As the topic says...I tried everything in the sticky on this forum and I still have to manually start EACoreServer.exe before mass effect 2 if I want to play the game.

I updated Adobe Air, used the activation.air file and tried to use EAAccessInstaller despite the EACoreServer already being in the correct spot. I uninstalled/reinstalled the .air file to ensure the activation.exe ended up on the correct path, and the paths EACore_App.ini are also pointing to where everything is .

I got the Digital Collectors Edition, bought in the EA store and downloaded through the EA download manager. I'm running windows xp 32bit. The game itself runs fine if I start EACoreServer first each time, but that can't be the intended way to start a game.

I hope this is still being investigated, the game itself is great. :)

oh, and I'd use the search but it seems to have been disabled. I didn't find any similar topics in the last few pages.

Ok,

I've been researching this same exact problem on DAO. It started for me late yesterday (2/1/10) after I updated to ver. 1.02 (to accomodate the Return to Ostagar add-in). I d/l my copy of DAO from direct2drive. Is this an issue only being experienced by those of us who did NOT get a hard copy of the software?

Hoping Bioware posts a response here. I was planning to purchase ME2 this way (via d/l) but will now wait to see how this issue is addressed. Same goes for the upcoming DAO expansion.

Yeah the same thing happened to me with DAO after the update as well. but the things mentioned in that link (which is a sticky on this forum) didn't help me - except for starting the service each time.
