Do people prefer the original, sweet and innocent flavor of Liara, or are you interested in the sequel’s, dark and edgier flavor of Liara?

I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. I'd prefer a Liara who's original sweetness is still there but developed by the hardship of her life. In other words, both.

Besides as some people said before, her dark edgier behaviour seen when you meet her is just like a wall (like just for show). But beyond that wall shes the Liara we know off in ME1. Anyhow as long as she is in ME3 is all that matters to me.

Has to be. We know the SB talked directly to the "collector leader" in the comics, but did he think he was just talking to the leader or did he know he was talking to Harbinger itself? It may be possible the SB is letting Liara live now just for the sake of getting to Shepard through her.

Its interesting though because the SB already had Shepard, and planned on giving him to the Collectors. However, Liara intervened and was able to get Shepard from the SB and to Cerebus. So obviously Liara has some kind of relationship with SB that is allowing her to do business with him and enabling her to stay alive. Its amazing how very subtle this was in ME2.

Anyone else preorder it through that Things From Another World place? I did and I felt like a total dweeb. I'm pretty excited about it. I read the preview for it and it seems like it's going to be another interesting chapter in the Life and Times of Liara T'Soni.

I think it should be all members that survived ME2 + you LI of ME1 (reguardless if your still with them or not)

as party members.

I don't think that would work. Too many variables. Too many people who are going to be importing the saves with the people they killed off for the lulz.

Most, if not all, of the ME2 cast will either be axed or cameoed. I'm betting Liara + Original Alliance soldier will be back for the third game, though.

I have it preordered through my local comic book store. And yes I do feel like a total dweeb for doing so lol. Still Liara is my favorite ME character and I want to know all her story.

yeah it's be to hard to copy cuz a lot of that has conflicting parts. i think Liara part is gonna be huge. and the ashley/kaiden story kinda left off like they'll cover more later so im stoked cuz all i really want to see is the new badass liara back in action

Liara's character was ruined in ME2. Her new ego is very unlike her old one. That mission was a bit "crappy" too and felt like an introduction to ME2 for kids.

I cannot understand that there wasn't an option to break up with her and to refuse the mission. Of course you will be able to simply not do it, but that's not the same. You get that mission anyway. In one part of it I was able to be angry and in the last part of the dialog everything is forgotten? What an awful story telling.

Selling or giving my body to Cerberus is a crime for any paragon.

I have this conspiracy theory... BioWare actually wants to dump characters like Liara, so they don't give them their full attention. ;)

personally i think liara was good in ME1.. bad in ME2. same with ash.

They should have givin the LI's abit more attention and givin them more of a role.

atm tho. i think the crew members of ME2 are the best. they are so much better in personality and backstory then ME1 characters (aside from garrus n tali they are just kool in both)

it'd be better if they just kept this crew. coz the only characters in it that would have a reason to leave (providing they live..which should be assumed :P) is thane n zaeed.

and thane may die of sickness but maybe bring in his son? :P

and well no1 likes zaeed so no loss there

the rest of the crew would probably stay even jack as she has a genuine likeness towards you by the end. and samara says she would come back for shep. so..

even tho this has nothing to do with the thread lol

Hi, my name's fallen311, and i whole-heartedly support this thread. It would be a serious shame not to be able to continue the relationships that you worked on in the first game. That's a huge part of the reason i was looking forward to the second game. It was really disappointing to find out i couldn't have her on my squad.

I know that it would be hard to have every character up to this point as it is a lot of characters, unless of course, either there was going to be really epic battles in the final game(I sure hope so), or they aren't adding more characters in the the last game(unlikely).

All I know is that there is nobody for my shepard other than Liara, and i have no plan to fall to the Tali side.

C'mon Bioware, you have to give us Liara back. It's just not the same without her in your squad.

Well the other option was allowing your body to be given to the collectors. Who knows what the hell they would have done with it. I think Liara made the right decision IMO. If anything it shows she would do anything to keep you alive.

Liara is a wonderfully complex character who should have a prominent roll in ME3. It is a shame so many people missed her dialog option in ME2, where you get to see her vulnerability and now no longer like her. I welcomed the change though was first puzzled by it but once you get her back story it makes sense.

Her love/unrequited love for Shepard is the best part. It doesn't matter whether she was Shepards love interest or not. She still saves Shepard none the less. Where was Tali? Wrex? Ashley? Kaiden? Garrus? They were all perusing their personal goals. It was Liara who didn't give up on Shepard in the same way Shepard never gives up against overwhelming odds. They compliment each other as lovers or friends and this enriches the plot. She wasn't even a prominent character in ME2 yet forums on several sites abound with threads about the small part she had. That's powerful.

ME3 needs Liara and the complexity her character would bring to the plot.

Exactly! Even if Liara wasn't your LI, she went above and beyond to save Shepard. You put it excellently :)

Yes, please add Liara in ME3. There is so much about her that we don't know yet, and she's so powerful, so I don't see why she wouldn't be in the third game. It's a must! :)

Thank ye!  Once I learned what she did I loved her character even more.  Finally, a character did the type of favor for Shepard that Shepard continuously does for them!

Let's put it this way, I think Liara is just as interesting as Shepard.  I would pay good money for any game or expansion that includes her.

Except for the fact that Liara is the focus of the comic. I think that with the comic being focused on her, what's she's doing in ME2 and that she is the only original squad member who is alive no matter what  you do, Bioware is actually setting her up to be very important to ME3 and maybe a secondary hero to the trilogy. She has more impact on the series so far than any other character. You can't beat Saren without her (because you can't get to Ilos without her) and you wouldn't be alive in ME2 without her. That's not how you treat a character you are getting trying to get rid. She's not in ME2 because she's a LI from ME1 and Bioware has said many times that they want the LI's from ME1 to be around for ME3 so they made them unavailable to help you on the suicide mission.

I don't think Liara's personality has changed either. She's still the same Liara under that act she's putting on. She's in a bad spot. She'd managed to make one of the most powerful people in the galaxy mad, she's living on a planet surrounded by people she doesn't trust and she's afraid she may have lost her only friend/lover because she could not let go and turned their body over to the enemy. Now how Shepard reacts to it all is totally up the to the player. My Shepard's are all (with the exception of one that romanced Ashley) in love with Liara and they all understand. In fact my Shepard's find the lengths she went to so I could come back to life romantic. Plus they'd rather be alive and cooperating with Cerberus that be a part of that Reaper the Collector's were building.

I 'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that even if she wasn't Shepard's LI in ME1 that Liara is in love with Shepard anyway.  And I completely agree that Liara is the only one who doesn't give up on Shepard. All the other squad members go their own way and get on with their lives (though Ash/Kaidan not as much as the others if they were Shepard's LI) but Liara goes way above and beyond the call of duty for a chance that Shepard might come back.

It really does feel like BioWare is "saving" her for something big. Tali could end up dead, exiled, or refuse to even talk to you depending on the choices you make. Personally, I think her so easily casting Shepard out like that (for trying to protect her of all things) shows something. Also, Ashley/kaiden supposedly breaks up with you (although there is the email at the end). Kelly isn't a real romance, and could be dead. Miranda.. well I don't know how that one is going to play out, but she could be dead. Liara is set up the best imo.

Wasn't overly attracted to Liara during ME1, compared to Ashley.

Gotta say, the new and improved renegade Liara seemed at least three times as hot to me.
