I tried to find the search tool in order to find anybody else with this issue, but have had no luck.

The problem I've been having is this: Whenever I go to the weapon select screen to kit out myself or other squad members, the game will crash either upon the selection of a character or weapon type. Several websites I've read suggested removing the DLC from the game folder - doing this did not resolve the issue for me. Other websites suggested changing the Core Affinity briefly would fix it, but I experienced no change doing this either.

This issue occurs no matter what area I change my weapon at, and seems to be unpredictable at times. If the game crashes when trying to change weapons when going into a mission, it will continuously crash on the exact same screen whenever you start the game back up (e.g. trying to access Shepard's  weapon menu when going into an N7 mission will cause the game to crash. Restarting Mass Effect 2 and loading the game back up and trying to access Shepard's weapon loadout will still crash the game.)

However, if you skip the weapon screen and go back to the Normandy later to try accessing Shepard's weapon screen, it may not crash there. But it might crash when trying to change an Assault Rifle for Garrus.

The crashes ONLY occur when accessing the weapon menu, but they can occur at different points in the weapon menu. The game has no other issues running otherwise.

I'm playing a Physical Disc copy of Mass Effect 2, v1.00.

Go to the NVidia Control panel and under Program Settings click add. Find the ME2 executable and select it. Click the "multi-display/mixed-GPU" option and select "Compatibility Performance Mode". That should fix your issue.

Just gave this a try, I'm still getting crashes when going into the weapon loadout screen.

EDIT: Just did an experiment. I was crashing the moment I went to the Weapon Loadout screen when going to the Hahne Kedar facility. Attempting to take Tali and Miranda as squad members caused a crash. However, taking Tali and Zaeed did not.

EDIT2: And restarting the mission to take Tali and Miranda again would still cause crashing on the weapon loadout screen.

EDIT3: Taking Zaeed and Miranda also worked fine.

I am having the same problem. Has anyone found a solution yet?

I notice that all three of us use  logitech g35 headsets. Maybe the problem lies with the software for the headsets?

I have the same issue. Been ignoring it whilst I was just getting started, but now that I'm starting to enjoy myself it's becoming a real problem. Similar set up to some others, Windows 7 64bit, Nvidia graphics - and again a Logitech headset, though I'm not sure which one. It came with a webcam that I have installed on another PC.

Will try and update drivers and see what happens.

Same with me, 7 x64, 5770 crossfire, qx6700, and using on board sound. I had no trouble before I installed the DLC with zaeed, cerburus armor, ligthning gun, and Normandy crash site DLC. The problem clearly is with one of them.

Updated CCC to 10.6 and it's all working now. I'm thinking thats all it took to fix but I had also deleted the DLC and reinstalled running as admin in 7 so that may have helped as well.

I'm still having this issue. I'm running Windows Vista, 32-bit version. I usually experience quite a bit of lag as well. After updating my GPU drivers (9800 GT) I was able to play the game with zero lag and no weapons select issue, but after I loaded the game up the next time all of my problems returned...

I'm having the same problem to. The sound gets stuck in a loop when it crashes and the only way to stop the sound is to reboot. I wonder if it my Asus Xonar sound card?

No it isn't, it must be something else.
I think it is the DLC

I'm also having similar issue's with the weapon loadouts, but with me, I think it has something to do with the Firepower Pack DLC, the reason I believe it's the Firepower Pack, because I did some experiments, and every time I try to change weapon in weapon loadouts, it would freeze up on john Shepperd and crash with everyone else after I installed Firepower Pack DLC.

so, can some one help me out here?

Same issue here.

The game always crashes when I try to change Shepard's weapon loadout. With other party members the game sometimes freezes, sometimes not.

I have the digital delux version bought throught EA Store site. No changes, only installed DLCs and the patch.

Creatibe SB Audigy / 5.12.1.2016 driver version

Windows 7 x64 Ultimate (6.1.7600)

How many of you have tried a clean boot to see if anything is interfering with Directx?

Also having this issue...

For me it crashes every time I try to change Shepperd's loadout.
I can monkey with all squad members gear without issue, but when I select shepperd's it crashes.

It happened a few times on previous play-throughs and it seemed it only did it when starting a mission. I could simply wait to change Shep's loadout in the armory or at a 'weapon's crate' type deal in a mission.

I just played through ME1 and imported my character to ME2 and now I can't change Shepperd's loadout at all, it crashes every time. I can still change all other squad members without issue.

As for ....

Small update to my previous post:

After several missions the crashes dissapeared. Then appeared again. It seems some weapon upgrades or game progress or smth else is influenting the crash.

Strange ...

I've tried many things and still can't get it to stop crashing when I try to change Shepperd's loadout.

But...

I went back and loaded up several other 'careers' and tried several saves from my other characters and all of them allowed me into Shepperd's loadout with no problems.

It seems the only one I crash (every time) when accessing Shep's loadout screen is on my newly imported ME1 character.

My other characters are ME2 originals, one of which is an import ME2 (second playthrough).

They are also further along in the saves I had to try (near end of game).

Going to try creating a new ME2 character and see if they have the same loadout crash problem.

I'm thinking it may be related to the character being an import from ME1, or it may have to do with being early in the game.

Maybe the DLC weapons are trying to use a base weapon type that hasn't been unlocked yet or something.

After running through my other characters and saves it seems that I only have the problem on my new characters.
One I just started to test.
One a new imported ME1 character.

Seeing as how the problem does not exist with my characters that are towards the end of the game, but crashes every time when I try to change Shep's loadout on new toons (both ME1 imports and ME2 originals) my best guess is that DLC weapons are trying to use a base weapon type that is not unlocked yet and causing a conflict.

Has anyone had the problem, then had it go away at a certain point? Perhaps when aquiring a new weapon?

I don't use DLC weapon (but have it).

I have Geth pulse rifle, Viper sniper rifle and Freeze Gun.

But I've already got anti-material sniper and Cain Nuke Launcher and want to use them.

It seems that the only way is to modify game saves. :(

Got the same issue, At first i thought it was my machine causing the issue (having just installed GTX 460 and a second monitor) but after playing around for about an hour or so, it's clear that this crash only happens when I attempt to change shepard's load-out.

Don't suppose anyone has come up with a fix yet?
