Yeah, the Butcher in the first Diablo was definitely one of those "Oh CRAP!" moments! While I loved D2, they were never able to re-create that moment because you were expecting it.

Finishing Thunder Force V and Radiant Silvergun -- period. Those games were hellishly difficult. Just *seeing* the last levels with my own eyes was enough to wow me...

Aerith's death in FF7...

That scene before you face Irenicus at the Tree of Life in BG2. When you talk to your party members one last time. It felt very touching...

The scene in Jade Empire if you bring back the caretaker to bury the childrens' bones. It almost moved me to tears...

Almost all of Resident Evil. Most of all it's horribly cheesy dialogue and voice acting...

Discovering the truth of the Ankaran Sarcophagus during some of Bloodlines' possible endings...

Playing KoF '94 when it first came out and basking in the glorious novelty of having so many characters cross over into one fighting game...

Finding Carsomyr for the first time after defeating Firkraag. My first game of BG2 was with a paladin, and I hadn't expected such an insane weapon to drop so early on. Plus it had a nice and detailed history. It just felt special.


I can think of many many others, given time to consider it. As is stands the above are all rather random choices listed in no particular order of preference. There are way too many experiences I consider memorable to cite nearly all of them...

KOTOR - Malak revealing "You are Revan" almost made me fall off my chair.

World of Warcraft - the first time i stepped into Stormwind, with the statues of the former heroes, and that grand glorious music, it was an awe-inspiring moment for me, then venturing out into the whole of Azeroth, that was just a really massive place

the ending of NWN 2 - listed here because of just how horrible it was, first time i actually wanted to throw my PC monitor out the window in rage, all that build up, and what do you get? a crappy slideshow ending

Civilization, The Sims, Sim City - as someone already posted, you look at the clock and realize that it's no longer Tuesday, never have any 3 games made me lose track of time so much

Street Fighter 3 (for the SNES) - when i finished the game for the first time

The Ocean House Hotel in VTM: BL. It was sooo scary. O_O

FFX - when yuna and tidus kissed, when I got owned by dark bahamut (I'm not bad at the game, it's just hes strong and I hadn't trained my characters enough at all), When I got Shiva... Sexy ice godess like Aeon-summon. When Tidus met his father. When I first met Wakka. When Rikku first appeared. When I killed Seymour for the final time. And the first time I saw Seymour's hair. lol^

Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 - everything that had Riku, org XII and Xeanhort in it.

There's way more. But if I was to write them all I'd write for a few hours... No jk.

FEAR - not any particular moment, but as a whole experience it is amazing. I still haven't played it through a second time since 2005, even though I would like to - it is a very stressing game. Playing alone in the night with a 5.1 setup... very creepy. I was actually deprived of sleep until I finished it, credits rolled on 6:00 in the morning after three night of playing on the highest difficulty...



Mass Effect - great as a whole, but the first opening hour and the last one are simply incredible. It really reminded me of TESB in the great days before the Star Wars prequels...



X-Wing:Alliance - had several excellent moments that I still remember, even though I've last played it ten years ago.



Monkey Island series - well, shiver me timber and call me a pirate!



And Dragon Age, of course, but I don't want to spoil anything. Maybe I'm missing something, but I really haven't played that many games in recent years...

Final Fantasy VI- The opera, General Leo's death, Rachel's final words to Locke, Cyan's flashback, Cid's death (if you don't get the right fish), and on a happier note: Figaro castle diving, Sabin suplexing the phantom train, and Edgar's line "you see, there're more girls here then grains of sand out there. I can't keep track of 'em all!"
