It's not a flamebait response, nor was it my intention if it came across that way.  I just see an incredible amount of blindness here with a folks who have erected a small shrine to the Tali character.  After seeing several of the fan artworks of her by folks here (and others via text descriptions), it seems that some folks here simply assume she's some exotic version of Ashley or Miranda under the enviromental suit, when we've had little bits of info dropped on us that would say that "No, ya'll are a little bit off here and there with what you're expecting."

All in all, I keep my expectations realistic in regards to what she really looks like (unlike others here) for if that day does come and we do see what she looks like, that (unlike so many folks here), I won't have my world crushed by it and flood the forums with QQ posts like "Waaaah!  That's not Tali!  You guys screwed her up!!!!!!111!!11"  All the while, I'll say: "Yeah, that kinda does look like what I expected, based off what they told us in the past."

Fair enough, you just worded it in a way that was guaranteed to incite anger.  I do agree that the CGI model you quoted is probably a fair bit closer to actual Quarians than the night-elf Tali's we see but the way I see it...until we actually know what they look like, might as well let people have some fun ^_^

I'll admit that the one key thing about Tali that does evoke a certain degree of ferver from her supporters is that she's been the only true sweetheart of the bunch of folks who's been paired up with Shepard.  I've said before and I'll say it again, I have nothing against her at all and in fact, with my 2nd play through, she'll be my love interest this time around and it'll be her save game that I import when it's time to play ME3.  So I'm definately not anti-Tali.  Quite the opposite:  Very Pro Tali.  Just also realistic in my expectations.

While I tend to agree with the scottish engineer that Tali's suit is 'snug in all the right places'. I don't think Tali is about the visual attraction at all. Sure, her figure is feminine enough not to scare you off, and the mystery about how she really looks is leaves a lot your imagination. But Tali's real appeal is much more about her personality and Liz Sroka's incredibly cute voice, than about looks.
Tali will still be adorable to me, even if she isn't a knockout under the faceplate. It would be sort of disapointing if she was truly ugly, but I'll settle for average looking with an odd exotic ear/tentacle/whatever or too. Beauty and bust isn't everything.

Their plight makes it pretty damm depressing. i mean the girl in the citadel you ( may or may not ) have helped is living in a turian shelter and eating nutrient paste.

That's what you get for trying to pull a genocide and fail at it.

I find Quarians to be skinny-fat, also they just have human accents besides Tali and the traffic control guy on the Flotilla, as well as having chicken feet

These last two days have seen a rapid increase in Thread Necromancy.

I would suggest calling a local Paladin to eliminate the problem.

Apparently beauty is in the eye of the blind.....which leads me to ask how can they play this game?

By definitely Tali's attraction can't be about her facial appearance, since we don't see it.

Tali became a popular character in ME1 due to two things - Her personality, as written by BioWare writers, and Liz Sroka's exceptional voice acting, which manages to convey emotion through a faceplate in a way Mark Meer can only dream of doing.

Don't get me wrong. Meer delivers Renegade one-liners with Bruce Willis-style aplomb, growling his way through a Renegade Shepard with a vitriol and sense of timing that puts many Hollywood wannabe action heroes to shame. I can't imagine -anyone- delivering the "Because it's a big stupid jellyfish" line any better than Mark Meer does it.

But he can't do conversational dialogue well at all.

Liz Sroka, on the other hand, makes every single one of Tali's lines sound authentic, nuanced and realistic. Voice and personality are all we get to 'see' of Tali, and the BioWare writers and Liz Szroka give both aspects great depth and texture.

That's just ME1. ME2 gives Tali more lines, more interaction, more character depth, more emotion... Tali's tears in her loyalty mission are reminiscent in many ways of Isolde's tears in Dragon Age, if you choose to kill her son, Connor. Louiza Patikas tries hard and does a decent enough job. But she's no Liz Sroka.

I find them ugly actually.... tho that does not mean I don't love them, I find them really interesting and Tali is one of my fav characters because of her personality. I just don't find them atractive at all.

The Quarians are an interesting species, I'd say quite orignal, but I don't know much sci-fi (just a bit of Star Wars, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and the Adventures of Isambard Smith), but I cannot stand Tali.

I dunno, maybe I was put off by her desire to exterminate the geth. And her endless stalk about Quarian culture. Garrus gives me stories about Krogan Testicles, Wrex tells me about his merc exploits, all giving me an insight into their culture, but with Tali it was culture overkill. SHe was a bit better in ME2, though what with her and garrus having that 'lift' conversation, and what she said to the racist volus.

ME2 had Quib-Quib as well, who was awesome.

Yeah, the aliens that give you the wiki on their culture are always a bit painful, like the two diplomats when you first stumble onto the citadel. That was quite a downer back at the time.
Same with Liara and the first Hanar-merchant. And Thane, if i think about it.

So, she's definitely not alone with this.

I liked to talk with the admirals alot. I like Xen, she's very poised ;) and Qwib-Qwib is awesome. Reegar anyways.

I always thought that would have to be the ultimate joykill... you get all hot and bothered, and then you have to help your significant other out of their still-suit - which must take a good half-hour, empty out all the waste-pouches and disconnect all the... plumbing, then take a shower, then sponge-down with antibiotics, then hope the dose of reality you just had hasn't given you a cold shower to last the entire night.

You'd really have to be in love, or another Quarian...
