Ok so at the very beginning of the game I said dude I wish I could get Duncan's weapons they look awesome. Then RtO comes out and viola you can get his weapons. However, when I equpped them they look like a red steel sword and dagger. WTF?!? I tried every graphic setting to see if it changed but of course it didn't. I know this doesn't make a big impact on the story or game play. But if you pull out these wicked looking weapons in the beginning of the game and then give us a chance to use them shouldn't they look the same?
Btw I'm playing this on the PC. Is anyone else having this issue?
Dissapointed with loot from RtO ::spoiler::

They look different depending on what tier they are. If they're dragonbone, they'll be black. If they're silverite, they'll be white. Etc.

yeah but they just look like a regular sword and dagger, nothing special. I mean it's cool that I have his weapons I just expected them to look like his weapons.

His weapons didn't really look all that special to begin with. His longsword used the same mesh as Oathkeeper and his dagger was the same mesh as a regular iron dagger, although his looked like veridium in-game.

I'm more pissed that Cailan's gear is all red steel. Since my character was outfitted in dragonbone plate, I had no use for that or any of the loot from the dlc, which doesn't scale to you, unfortunately.

You can upgrade RTO items by going to the Warden's Keep (after you have finished it) and putting the items in the chest, then going to the camp and then back to the Keep chest. They should be upgraded now.

Place the items in the party chest at Soldier's Peak, then save. Reload again, and check the chest, the items tiers will level up along with your char, for instance, I too recieved Cailan's armor, Duncan's weapons, Nug Crusher, etc as Red Steel, however, after placing it in the chest, and reloading, it turned to Silverite. It may take a few times, but it's worth it. It's like the Warden Commander's armor, it goes all the way up to tier 7 (Dragonbone).

That doesn't work with the PC version, but if you sell the stuff to a merchant, then buy it back, it should be level-appropriate for you. That means after you reach level 18, melee weapons and armor should be dragonbone. It costs gold, but I guess that's the price we have to pay (literally)!

Has anyone gotten the armor or weapons to upgrade on the PC? I can't get it to work.

Yes I have, I sold both swords to Levi at Warden's Keep. But I was level 23 at the time and whether or not you get an upgrade depends on your level IIRC. So if you don't get it you might have to gain a couple of lvls first.

I will definitely have to save and then test this out. I hate doing quests and finding out that the equipment earned is crap compared to what my character is currently wearing.

If you have the pc version I would suggest downloading the Winter Forge mod, then you can upgrade the loot and make it look how you want.
