minimum needed Video card on their website

VIDEO: ATI Radeon X850 128MB or greater

This is mine

ATI Radeon 9550 / X1050 Series 256MB

I updated the drivers completely. I dont think anything should be wrong, but maybe there is. Please give me a clue!

When I go to start the game it tells me that it can not detect a supported video card. Which is why I am puzzled

Is this in the config tool? (Have you seen a spash screen from the game launch?) If it's from the config tool, then it should be ok, and you should be able to run the screen, it may have simply not recognized your card. It shouldn't block you from playing. If this is from the game, try running the config tool and select the reset settings option.

I can see the splash screen that provides me with the options to Configure, Support, Uninstall, Play, etc.

If I press Play I see a DAO splash and then a box pops up titled Quit. Failed to Detect a Supported Video Card. Then it closes everything.

The configure tool doesnt seem to help at all, although I am unsure if I am doing it right. I do not see a reset settings option.

The Config Tool doesnt allow me to do anything. It will rescan something but it does not provide any details after the scan and the repair section only offers shortcuts, firewall exemption, and clear the download cache.

Help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance and sorry for my ignorance.

I uninstalled all of my drivers and then downloaded the latest ones. I still got the same Quit message.

Please do not crosspost.  This exact same thread was active on the old "Legacy" forum, and making a long story short, the actual answer is to get a new PC.  The specific problem was failing to upgrade from a six year old, extremely low quality $15 to $20 video card from four or five years ago, but the truth now is that any PC that is so old it has that video card, probably isn't worth upgrading any more.

I had this with my Radeon 4890. I had to roll back my drivers from 9.10 too 9.6 and then reinstall the game. Runs perfect for me now so i hope this helps, i was so frustrated after waiting all day to play the game only to get that stupid error message and have to ****** about sorting it out.

Thanks for the advice Nibben, I'll try that when I get home.

@Gorath, thanks for the tip. Youre right, it isnt worth it to upgrade my machine. So if it isn't the drivers being funny, I probably won't continue messing around with it. Thanks for trying to help.

Nope, didn't work. Thanks for the tip anyway Nibben. I guess my vid card is outdated for this game. Although at first glance I did not think it was.

It was the broken communication among the three (video driver, Direct3D, and the game) that resulted in the Direct3D not being able to recognize the HD 4890.

That last message looked like a TROLL.  That's why I've ignored it all day.  I might have ignored it anyway, had it been in halfway decent English, because I usually ignore all illiterate messages / messagers.

It is a type of computer chip that is optimized for creating a graphical display and outputting it to a monitor.
