Oblivion (I know its set in another world but what the hell) 300 years back.
No One Lives Forever series 40 years back.
Dragon Age still using bow & arrows, swords, shield and etc, 300 years back in a different world like Oblivion. Maybe
Cod4 Modern Warfare bloody good game yes
Cod6 which is Modern Warfare2 crap game yes*
Half Life2 yes
Fear/2 yes.
Need for Speed yes. The things I do in Need For Speed that I cannot do in real life.
That is most the game I have said for one. Note the star. Instead I brought Dragon Age. That is how I discover Mass Effect2. If there is a Mass Effect2 there should be Mass Effect1 which I could not get a hard copy, so I digitally downloaded that game and I enjoy playing it.

maybe he's just not that into sci fi stuff. it happens, who are you to judge what he likes/prefers?
Because he is limiting himself to the plethora of fantastic games because of time period. Time Period! That epitomizes shallow and close-minded.
That is like me hating a person because they aren't wearing yellow.

That sadly wouldn't be the first time I heard of such a thing.
Still: maybe he doesn't like the fantasy/sci-fi genre as a whole? It could be that he finds it more unrealistic than usual and can't force himself to play it.

Doubt so. He won't even play killzone 2 on his ps3 because of the setting.
But...it's a suburban backyard...with lawn mowers...HOW CAN HE OBJECT?! Okay, back to being serious: I guess there's not much except GTA then?

Of the timeline.... And i go "wtf"? Apparantly he doesn't want to play one of the most epic games ever simply because the game isn't set in modern times.
So i told him off whats the point of playing games in modern time setting when you can friggin step out your door!!
He only seems to be interested in games like GTA it seems where it is all set in an american city.
Some people really get hung up on genre. I have a few friends who don't like playing games in fantasy settings, or that just have strong preferences for guns over swords. To each their own I guess, but I prefer a little of everything.

It happens. Some people don't like sci-fi (or insert genre) at all (be it games, literature, or film).

So no offense, but WTF does this dude play? GTA and maybe some sports games, except for hockey and soccer cause those take place in Canada and Europe sometimes?!
Never heard of it, may check it out. Thanks.Ryuuichi009 wrote...
You should at least introduce him to
the Persona games. They're set in modern day Japan and are amazing.
He hated saints row 2 honestly and so did i.The-Broken-One wrote...
get him a copy os saints row 2
then or crackdown since both are set in modern american type
cities(though crackdown does feature super powered cops so he may not
like that) oh then again im not sure either is out for ps3 so
nvm...seriously the idiot has the wrong console if he's that narrow
minded
Very very questionable and irrational. He didn't even want to playForest03 wrote...
So he'd rather play a criminal in an
extremely morally debased game series than play a badass hero/heroine
in one of the most incredible, most brilliantly designed games ever? It
would be fine if he were simply uninterested in in Sci-Fi story lines.
However, not only is he missing out as a gamer (and I use that term
loosely), but his taste in games is obviously questionable.
uncharted 2 because it didn't have a city setting.
The thing is hes asking me to build him a gaming pc, i want to ask him "whats the point if you are not going to play the majority of games out there because of the stupid setting and timeline? Most games shift out of the modern setting because it is getting so repetitive and boring, you want a modern setting just go out of your house".

He won't play, well, almost everything, and he wants a gaming rig?!?!?! I know: tell him you'll build one, only give it to me. Then you can give him a cardboard box with a keyboard drawn in crayon. He won't know the difference! *smack self* Sorry, sometimes I just can't control my sarcasm. Really though, wouldn't he be happier with a console? Well, now that I think of it: SimCity involves cities...probably not his cup of tea either I imagine.

being so short sighted. Most games don't take place in the current
timeline, infact alot of developers are using their imagination(space,
fantasy etc etc) and shifting out of the horrible WWII and modern
setting.
