* raises hand

Whatever problems they have with Shep or his new allies (and even that is pushing it), they know how important his mission is. The Reapers > all other threats or concerns. They know this, they fought by his side and now he's going into battle against an enemy that could very well kill him. That they sit it out is totally selfish of them.

If Ash/Kaiden or Liara (and I hate to say this about her since I feel more sympathy towards her than I do the other two) really cared for Shep they would have joined not only to assist him against the Collectors/Reapers but against Cerberus as well.

After "warm" greetings from both of them (in ME1 I chose Ash, but after Horizon... yes, I wanted to smack her) I'm curious about one thing. Is is possible to become friends with both Ashley and Liara in ME1 so they can greet you more or less like a friends in ME2 (no romance option)? I'm asking becouse as a paragon my Shepard shouldn't cheat on any of them... and Miranda is a lot cooler than Dr "Smurf" and Ms "Jarhead"... :P

It's possible, yes. Ashley's romance is a little hard to dodge without acting like a total douche, but it's doable. I Virmire'd her, so it was Kaidan my male Shep met up with. I was little creeped out when he said he felt like he'd lost a limb when I disappeared. Seriously?

QFT. In the end, Ash was all 'I know where my loyalties lie' and bashing out accusations of betrayal despite what she and Shep had been through. She should have known that Shep wouldn't have worked with Cerberus just for kicks.

Conversely, Miranda turns her back on Cerberus when she realises they are wrong and Shep is right. She's got far more stones than Ash ever had.

I'm expecting fireworks in ME3 though.... :P

To be fair, Ashley does help you steal the Normandy in ME1--though she might've thought it would all turn out well in the end.

Doesn't detract from how cool it felt for Miranda to turn on Cerberus at the end, though.

I've never romanced Miranda but by the end of the game I did feel a great deal of respect for her as somebody Shepard could rely upon.

The reason she didn't over-react to you was because she's quite possibly being watched, and she doesn't want to show signs of weakness. Pretty obvious considering when she does embrace/kiss you as an LI, the very next thing she does is look over her shoulder and suddenly freeze up. She can't afford to get complacent.

Also, if the comic is anything to go by, Liara was pretty aware that you were alive. pretty sure she's hiding something.

Well she knew Cerberus was trying to bring you back, I don't think she knew you were back on your feet yet, I mean Shepard was brough out before they were done.

Still knew that you were going to come back sooner or later.  To do what Liara did, she had to believe the chances of success were pretty high.

More importantly, there are eyes and ears for the Shadow Broker everywhere.  She has to keep up the act, and in the context of the game, you have more important things to do.

As a Christian I believe that Jesus is coming back sooner or later, I believe it to be a fact, doesn't mean I'm not going to be excited and overly joyed to see it happen (if it happens while I'm alive).

Keep up what act?  The shdow broker already knows what you mean to her, regardless of being a love interest or not and what she went through to get you back.  Not like it should be suprised to find out that she was exstatic to see you back.  I guess part of this is just me feeling that there wasn't enough shock of you being alive after being dead for two years, everyone just seemed to brush it under the rug rather quickly.

Why smack ME 1 LI, why not the wrtiers, devs or whoever made them behave that way. I was ok with them being not recruitable and having cameo because it was said that you can continue your romance but what is in ME 2 quite hard call continuation.

so yeah i would smack and yell but not at ME1 LI

I was quite satisfied w/ my Liara encounter. The only way it could have been better for me would be:

Shepard: What the **** happened to you!!

Liara: You died.

That's essentially what the conversation amounted to, just stretched out a bit more. W/ Ash/Kaiden you can explain the absent 2 years, not so much w/ working w/ Cerberus.

Ashley/Kaiden: Why didnt you try and contact me?
Shep: Because you are a big, stupid, jellyfish!

I'm not going to lie...I lol'd.

I was upset at first with Ashley's reaction, but then I got her e-mail and I forgave her. I mean..I was going to cheat on her anyway, but Miranda rejected me so..yea. I'm still with Ashley apparently and I'm glad I was rejected by Lawson.

I for one completely agreed with Ashley/Kaiden on Horizon. We're working for Cerberus.

Now, Bioware tried VERY hard to show both sides of Cerberus: the dark side which that experiments and tortures children and innocents, and the side that might actually be trying to do some good. I remain unconvinced. I blew up the station at the end because ultimately I do not think the ends justify the means, and thus Cerberus is evil for me.

And this is Ash/Kaiden's point. If I were them, quite frankly I wouldn't join Shepard either. I just wish there were an option to tell them that I thought they were right.

Whe Casey said, "We're sure everyone will cheat," what he meant was "We're sure everyone will cheat because our handling of ME 1 LIs is so bad, most players will give up on them."

Wait wait, they actaully said they were sure we'd all cheat?  Wow....I'm sorry but their LI options in ME2 aren't that compelling to be able to be sure that everyone would cheat.

The ME1 love interests were not all that likeable. ME2 love interests are way better.

Personal preferences, I didn't have any issues with Ash or Liara, Kaiden just seemed like too much of a pansy for an alliance office and love interest of a specter.  Honestly non of the new potential LI's really interest me all that much.

For me, now with better chances/opportunities. I realized how much of a stuck up **** Ashley is and how much I really despised her personality. Didn't even give you a chance to explain yourself and didn't give you a spick of trust. So im happy she stormed off.

Honestly this to me was BW railroading us into cheating on our ME LI's.

You missed out on an option for her dialogue.

Return to Liara after informing her than none of the suspects fit and she realizes it's her assistant.

She tells you Nyxaris had some very interesting information and then gives you some cash.

ask: So what happens now?

After she tells you she will search and shine light into the shadows until she finds the Shadow Broker and then hit him with a biotic field so strong that what's left of his body will fit into a coffee cup.

Choose the investigate option, then choose the anger at shadow broker

Shepard: That anger can't be from what you just told me. What else happened between you and the shadow broker?

Liara: Did Cerebrus tell you how they recovered your body? I gave it to them. I gave you to them Shepard. Because they said they could rebuild you. And to do that I had to take it from the Shadow Broker, who was going to sell your corpse to the Collectors.

ask: Why keep this a secret?

Shepard: Why didn't you tell me this before now?

Liara: Because I screwed it up Shepard. I barely escaped with my own life. And when I gave you to Cerbrus I told myself I was doing it for you, for a chance to bring you back. But I knew Ceberus would use you for their own business. And I let it happen. Because I couldn't let you go. I'm sorry.

Personally I answered - I'm not.

Shepard: You did the right thing Liara. My mission is important. I couldn't do it if you hadn't given me to Cerbrus.

Liara: Thank you I... I was afraid you would hate me. So, that's why I must destroy the Shadow Broker. For what he did to my friend, and to you, and whatever he's doing with the Collectors.

Shepard: Be careful out there Liara Don't turn into the thing you're hunting.

Liara: Say's the dead Specter working with Cerebus.

Holy crap I had a totally different conversation with Liara O_O I'm gonna need to play this once more.. Lol

Shouldn't Ash's loyalties lie with Shepard being her former
commander and potential love interest returned from the dead?  I mean
she had no problem say screw you to the alliance when it came to
getting off the citadel anf off to Ilos.

Becuase shepard doesn't know they are in a game and there are people writing and directing her life?  But yes, I'd rather smack the BW people.

But they were doing that on their own. There was no Cereberus involvement.

Personally I thought - good riddance. I know Liara saved Shepard, yes, but I only romanced her because there were no other options.

As crappy as this sounds, yeah, I did the same thing. She was the more enticing option out of the two (Ashley being the other option in this case). I plan on doing a playthrough where Shep stays loyal for use in ME3, but this time around main Dude Shep was unfaithful.

I wish you could do more, all you can really do is stay on the defensive here, I mean Shepard can talk their way out of impossible situations with either their charm (for some reason in this game that means threatening about half the time) or intimidation, but they can't get a word in edgewise against Ashley or Kaiden, seems really really odd.

Oh I'm fine with the fact that out ME LI's didn't join us but we should have at least gotten the chance to explain :(
