Agreed! My first thoughts after the introduction were: WTF, each time I want to create a new Shepard, do I have to view everything?. Something should be done because it's really hard to imagine how your custom shepard is going to look outside the character creator.

While Bioware implements this (if it's implemented) there's a savegame editor made by Gibbed, it lets you change your face, export and import faces and it's really a time-saver. More important, you can unlock with the editor Kelly's hair and some other hairs that looks great,

here's a screenshot of my femshep with a non standard hair that looks awesome(100% spoiler free)

Hrmm.  Does that let you generate a valid face code after you modify your character like that on the PC?  If so, could I have the face code for your Shep, since I'm on the 360?

I also vote for a way to tweak your features without having to go through the intro, since I'm on the 360 & can't use any mods like the PC folks.

I have to say I've grown sick of the intro. It was epic the first few times, then went downhill from there. It's a massive pain to have to sit through again and again when I'm trying to figure out what class I'd like to play next. While I do have a face I usually stick with now being able to load right before the creator would be awesome (or of course a skip intro option).

Or if Bioware really wanted to make the creator more true to the game they could have a lighting slider that simulates various settings in the game because I've almost never seen the lighting match whats in the character screen or the armor customization screen. It was especially bad in ME1 and I had issues with it in DA:O. Being able to change the lighting, zoom out, rotate freely, change the camera angle would be awesome and make the CC much more friendly.

I'd LOVE for there to be a skip intro option. Omg, I had to play the intro about 20-30 times just tweaking things. PLEASE Bioware!

Agreed...infact I think I stated this in another thread, along with the solutions, a few weeks ago.

You wouldn't happen to have a link would you?. Anything that adds more evidence of individual players experiencing issues with the system would be appreciated :-)

Agreed, this is annoying. The new editor seems just as bad for determining what your Shepard will look like. Being able to get a full sidesway profile helps with some things, but it isn't very helpful that it _replaced_ fact the in-between glance-to-the-side position you could get in ME1. Ultimately, you still have to play through the game long enough to have a few conversations before you can really judge, and that means playing the whole intro again if you decide you need to go back to the editor.

Yeah, it's not like this only affects players who go really in-depth with face creation. Casual players might make a few little changes like hairstyle, then notice there's just one or two things they'd like to adjust after talking to Jacob in the first level. No option but to restart from scratch.

I completely agree, after having to sit through that normandy destruction scene about 18 times or more, it just gets really tedious, and boring.

Yea its just another example of the poorly thought out mess that is ME2. Don't get me wrong, the game is fun(lots of fun), but its just VERY poorly executed in TOO many places to make it a game worthy of the reviews its getting.

I feel like I should add to my previous post that I do appreciate the work that was put into face creation. The code system is a huge improvement. Being able to put in the code from my last state makes it so much easier to make those minor changes without messing around with all the other sliders just to get back to where I was. The problem is that this only saves time once you are able to actually get to the editor.

I agree, the code system is definitely a welcome improvement, it's just a pity that while adding that feature, the other obvious flaws which have been pointed out countless times by players over the last 2 years were ignored.

At least we now can change our Shepard's face everytime we start a new playthrough, which was not the case in ME1. But still, I wish we could change it after having saw it ingame!

AH but can you edit your ME2 New Game+ face without it reverting to the default, like it does when trying to tweak an ME1 imported face?. If not, that's bizzare, because obviously the sliders would be identical as it's an ME2-created face, unlike with faces created in ME1 where there are some differences.

Anyone? ^_^

I just tried, and the answer is no, you can't   You are forced to create a new Shepard from scratch. I agree, that's kind of bizarre...

Oh god yes.

I absolutely hate spending a bunch of time getting my face just right, only to notice one little thing that's wrong with it that will bug the hell out of me if I don't fix it.

I had assumed that the reason behind leaving out the option to tweak ME1 imported faces was due to differences between sliders, or some kind of extra hassle involved with coding. The inability to even edit your ME2 New Game+ face would seem to throw that out the window.

I suppose it's not so bad because you can input your ME2 face code and tweak from there, but ME1 faces aren't assigned a face code in the Squad screen. I'd be happy just being able to tweak my ME1 face, and I'm sure many players would too.

Honestly, as much as I love character creation in rpgs, I never liked the one in Mass Effect. And I was dissapointed in seeing how it was not improved on for ME2.

For a game like this, I think it would have been better off just making a group of male and female high-quality Shepards (equal to that of the default male) of various races, and let folks choose from those.

Character creation in ME2 is very very frustrating. A few days ago I created a new Shep from scratch, it took me a complete hour, but eventually I was satisfied with it.

Now I've just recruited Mordin, and realized that his nose and his eyes were totally ****ed up...

This is my second playthrough, and I deleted my first career, so if I want to keep my weapons and armor, I need to finish the game once again with that crappy face in order to be able to edit it. Really annoying. I don't think I will even enjoy this playthrough because of this.

Just another reason for something to be done. As others have suggested, the Med Bay upgrade could provide an option to adjust Shepard's appearance for those in the middle of a playthrough. While it may be unrealistic because players could then completely change their face, I think that's an acceptable trade-off in order to accommodate the majority who just want to make a few small tweaks.

I agree, I can't tell you how many hours have been spent "trying" to create the perfect looking shep. Oh and let girl sheps use the other hairstyles you made.

Patch 1.01 was released the other day for PC users, most likely going through approval at Microsoft now before it hits the 360. Let's hope that 1.02 introduces something simple like being able to skip cutscenes up to the Normandy, then skip all cutscenes between that and the face creator, OR as the title of this thread suggests, an autosave before character creation. Taking into account the types & number of fixes in the patch changelist, it really does not seem like those kind of things would be hard to implement at all.

Sign me up as well.

I am also on the 360, and it's really bugging the crap out of me to have to sit through the intro over and over again every time I wanna tweek my character or start a new game/NG+.

At least in ME1 you get to create your character before the long **** intro, this is like a step backwards. *rolls eye*
