Ok, surfing the web, I've found a few lists which were... meh.  So many choices are so cliche (I'm looking at you FF7) and it seems there is no 'personal' feel to them.  So, I was thinking, "what are my favorite moments?" I've been gaming since the floppy disks on the 386 but games have evolved into an experience.  Here's what I came up with:
** Contains various game spoilers **

3.  F.E.A.R. - any scene with the creepy little girl appearing randomly
Speaking of a game experience.... This is not really a particular moment, but the game was so good at keeping you on the edge of your seat.  I played this game with a 5.1 headset in the dark.  I wasted so many bullets shooting my hallucinations.  This was a game I played for an hour at a time, maximum.  Don't think my heart could take much more than that.

2.  Max Payne 2 - the death of Mona Sax
This game had a good storytelling way about it.  Comic panels, are well, hax.  The game starts out with Mona getting shot with you (Max) while in a mansion.  Of course, you have no idea what's going on.  Then it flashes back and you play the game leading up to this point.  Mona gets shot, and dies in Max's arms and all the dialogue from the beginning finally makes sense.  I think my heart broke along with Max's at that point.  I don't think many games have ever made me that sad.  (Length of game contributed to sadness too, but hey...)

1.  KoTOR 1 - Discovering your identity

Now I'm a sucker for plot twists.  I don't try to guess before hand about what's going to happen in a story, but if you leave enough clues hanging around I will try to figure it out.  You spend the whole game following the steps of 2 Sith Lords, one of which is, implied quite heavily, dead.  You have flashbacks which help you along, strangely adept in the Force, and a strange bond with Bastila Shan.  Everything was carefully explained away, leading you pretty much right off the cliff.  In a masterful stroke,  the pieces finally fall into the place, it turns out everyone is lying to you and you are the Sith Lord presumed dead.  Flashbacks are memories, and the bond came when you were captured.  The game played like a movie.  Damn.

Whew, that was longer than I intended.  Anyone else feel like sharing their gaming moments?

3. baldurs gate 1: fighting the room with servok and his evil baddies which was extremley hard if you play on teh hardest like me, and then fidning your identity.

4. zork nemesis, finding out the nemesis is actually the son of the earth element and that the alchemists have all betrayed you, which you have just freed them all.

5. theif 2, just in general the game kicked ass and had many tense and fun moments that were a challenge.

Most memorable for me was doing all the Dark Brotherhood quests in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I've never felt so dangerous.

Then there was waiting for a Ladder reset on Diablo II this one time. After spending hours talking rubbish in the in-game #GBR-1 chat room, we decided to invade the #FR-1 chatroom, the French chat channel. It was an epic moment in my life...

Some gaming moments will stick with me forever. Careful, might be spoilers here:

First death of a sim in The Sims. My kid was playing and burst into tears and there was a big commotion. Reloading a saved game saved the day.

MoTB. Being told by Kelemvor that my PC had to say in his city and watch over his dreaded wall when my PC had sworn to bring down the wall. Never have I wanted to kill an NPC so much. Even thinking about Kelemvor makes me want to punch someone.

Silent Hill 2. First time seeing pyramid head. Freakiest antagonist ever.

Assassins Creed. Climbing and reaching the top of the massive cathedral in Acre. Lots of other sweet spots in that game for me.

Resident Evil 4, I went by the lake and stood on the docks to enjoy fishing with my guns. I did not see it coming, I never knew it would happen. The fish ate me. Random horse can kill you in that game. :(

Halo 3, I killed 50 players during an online match and lost. I did half the work, all the other players need to kill just about 12 players each and we would have won! ):(

Metal Gear 3, Climbing up that long ladder. That took forever, I taped my controller to move up so I could get something to eat.

Grand Theft Auto 4, I T-boned a car, got thrown out, and as my character walked away some car hit him hard enough to kill him.

Those are my 'Put Down the Controller' moments.

^ that was scarey as hell.

World of Warcraft: My first time in Molten core, I will never forget that, and i dont think i will ever top it. something about getting 40 people together to go fight giant stuff, was really epic.

FF3/6:when kefka poisined cyan's city's well, i almost cried.

Mario: the first time i ever beat the game, it was the first game i ever played, and the first i ever beat.

Haha, yes that guy is one of the most memorable moments for me as well. Oh how I laughed when I read his journal...

NWN2 - MotB: The moment my PC woke up in the tomb beneath Rashemen. Wonderfully done.
Also when my PC encountered Myrkul, former god of the dead... great atmosphere...

Mass Effect:  Gameplaying-wise the last part of the game, when my Infiltrator was at maximum level and
                       almost unstoppable. Awesome gameplay-feeling...
I also loved exploring the Citadel for the first time... watching the different races, enjoying the music..

Left 4 Dead: First time I encountered a tank in the greenhouse... when the screen started to rumble, and he
threw desks at my party and tore away doors.... woha, immense experience...

The Witcher: First boss-fight with the golem... enjoyed the thrill, the music, and the tactics...
The story of the midday-ghost and the midnight-ghost. Haunting, and sad, because I wasn't
entirely able to help both. :(

This was a random thing the AI did on Oblivion, but I stumbled across three Imperial Foresters all in a mexican stand off with each other. They all ended up killing each other. Best random moment ever.

Heh, something like that happened with me once in the Dark Brotherhood lair. One of the Khajit's was sneaking around murdering everyone they found. It was hilarious just watching it.

Fallout 3-Fighting a Deathclaw.

Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare-The ending sequence. I was not expecting what happened to my comrades.

Saints Row 2-The bits of one upmanship in The Brotherhood mission squence. It was crazy.

Left 4 Dead-Being the only one to get on the army plane in the Dead Air campaign on Expert. Like seriously my fellow players got picked off one by one. I had to limp to the plane after my friend sacraficed himself so the second Tank could die..

Resident Evil 5-Finding out who the "Bird Lady" is.

Call Of Duty: World At War-Attacking the Reichstag in the russian campaign then planting the russian flag on the roof.

The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess-The final boss fights and discovering Midna's true form.

The only game that has a place in my heart is...Planescape: Torment.

There are a lot of memorable moments, but one in particular will be when Nameless One confront the Transcendent One for the first time on the roof of the fortress. There was this short cinematic scene, where the Transcendent One showed up and said "SO YOU HAVE COME. THEN YOU SHALL DIE AGAIN!", that was the beginning of the dramatic finale, and one of the best ways a finale can be presented, in my opinion.

The messages it tries to deliver and the way they are being delivered, simply brilliant. I have to say that some of the ideals presented in the game inevitably gotten into myself, that is how a game...can change a person...NOW, that's a GOOD game, a memorable game indeed.

Grandia II - When Mareg sacrifices himself so your party can escape Valmar's Moon on the Granasaber, I have no shame when I say I cried, that game has such a moving and epic story to it, with characters you would find yourself actually caring deeply for...

Super Mario RPG - When Bowser is crying outside of Booster's tower about the loss of his keep and joins Mario 's party "letting" him join the Koopa Troop lol

SkiFree (old Windows 3.1 game from Microsoft) - The first time I got randomly eaten by the abominable snowman, it was so random and unexpected I was like WTF!!

Wolfenstein 3D - When I saw Adolf Hitler at the end of Episode 3 for the first time, RoboHitler with 4 chainguns, those were good times :)

GoldenEye 007 - Playing 4 player multiplayer for the first time, besides Doom I never played a multiplayer FPS back then, and was totally blown away. It set the standard for console FPS gameplay and the rest is history!!

Mass Effect - When Saren kills himself to stop Sovereign, I did not see that coming.

Baldurs Gate 2 - When I went to fight the Dragon to get the Holy Avenger and Edwin to one look at him said you expect me to fight a Wyrm, and left the party never to be seen again.

Uncharted 2 - The whole game from begining to end the best single player action game I have ever played. And there are to many amazing moments to list. :o

1. When i encountered my first dead hand in Zelda: Ocarina of Time. That thing still gives me the creeps

2. In Silent Hill 3, when you first enter the hospital there is this hallway where you hear this loud voice as if something is trying hard to catch breath, and the voice is getting closer and closer. Made me take a break of that game for awhile.

3. First encounter with a dragon in Baldurs Gate 2. The music in those encounters really gets you ready to give your all in the upcoming struggle to bring the beast down.

1. Silent Hill 1 - That damn cat in the locker >.

2. Steel Empire - When your base gets destroyed. The stage music and the night sky scenery are simply awesome.Watch here, 4:50

3. The opera sequence from Final Fantasy VI

4. Fatal Frame 3- The attic scene. Seriously, i could not sleep after that

5. Ace Combat Zero/ Belkan War - The last fight against Pixie. The only way to hit his plane is with a frontal attack. While most players say to lower your Plane's speed to make it easier, the talk between the 2 pilots, plus the flamenco background music made me go into a "berserk mode (in real life)" actually accelerating and engaging afterburner to fight with maximum fury.

Edit: Oh yeah! How could i forget? BAN TEAGAN'S DANCE! That got burned into my brain forever...

Ultima IV: the only game I've played that rewarded noncombat more than combat, and the only real end boss was overcoming my weaknesses. Still view it as a unique classic among games.

Diablo: first dozen or so encounters with the Butcher and a new character; always worried me.

Diablo: being chased around level 16 by Diablo because I was in a panic. Ah, fun times.

Diablo 2: fighting Diablo as a Bowazon for the very first time - talk about feeling weak.

FEAR: Alma in general, gotta love creepy little girls. Alma Interview - the mirror scene gets me every time

FEAR2: Learning Alma wanted my character's body - woah! At least sexy Alma was pleasing to the eye.

Oblivion: working for the Dark Brotherhood; despite the darkness of it all, I never laughed so much while working for a group. After that I was death to everyone not giving a quest.

Dragon Age: Hespith's chanting, with second place going to the chanting in Something Wicked.

Dreamfall: Zoe watching the final tapes at the end of the game. Always makes me cry.

That's all I can think of for now.
