disable-ling ASUS software "WILL NOT WORK"/solve your problem, I tried it it and ME2 still won't work, we need a new game patch, NO MATTER WHAT!

I am with FortKavanagh. I have tried disabling the ASUS software, but the problem persists. This is very frustrating!

Having a similar issue with my Digital Download version (From DA2).

Going to try uninstalling all ASUS software, but it's odd if that is causing the problem, seeing how it doesn't cause an issue in DAO or DA2 (As well as being fine in a host of other games include SC2, Crysis 2, etc.).

Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
CPU: i7 920 @ 2.66 GHz
RAM: 6 GB/1300
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 5870 (ME2 Config cannot see my driver version. Catalyst reports it as... Catalyst Isn't opening. I will reinstall my Graphics Driver as well.)
Audio: Intel ICH10 Adapter on an Analog Devices AD2000B (Soundmax) (Driver version: 6.10.2.6520)
DirectX: DirectX 9.0c and DirectX 11. (ME2 Config reports 10 or later).

And Uninstalling, re installing Graphics drivers, and setting it to think it's an XP program worked. I'm not sure exactly what did it, since I decided to hit everything at once.

In my case, UltraMon was the reason for many crashes...

if u use win 7 just do this
locate the following file Start menu > Computer > C:
drive > Program files x86 > Electronic arts > Mass Effect 2 >Binaries >MassEffect2.exe
1. Right click the executable and click the Properties option.
2. Select the Compatibility tab.
3. Select the Run This Program in Compatibility Mode option.
4. From the drop-down list, choose Windows Xp service pack 2
5. In the settings check the "Disable visual themes" and "Disable desktop composition"
6. And in the Privilege Level click to Run as Administrator, then click ok

Don't pretend to be so silly as that. No more patching to ME-2 is ever going to happen, and you obviously do not have much interest in a fix, or you wouldn't merely add a "me too" that has no chance of getting any assistance from anywhere.

"They" dont need to fix anything, as iy has been shown to be caused by third party software, and not the game.
Run your system in clean boot mode, uninstall any Asus software, Nero Smartstart, and anything else that is unneccessarily running in the background. If that does work, post a full error report, instead of a "me too" post.

Or you can go and deal with EA support.

I'm on Win7 64bit, Asus GTX580 DCii with the latest Nvidia drivers. Uninstalling Asus GamerOSD and SmartDoctor did the trick for me.

Verifying what has worked for others worked for me as well. Unistalling ASUS SmartDoctor and ASUS Gamer OSD fixed the weapon loadout crash. I also noticed all loading screens in both ME2 and ME3 run smoothly for me now, it used to be really laggy when I had those programs installed.

Same here! Same damn problem at weapon changing. Removed those programs. No problems anymore AND the game runs much more smoothly!
Thank you guys :)

I guess that those programs also caused the lags in ME1 for me.
