Liara as a squadmate in ME 3

Ashely/Kaiden's reasons are just incomprehensibly bad. They should have made them incapacitated/seriously injured by the Collectors so they literally couldn't come along. Again, a pretty simple solution.

Now, if she was Shepard's lover I think it makes sense for her character to really hold on to the hope that they could be together again. She is shown to love Shepard deeply, and is extremely loyal. 2 years is not long for an Asari. And if Shepard tells her she did the right thing in resurrecting him/her, then I would think Liara should begin to believe "Wow, maybe we CAN actually be together again. Maybe I can let go of this guilt and fear...." That doesn't mean she would immediately be able to let go of what she's doing, but that inner conflict would be great to explore.

And the human love interests have no good reason not to come. Yeah, they hate Cerberus, but they also just saw big scary aliens wipe out a colony without any trouble. It's not very believable they wouldn't trust Shepard enough to at least do some research and see that, oh wait, these Collectors ARE actually trying to wipe out the human race.
Exactly! People claim Liara's reasons were fabricated, how more abstract can Ash/Kaiden's reasons be? They just got attacked by Collectors, saw them first hand, and survived thanks to Shepard. But no. They don't believe its a threat at all. I was like... really? Thanks guys. At least I got the impression Liara was really doing something and needed to focus on it. She was having heated business meetings, being spied on, and dealing with the Shadow Broker. I'll let her pass on my suicidal mission this time. Especially after I found out she saved me.
Ash/Kaidan's responses to Shepard I can see, seeing as Cerbus is labeled as a terrorist organization, it's a logical response. They are also currently serving in the Alliance Navy which is why they are unable to join Shepard. Did the writers approach this awkwardly? Definitely.
Now to Liara:
I was rather disappointed by Liara in ME2, Ash/Kaidan show some interest in Shepard romantically. Liara, not so much. Besides a kiss when you first see her again, all she ever talks about is the Shadow Broker. She's to obsessed with the Shadow Broker to deal with anything else. I was hoping there would be a conversation option "Liara stop being an idiot!, your obsession is going to get you killed!"(which it nearly does, depending on how you finish her quests). Either way I have a feeling that she is going to get herself killed in a DLC, expansion, or ME3.

I think reading the comic is alot more rewarding if she was your love interest in the original game. You get the feeling of such a special bond between her and Shepard that way. Makes me love Liara even more.
Eagerly awaiting issues 3&4. After that, I hope theres some Liara DLC on the way. I think I might go into Liara withdrawal otherwise!

Does he react to them, or is it just like with Liara and the old shipmates get ignored?

Kaidan does note Garrus' presence incredulously on Horizon. One of the things why no one noticing Liara or the Liara / Shepard romance is so aggravating: the Ash/Shepard and Kaidan/Shepard romances were commented on... As were Ash and Kaidan in general.

I haven't done Horizon with my good old friend Garrus yet (the only Turian My Shep trusts giving hes back to) something for my next playthrough

It isn't much, but the devs made the effort there to show that these two actually knew each other from before.
A ME2 noob would have no idea Garrus, Tali, or Joker ever met Liara before.

I bet lots of new players of the ME universe will try ME1, and imo importing a lvl 60 char into ME2 is very rewarding, made me also more careful in my decision making for ME3.

My Shepard remained loyal to her, so she must appear as a LI in ME3, please.
