So I've played through and beaten ME2 once before. Now, however, when I try to put in either disc, the Xbox 360 remains convinced it's empty. There's no dust in the 360 (compressed air), the discs are clean, new, and unscratched, and I'm boggled.

Ouch, that's bad dude. "Sometimes" people have played brand new releases and the console has not "liked" the game, maybe a corrupt burn or something, nobody is sure, but some titles have jacked peoples consoles up, try disconnecting your HDD and running a game or dvd. If it works maybe you'll be lucky and your HDD may need replacing or wipe.
Best of luck man

I did that, and it didn't work...until I ran, like, six games. For some reason, it started working again. I'm going to keep an eye on it but the issue seems solved for now.
