I have everyone loyal and mostly upgraded, but i need more money to buy the actual research from the markets for certain items. I have a ton of minerals, and only a few upgrades left to buy to have all upgrades, but not sure how to get more credits. I already did all of the main missions, and have done all of the assignments besides the N7 missions. What can I do to get more credits?

Do the N7 missions. You'll get paid for them, and can grab a few free upgrades with them.

You could also do the pit fights on Tuchanka (sp?) with Urz once you give him some food.

Yeah, you can do the Tuchanka Varren pits. Just save before each gamble so you won't lose any money.

Varren pitfight is the only infinite source of cash.

Really, they should have let you sell off your resources to a mineral dealer or something.

Just so you know, I did every single mission including the N7,loyalty and basically hack/opened everything I could find. I think I missed like 2 or 3 but I had nowhere near enough money to buy all the upgrades. Needed 260,000 more.

The N7 missions don't give you all that much in terms of credits. I think you get 3500 from funding, and a total of 3500 for what you pick up per mission.

Did you import an ME1 save? I got a lot of credits from mine. I guess yours wasn't as high a level or something.

I miss the times in Mass Effect 1 when I had 99999999999999999 credits, and I could buy anything I want. Makes me wonder who stole all my money when I import my character from Mass Effect to Mass Effect 2. The only logical conclusion the council froze my accounts when they heard rumors I was working with Cerberus, or they use my money for the repairs of the Citadel after I die.

I don't think its possible to buy everything without the pitfight option.

I imported with the Rich achievement so I had the starting bonus.  The level bonus has nothing to do with credits, that only effects your starting level in ME2 I believe.  i.e. reached 50 and started at 4 in ME2.
Subsequently, I guess its not possible to get to 30 in one playthrough as well unless you import.  Given I got all the experience in the game and only made it to 28.   A level 60 import may have been able to but anything below, is definitely a no go.

Credits are Finite in ME2, you have to really cut and save, try not buy fuel and try using resources instead to fly around, and don't by things you don't need, like if you don't have biotic on your squad don't go and buy biotic mods, or weapon mods for weapons your team doesn't use. I used Tali and Legion, or Tali and Grunt, so I would never buy biotic stuff and amke sure you get discounts by talking to the people who own the store.

I actually wish I had known this before going in. I realized just before going and doing all the N7 Missions, but by that time, I had already spent my creds blindly.

I just wrongfully assumed it was going to be like ME1, where credits were simply abundant. At the very least, I was expecting there to be more then enough given you did all the missions.

yeah the fact that you can't sell the resources is just woefully stupid.

Together with the fact that a minimum fraction of the planets have actual missions on them, so there are not enough money sources. Unfortunately Bioware cut a lot of corners with ME2, and it shows in details like this.

I just had to reload a save from half an hour ago because I accidentally ran out of credits by buying fuel with all the missions before the IFF done, and didn't even have enough to bet. To let the player run in such a bottleneck is simply bad design.

That too. 7000 each if you pick up everything. As I said it's a nasty combination between cutting corners, bad balancing, and bad design.

of all the resources in the game you would think money would be the most plentiful

think about it you are being funded by cerberus you should be able to call TIM as say hey we are a little strapped for cash and we need a little more creds to purchase an upgrade so that we can you know save humanity and junk

and then TIM sees what you are buying is the latest issue of Fornax magazine and then it becomes awkward

Here is the secret, hidden in this post;

Don't ever buy gas.
Roam on your resources.

By the end, I had over 100k element zero, 400k the others.
It is very easy to sustain the entire game with zero fuel running on resources.

Only catch is that you must mine a lot, but on PC it's a non issue.

Sorry, but the fact that I have NOT to utilize the mechanic used by the game to explore, exploiting the one that should be a malus (using resources) for running out of fuel is still extremely bad design

This not to mention that having that many resources requires hours upon hours of midnlessly boring timesink scanning (which is horrible design in itself).

Okay then, don't save money.

Was just trying to help.
Otherwise, import a level 60 rich shep from ME1, with ME2 beaten once.

You start with like 300k, 100k ( I forget, but it's a lot) of each resource.

Otherwise, complain here.

Cheers,
