During the landsmeet, my female arcane spirit healer (Aeris) let Alastair kill Loghain.   I was thinking, since Alastair was in love/romance with Aeris, she would become queen.

Instead he dumped her with some ridiculous excuse about having to produce an offpsring and how he could not do that with Aeris because he was afraid two people with tainted blood should not have children.

Here is the story flaw.   I understand that he will marry a human female noble.   Would this character also not have drank the tainted blood to become a grey warden?

Anyway, thank gawd Zevran was there to pick up the pieces (he is such a mess...lol)

well, he can't marry a mage for the same reason he can't marry an elf or a dwarf. It wouldn't sit well with the nobles. the baby thing is just an excuse.

Sorry but that is no story flaw. You just got used. What did you expect from a guy raised by nobles and the Chantry?

LOL! Alastair is not the brightest bulb in the pack. He is too dumb to use someone.

Alastair is probably the reason they don't have an INTelligence stat in this game lol.

See, he had you fooled all this time. I bet Arl Eamon put a bug in his ear about producing progeny.

Why do the writers have to come up with some spectacular excuse?  What, you never got dumped with a lame excuse like that?  Lucky you!

Wouldn't be the first time Eamon put a bug in a King's ear about progeny!

What a chap, eh? " Ohhh,. i was hoping you would like me just for me!" but then " I can't just like you for you." Kill Eamon for that one. I blame him and his baby lust. like HIS kid turned out juuuuust fine..... *rolls eyes*

So rich. I nerdrage over that one and it hasnt even happened to me yet. lol ( I have that set up this playthough though) What you need to do is carry around a Zevran in your back pocket...he is exceptionally good at picking up the pieces. (kidding!...sort of)

Dont feel rained on. My female mage got dumped, too. I dont get it. Did it not mean anything that she was his first??? Well, that's ok. I just went to Leliana and Zevran! At least they understood her value! lol

It kind of makes sense- average people in Ferelden are so scared of mages they would throw a fit if the king was going to marry one.

If your persuade is high enough you can tell Alistair off and he'll admit he's an idiot and stay in love with you.

Well yeah if he's hardened you can stay as his mistress, but you'll never marry him.

I always have coersion maxed and Persuade him to keep me on as his mistress (if not the noble). The end of the game always says something like "to Queen Anora's discomfort" you stay in his life. SO I guess whether he marries the ambitious **** from the outset or later is that Canon? Hell I even saw it on my Noble's epilogue and was like WTF???

Err ... except it is NOT a storywise issue at all. It is a statement from Alistair !

He's actually just trying to let you down with a reason that makes as much sense as possible. I.e. avoiding to hurt your feelings as good as possible.

I dont think its weak at all. Alistair takes responsibility and he knows he stands no chance to get you accepted as queen.

Also, the fact that you know that he would accepted a noblewoman is metagaming. Your character doesnt know that !

My first playthrough was with a mage, and when I found out he dumps you after you crown him, I went back and didn't make him king, hahaha.

hehe I was a hnf on my first playthrough and *could* have been queen, but after reading that I was ticked on behalf of non-human-nobles everywhere and gave the crown to anora.     :)  Anora isn't exactly nice to elves either mind you, but she doesn't expect to sleep with me either, so she gets a small pass on that one.  For how many times i have gone through this game, I still have a lot of variations of ending to get yet!

Lol. I had that done to my female mage. I arranged for him to marry Anora as a political marriage. He dumps me since I didn't know you could harden him to keep you as his love bunny on the side.

I refused Morrigan and had him sacrifice himself to the Archdemon. Then the ending creds have him as king alongside Anora. ^^ Go figure.

Naahhh.

To properly roleplay a lady in this kind of situations, you have to dump him *before* he dumps you. Doesn't matter if he gets the crown or not or if your lady still loves him or not. You shall NOT be dumped.

Call it sixth sense or whatever females calls it... in this case, an earlier save.

So let me get this straight... you make Alistair king even though he says he doesn't want to be, he tries to do his duty as king (which you arranged for him), but he's the bad guy? You didn't notice the whole time playing the game that Fereldans keep mages locked up in a tower because they fear their power so much, but they'd be ok with having one as queen?

Alistair will marry a HNF only if she passes a Persuade check during the Landsmeet (where you are convincing not just Alistair but the nobles) and later on a check with him about the GW baby problem. As a Cousland, your family is 2nd in line to the throne. But there is no skill level of Coercion high enough to convince Fereldan nobles, who are already iffy on having a bastard half-commoner as king, to accept an elf or a mage as a queen alongside him. That would be a complete break of game lore.

My city elf was never in a relationship with Alistair (she has issues with male humans, go figure) and I was SHOCKED when he broke up with her after the Landsmeet in front of everyone.

She didn't get the rose, Zev didn't get jealous... No indication that the game was heading in that direction.

I haven't been able to decide if my girl was just really dense or if Al was just a wee bit delusional.
