I though this was pretty much a given, hopefully I'm not being absent from every kind of relationship in my main walkthrough to have her making a new cameo yet in ME3

Selling or giving my body to Cerberus is a crime for any paragon.

I have this conspiracy theory... BioWare actually wants to dump characters like Liara, so they don't give them their full attention. ;)

Well the other option was allowing your body to be given to the collectors. Who knows what the hell they would have done with it. I think Liara made the right decision IMO. If anything it shows she would do anything to keep you alive.

I don't think that is the real issue here. She is your LI and there is no way to confront her with her deciion properly. I wish there was a some cool renegade option which I could use to dump her and that also prevents her mission. I certainly don't want her back in Me3. She went too far. Well... For pixels on my screen anyway. ;)

We don't even know if the possible "Liara DLC" even has Liara all that much in it.

Perhaps she just sends us on some task? Certainly I don't think she'll be added in as even a temporary squaddie.

Worst case scenario is a bit of "neutralized" dialogue (ie. same for LI and non-LI Shepards) and then carting us off to do her dirty work on some dingy planet. At the end, we get another lukewarm kiss (the non-LI Sheps miss out on that) and a "see you in ME3".

Yes, possibly. In that case, as said before, we should all refuse to buy the DLC. Even if that could be used as "prove" that no one cares about Liara anymore. But apparently the developers listened to people screaming about Tali, so why not at least voice our opinion now too.

You would have prefered to have been given to the Collectors and turned into paste before being funneled through a tube into a giant robot?  That would have been a really short ME2 for you.

The Tali fans might be happy now, but the devs removed her character shields when they put her in the ME2 squad. I think it was the ME2 writer of Tali himself who alluded to that fact on the old boards, something like "Yeah, we put her in the squad. In the SUICIDE squad. Think about that and what it means for a moment." Everyone took it as a joke then, but...

We should therefore be careful with our wishes. They may give us a Liara DLC, but it might end up being another foul up, and reduce her role in ME3 (since the fans have now been thrown their due bone). Give her a role in ME3, and make it huge, is what I'd like.

Bah, I just don't have a lot of trust for the devs in this issue after having seen how the ME1 LI cameos turned out. A difficult time for the relationship? Sure, but why not go all out then? Make it a real character moment, allow them to get really mad at each other (would be fun for the VAs too, I bet). Have Ash and Kaidan storm off in real rage, instead of the half assed way it was done. Give us the possibility to get really mad at Liara for her nonchalance and perceived coldness, and the possibility to regret it and make amends later as we learn of her difficult situation. Why wasn't more done with this "difficult time" in our ME1 romance?

The alternative is viable and simple. Trying to give away or sell my character's body deservers a renegade option: No matter the reasons you have gone too far and this will end our relation.

Honestly, they just need to give her a bigger role in ME3. If DLC prevents that, then just drop DLC completely. A couple boring lines of dialogue and a mini mission aren't going to cut it this time, Bioware.

The one thing the devs don't account for is the fact that Liara has a much higher mainstream appeal. Tali is a more confined romanic interest as it is directed at a specific group of dedicated Bioware players. I guarentee for every vocal Tali lover in the forums, there are 25 mainstream players who picked Liara in the first and Miranda in the second as they are more mainstream.

This is a double-edged sword, though.  Look at the huge mess Liara's "hidden" cutscene has caused.  The forum has been flooded with people who missed it, and became outraged at the (perceived) changes made to her character.  At least those players were invested enough to register their game, log into the forum, and interact with other fans.

Out of those 25 mainstream players you mentioned, how many will ever  discuss the game online?  Probably not too many.  They'll miss Liara's breakdown scene, and they'll leave Illium feeling frustrated and disappointed.  They'll then fall into the open arms of Tali, Miranda, or Jack, never knowing how much Liara still cared for them.

Casey's comment about being able to track how many people cheat really scares me, especially when they've made it so difficult for most fans to find reasons to stay faithful.

Wait, did I miss something? What hidden cut scene? Are you talking about making the right choices in the three dialogue exchanges Shep and Liara have or is there something else?

No, I'm just talking about the scene where Liara breaks down and admits everything she did, and why she did it.  As I'm sure you know, you only get the full scene if you complete both of her tasks, pick the right Observer suspect, then make 2 correct one-chance dialogue wheel choices.  It's not technically "hidden" but they made it as hard to find as they possibly could.

No, he is alluding to the fact that the last interrogation option that opens Liara to reveal the truth about what happened is very easy to miss. The thing is the main stream people who didn't choose that dialog missed out on this.

That is why this thread must survive. Keep posting Liara fans.

I believe Liara will have a huge role in ME3 and she really is a big player in and around ME2 as she is the reason we even can play as Sheperd. She rescued him.....boy is that ripe for a steamier follow up reunion, I can't wait!

I don't see how they could even consider it cheating at this point.  There is zero affirmation that a romance even occured in ME1.  Zero.  It will be kinda self serving when they come back with some sort of "data" and say "see we did the right thing removing the ME1 cast, people love the new ones" when that isn't the case at all.

I'm curious as to how they can tell cheating from just finishing a romance--- What's to tell if we had an ME1 LI?

Yeah, sorry about that.  I didn't mean to get your hopes up.

But speaking of hidden scenes, there is still that mystery footage of Ashley that hit the old forum back in December.  It was seen playing on a monitor in the background of a news report, covering some kind of Mass Effect event.  You could see Shepard, standing in a darkened room, talking to what appeared to be a hologram of Ashley.  This footage hasn't showed up in-game, that I know of.  Maybe there's some kind of super-special extra scene if you complete 100% of the game on Insanity, or something like that.  It's a mystery........

Yeah I am soooo tempted to adopt your sig, but I must remain loyal to my group and they love the other characters equally so I will keep my sig, but I like yours Image IPB I'm a Liara fan only too, but I did like Ashley for the record.

But, I'm happy as long as she will be a squadmate in ME3.
