I think when the ship left, the control failed.
This makes a lot of sense. This would also explain how the rest of the colonists who weren't yet brought on board were OK after you drive the Collector ship off.

it like a few other obvious plotholes are never explained, i seriously doubt the collectors missed the human in the middle of the swarm, standing up in an open area.

Maybe it ISN'T Ashley/Kaiden...or maybe they were "freed" after some sort of "alteration"....?

The ship left? It's not a paralyzing agent it's a mass effect field like stasis.
Well, it's what I think made them set free. If you have a better explanation then shoot?

finding a cure on the base in addition to destroying it and saving your crew would of felt really good.

Then why would you bump a 2 month old thread?aprilia1k wrote...
I just don't care.
...Folks who played ME1: try to see Ashley from the perspective of someone who discovered Mass Effect with ME2, and never played ME1 (and having seen the combat, etc.. compared to ME2 - doesn't want to really). Anyway - Ashley? She was a friend/love of Shephard? Could have fooled me! The doctor, the engineers, Joker, others --- they say that the Alliance turned their back, called Shephard looney for claiming the Reapers were a threat, etc... Basically screwed over the dead hero... And who is Ashley loyal to? Shephard? NO! The ****g buttwipe Alliance... and further, she totally disrespects him, after he clearly saved HER life AGAIN, along with HALF the Horizon colony. Her thanks? "How could you Shephard?" "I know where MY loyalties lie... Alliance all the way..." etc... Sh**! What a C-word!!!! I COULD CARE LESS ABOUT ASHLEY! SHE TOTALLY TURNED HER BACK ON THE GUY 10 SECONDS AFTER CALLING HIM A HERO AND A GOD!!!!???? WHAT AN A--WIPE. YOU GUYS CAN HAVE ASHLEY. I will kill her or ignore her if she is in ME3... and I HOPE she is not... she aint no friend... she's a disloyal wench!!! There, I said it. How would YOU feel about Ashley if you weren't tainted by the ME1 memories, and only knew her from ME2???? He TRIED to find out about her and Anderson wouldn't tell him anything... HELL, Anderson understood and appreciated him being against Collectors, i.e. WITH Cerbrus. He said "It's up to you to take care of the Collectors and I will run interference here." GUESS he liked Shephard alot more than Ashley ever did. Aaargh. She's not even pretty... and without the ass-pads, she'd probably have a flat butt too!! :-)

Threads rise, evolve, fade away, then at the nadir of their obscurity, they are resurrected.
