I romanced Liara in ME and I know by the end of this I wanted to smack her and go WTF!?!?!  I've been dead for 2 years, I'm about to go on a suicide mission, and you seem to not even care....  Now I'm playing a Kaiden LI import and if he jsut reacts the same way Ash did on my first play through I'm going to be even more upset,  What do you mean why didn't I try to contact the team, I just bloody woke up a week ago and I've been busy saving the galaxy again....

Not really. Ashley was right when I ran into her on Horizon--I was working with an organization that did all kinds of awful stuff in the first game. It was a real tragic, gut-wrenching moment for me. (And I couldn't say, "Y'know I keep a picture of you in my cabin" or anything!)

Liara kisses you and then later tells you all about how she rescued you. What is your issue? Did you just not explore her dialogue and missions?

Kaidan and Ashley are far more brief. I was very happy with my Liara encounter.

My wife was complaining that there wasn't a renegade interrupt on her reunion with Kaiden. She sooo wanted to do a "Say goodnight Manuel" on him...

"I've had enough of your snide accusations" would probably have been more fitting.

I did Liara's mission but she doesn't say anything about her rescuing me just about getting screwed by the shadow broker and that she wants revenge,  and the least she could do is say good bye considering I'm about to go on a suicide mission :/

I'll haev to see if they react differently but I've heard they just go right into yelling at you, not OMG YOU'RE ALIVE!?!?!?!  If it comes across the same way again I'm going to be like wtf, at least let me explain, oh wait, BW didn't give us that option....

I actually missed the dialuge because I was afraid it would be a renegade responce but I saw the youtube clip of it but you get that regardless of if she was your LI from what I understand.  I understand she got her own quest right now but come on, there's no reason I shouldn't ahve been able to invite her out for dinner or actually spend some quality time, it was all shadow broker this and shadow broker that.  Add to it I have a feeling that her and her friend were more then just friends.  I went back before I went into the relay and then came back in hopes of getting some sort of a responce out of her but no dice.

Yeah, I really wish they had implimented the non Liara LI's better because all you get with them is the opening scene and then the quick little bit on Horizan and that doesn't go too well.

I was disappointed with Liara's role in ME2, but I've already ranted about it today and don't fancy doing it all again.

She was of course referring to what you say when you punch out the scientist at the beginning of ME1. Image IPB

My own encounter with Ashley went more along the lines of:

Ashley: You couldn't contact me once in the last two years to let me know you were alive????

Me: Hello? Coma?

I think Shepard probably WANTED to grab them and shake them and make them see, but in the case of Ash/Kaidan, both parties handled it badly. Bioware made sure (on purpose, for story reasons) that you couldn't talk your way out of an unpleasant situation (which I applaud).

I know at first I was angry with Ashley, because Shepard was angry and hurt and frustrated and all that. But once he calmed down (once I calmed down) I could see her side of the coin. Then I got the email and it appeared that she could kind of see my side of the coin as well.

It's not ideal for Shepard and Ashley, but it's worth the struggle because they love each other.

I find it interesting that we get to do all these loyalty missions. Because a couple of different people mention that the team needs to be free of distraction and get some closure. They say that on a couple different occasions, like they're alluding to the fact that Shepard wont' be getting his desired closure. Once again he is putting his own personal feelings and wishes aside for the good of the mission.

In the end, just before the suicide mission Shepard finally has his moment when he looks at Ash's picture. But obviously it brings him no comfort because there are so many things left unsaid and he knows that now he may never get to say them.

Bring on the epic, angsty romantic conclusion in ME3 I say!!!

Personally I thought - good riddance. I know Liara saved Shepard, yes, but I only romanced her because there were no other options.

Technically since you were being dead for two years it's them who'd spent all this time without you in their life and having to cope with the thought of your loss, for you this separation lasted mere days.

And if your need for attention and to be pampered is so great you want to slap your supposed SO for having their own life and their own problems rather than be all about you you you, then perhaps they're better off without you.

That's a good point.  I guess that's why Shepard is the leader and the rest are the followers.

You missed out on an option for her dialogue.

Return to Liara after informing her than none of the suspects fit and she realizes it's her assistant.

She tells you Nyxaris had some very interesting information and then gives you some cash.

ask: So what happens now?

After she tells you she will search and shine light into the shadows until she finds the Shadow Broker and then hit him with a biotic field so strong that what's left of his body will fit into a coffee cup.

Choose the investigate option, then choose the anger at shadow broker

Shepard: That anger can't be from what you just told me. What else happened between you and the shadow broker?

Liara: Did Cerebrus tell you how they recovered your body? I gave it to them. I gave you to them Shepard. Because they said they could rebuild you. And to do that I had to take it from the Shadow Broker, who was going to sell your corpse to the Collectors.

ask: Why keep this a secret?

Shepard: Why didn't you tell me this before now?

Liara: Because I screwed it up Shepard. I barely escaped with my own life. And when I gave you to Cerbrus I told myself I was doing it for you, for a chance to bring you back. But I knew Ceberus would use you for their own business. And I let it happen. Because I couldn't let you go. I'm sorry.

Personally I answered - I'm not.

Shepard: You did the right thing Liara. My mission is important. I couldn't do it if you hadn't given me to Cerbrus.

Liara: Thank you I... I was afraid you would hate me. So, that's why I must destroy the Shadow Broker. For what he did to my friend, and to you, and whatever he's doing with the Collectors.

Shepard: Be careful out there Liara Don't turn into the thing you're hunting.

Liara: Say's the dead Specter working with Cerebus.

Not sure why people had an issue with Liara's reunion she's far warmer than Kaidan/Ashley. Kaidan/Ashley did ****** me off on Horizon though, they seemed to think it was Shepard's choice to be brought back to life by Cerberus, I just wanted to say, "Umm yeah, I was DEAD, I didn't exactly consent to this either. So don't get all pissy at me for being civil with the people who resurrected me."

You have to explore one of the bottom left comments that inquires about why she hates the shadow broker.

Exploring all dialogue options is fun. She told me all about how she rescued me from the Shadow Broker, and how a friend of hers was killed along the way. That's why she wants revenge.

There is also a very emotional moment where she tells you she was afraid you would hate her for turning your body over to Cerberus.

I was very happy with the way this whole encounter went, it certainly is much better story-wise then Ash or Kaidan telling you to F off.

I wish I could tell Kaidan that he's fired and that I'm going to romance Garrus but I don't think I can. Too bad for him, I'm going to cheat on him with my female Shepard.

Yeah, why does Jacob get to put his Daddy issues behind him or Samara get closure on her daughter so they can focus on the mission but apparently shepard doesn't need closure to focus?  I mean come on, if I just found out I was dead for two years, hoped around the galaxy for a little bit trying to save humans and then ran into my one true love just to have them **** me out, I'd be pretty upset and need some closure.
