It just occurred to me (while mulling over whether, as captain, I shouldn't be able to discipline the Normandy crew members that spend all their time lounging about in their quarters or sat in the mess hall rather than working; a spot of scanning duty ought to knock them in to shape, although that's probably classed cruel and unusual punishment) that amongst the many things missing from ME2 that were present in ME1 are the people wandering about the place doing whatever it is they do.  Ok, they just used to walk round in a loop and there weren't many of them, but it added a bit of atmosphere; everyone in ME2 is glued to the spot, contributing to what strikes me as a lack of atmosphere in the game -- no chit-chat from the squad, all the hub worlds feel cramped, and there seem to be a lot fewer micro-quests...
