Being extremely phobic of spoilers (I haven't completed the game yet), I don't dare to read too much info about the upcoming expansion-pack. I'm therefore going to ask you about the only thing I want to know about it...

Does it add content to the original campaign, or does it add a completely new one that takes place after the original one? Or to put it this way: is the expansion-pack of any use to one who hasn't completed the original story?

It adds something completely new and takes place after the original, it does add spells and talents and such which may become available in the original not sure about that. The expansion pack will have a use to those who haven't finished the original (Grant it you must have the original) because there is sort of a default character you can use and it may bring some stuff back into Origins, again not positive on that.

Snape kills Trinity with Rosebud.

Seriously, though, all we know is that the plot decisions made by your character in Origins will affect Awakening, and that you don't need to have completed Origins to play it. You can start with a brand new high-level character (probably level 20) that will let you play Awakening without having to go through Origins each time you want to do so.
