Nah, this is a legit question. I didn't start following the ME series until about 5 or 6 months ago so I'm curious as well.

It will be released late 2011 so probably some time around december this year, or a little before i'd suspect.

Maybe. We wont see anything that is for sure, but I doubt they'll have much to say besides its in development. IMDB will likely be a good source to track the game for a little while because you'll see voice actors getting recruited and the like.

E3 might be a bit too early but maybe on even later in the year. They'll probably spend this E3 on dlc.

I expect we'll hear news next year and the game will be out 2012.

I'm thinking 2012. I don't think we'll see any bit of it until E3 2011.

I think the first 'KIA' teaser came out in February of last year, so it was announced roughly a year before release. ME 3 is slated for a 2 year development cycle (or so they hope), so don't expect anything for at least a year.

There is no official info for it to be released in 2011, but that is what biaware is aiming for according to game websites, probably what they where told in interview's.

Of course 2011 could be december 2011, so that would be very close to 2 year's.

Well requests for ME2 were coming out the same day ME1 released

but for actual news? I guess about a year maybe a bit more?

"We're already working on 'Mass Effect 3' right now. We do want to develop it in concert with listening to the way people are experiencing 'Mass Effect 2'. We've got a lot of DLC coming out for 'Mass Effect 2' that we're also working on, and then we'll kind of blend that into developing and finishing 'Mass Effect 3'. We don't want to take forever with it. We want people to be able to conclude this trilogy that have been with us over the years... [Development will be] along the same kind of time frame as 'Mass Effect 2'."

From: http://multiplayerbl...-between-games/

So basically it will be similar to ME2. It might be a December 2011 release, or a January 2012 release. It all depends on how the development goes.

Its most likely the campaign expansion they say they will be having.

That's why I said "a year from now".

I'm not stupid, I'm not expecting a bunch of ME3 news right now. I'm just wondering how long until the first rumblings appear, because I want to follow ME3 from the beginning of its exposure to us (having joined the forums in December or November, joining the ME2 wait in progress). It'll be cool to piece together the facts like what we were doing in the days before ME2's release (and have arguments with everyone about what the facts implicate or don't implicate... good times...)

Mass Effect came out in November 2007. Part two obviously last week. So just over 2 years between games (26 months). Now I think it could be a shorter period between 2 and 3, because I don't expect them to overhaul the combat system again, but I think ~2 years is a safe bet. Somewhere between Holiday Season 2011 and Q1 2012 for release.

Probably about a year fro now before we et any news, and then it will probably be a teaser like the Shepard: Killed in action thing.

They will probably show off the campaign expansion at e3 this year, and ME3 at the 2011 E3. Not that far off til ME3 really. Plus, this two year "extensive" dlc plan will most likely ease the wait for most of us.

Probably announce it at E3, in June.

Doesn't mean that they'll actually have any information, though.

I hope they double up on the writing staff and work out a way to record more lines/compress them in a way that allows them to get more in. Short of that, they should just go to a straight Multi-Disc game instead of what they did with ME2. Even if they don't completely overhaul the combat system (the combat is mostly fine but we could use more weapon variety, the return of grenades, the return of equipment but with a manageable inventory system, and the return of exploration missions [I hope the Hammerhead DLC sells well for this reason]) there is certainly a lot we'd like to see and there is a LOT of potential (and loose ends to tie) in the story alone. Even if they make the focus personal interactions and try to insulate the conflicts of the whole galaxy within the crew of the Normandy and the effects it has on the universe, there better still be some majorly epic combat. Something along the scale of Dragon Age's last mission but in Space, on Ground, and with the ability to issue tactical orders. In other words, incorporating a limited 'out-of-sight' RTS system with the RPG/FPS system. I want to be able to control the actions of my ship and to get in firefights with enemies. Not all the time but I certainly want some limited control on my actions in combat. Think that if things like during the Collector Ship v. Normandy battle at the end of ME2 were semi-controlled by your decisions. Shepard telling Joker and the Normady crew what to do against an opponent. Man.. I don't know about anyone else, but I'd love to get control of just the Normandy to use in combat.

Naw I'm a bigger fan of just sitting back and watching. That scene was very well done.
