Excellent angle to develop in game right there, more Liara yes please...Maria Caliban wrote...
Do people prefer the original, sweet and innocent flavor of Liara, or are you interested in the sequel’s, dark and edgier flavor of Liara?

Yes, which is why I said Shepard/Liara is the only romance where they could realistically SHOW a child. DudeShep + pregnant Ash or Pregnant FemShep + Kaiden/Jacob could all be shown, but you wouldn't actually see a baby as there are too many variables with the child's appearance and ethnicity.
which adds to the fear of BioWare adding no children, but I hope they don't try to please everyone equally. I hope they just give something special to each LI relationship.

For example, if you cheated on Liara in 2 but reconciled in 3, it ends with Shepard and Liara merely holding hands or kissing. If, however, you've been faithful to her since ME1, then maybe we'll get a special and emotional epilogue in which you see Liara and Shepard marry at the end, and/or perhaps Liara will have pregnancy bump. It'll be amazingly emotional and sweet if it were like that, IMO.
I would love this, this makes for a great final. That would make an appropriate and rewarding conclusion to their story. Sadly they both can't have babies, the Asari inter species mating doesn't seem to work in reverse, so my fem Shep would probably be the only female human throughout the whole galaxy who is the FATHER of a baby.
But i truly hope they implement the option of marrying your LI (no idea if marriage is known to the Asari culture, i only know the Salarians don't) and have a baby together.
+1 to this option. (Then again, I'm terribly biased in that regard...
I could also see a "five years later" epilogue where you see the Normandy flying into the Citadel, with Shep on his/her way home from a mission. If you qualified for the best romance ending (stayed faithful in ME2, reaffirmed in DLC and/or ME3), you're greeted by Liara and their daughter at the dock. Tear Jerker and Crowning Moment of Heartwarming all in one.

I think that is a great idea, though I would prefer those who cheat on her in ME2 to not even have her as an LI option in ME3. Serves 'em right.
If you romanced Liara in 1, cheated on her in 2, she basically gives you the cold shoulder for the duration of 3 no matter what you do with no Liara ending possible.
I'm not sure this really fits her character though. She's basically expecting Shepard to hate her in ME2, right? Would she really be that surprised if Shepard went with someone else? And since she's obviously still obsessed/in love with Shepard, I can't see her turning him/her away if Shepard truly wanted to come back and make amends. It wouldn't be the same as if Shepard had stayed totally faithful - she'd be very hurt sure. But she also loves Shepard dearly and I don't think a reunion would be totally out of the question. Not easy - "I did ALL this for you and you leave me?" but not impossible.

+100 for this heartwarming idea <3
i might add: why just one, i would want to have more than one blue daughter.

How about just a scene of the happy couple in bed, discussing the future should they survive? Liara could bring up having kids, and Shepard can offer his/her opinion. Renegade interrupt is a "shut up" kiss.
In fact, we need that interrupt in every scene where she starts going on about the Shadow Broker.

Having her being heart broken over seeing you stroll up to her in ME3 with Miranda attached to your hip is much more believable than her actions in ME2.
I also do think that those who "cheated" on her should have to accept the consequences of their choices in the game. Cheating should remove that character as an optional LI in ME3, I don't think Shepard should be allowed to talk his way out of that one just because you have a high Para/Ren score. Encourages multiple playthroughs.

I wanted to add something: I'm perfectly OK about having both Liara and Samara. I know they are both biotics but it perfectly fine with me - it's not like hey would get in the way. I like them both!
Samara was way cool.
She, Miranda, and Mordin were my favorite ME2 squaddies. I would really like them back, but can live with them having good non-squad roles too.
One thing Bioware might do with Samara is, that were you a near 100% Renegade in ME2, she will see herself as honorbound to seek you out and try to kill you in the name of her code.

As long as Liara, Garrus, Legion and Tali are in, you can fill the ranks with whoever else you want. I don't really care. Liara first plix. Get rid of Samara if you like... not awfully struck, I must say.

I *love* ME2's darker Liara. I hope you can develop that (or not, we do need the choice) in ME3, of course I want her in my squad!

I like the idea of the darker Liara, it's a very interesting place to take the character for sure. I just think it doesn't make sense for her to be that way as presented in game. There are too many missing pieces and it's just too far from how she's presented in ME1.
Now if ME1 Shep is totally renegade and romances her, I can see it rubbing off on her.
But she's quite "paragon" as a character in ME1 so I think we need more info. If the Shadow Broker comes after her for stealing the body and she's forced to become this way to survive it makes more sense. I don't think it makes sense for her to be as cavalier about assassinating people as she is presented though. Would need a line or two of dialogue explaining this and perhaps illustrating that she really does not enjoy it. It weighs heavily on her and she really sees no other choice. I'd think she'd have to be as obsessed with Shep as she is with the Shadow Broker though - I'd assume she'd be keeping close tabs on Cerberus' progress with him/her if at all possible.

For me, I think that after you acquire the standard starting human male and female starting squadmates, I think that you'll be contacted by Liara pretty early in ME3. She'll reveal that she's had a massive breakthrough in her hunt for the Shadow Broker, and reveal his alliance with the Collectors and by extension the Reapers. Eradicating the Shadow Broker with Liara will be the first major goal in ME3, and once he has been disposed of Liara is free to join your squad and fight alongside/continue the relationship with you.

Well, seeing how they handled it in ME 3, i would bet the opposite. You might meet her relatively early, but it would still be unclear where you both stand, and only close to the final will the real background revealed and she is free and her barries broken and you can restart the relationship. As so many people want proper closure with their old romances and this will be a massive hook point for the game, i believe they won't use it before close to the climax

I dont know. Liara was kind of crazy in ME2. I stopped doing ehr quest chain cause it seemed she'd completely lost it and became obsessed w/ finding the Shadow Broker. She also became renegade to a disgusting degree, willing to kill 5 people cause she knew one of them ahd to be her target. In ME3, I want the ability to put her down.
Feel guilty now?

Oh the irony of that scene. It does explain her motivation, but not how she became so cruel. She says she didnt become Benezia, but she did. You can tell. Regardless of why she's doing the things she does, or to whatever end, she's ruthless and cruel. She even quotes Benezia. She's also hunting the SB soley for the the purpose of revenge, not for any other reason. That's why I still feel she's gone evil, even after watching that vid.

It would seem really lame to have her ignore the immediate threat of the eradication of all life. If Shepard loves her, he/she is going to want to recruit her/help her as soon as possible. I think you have to give the player that choice to feel natural. Now, maybe she is kidnapped by the Shadow Broker and you have to rescue her or something.
Not letting the player explore their previous relationships until the end of ME3 would feel really lame to me - like the writers are withholding that climax. It makes more sense for them to fight together against the Reapers. I can see Ashely and Kaidan needing time to work their relationship out with Shepard. Liara has known that Shepard was alive, trusts Shepard and possibly knows Shepard still cares for her. They could even do the mind-joining thing and work out their issues in an instant. It could be an awesome and cathartic moment for her character and the player.
Something I would like to see is the romance carry through all of ME3. It's very possible that players will have a love interest from ME2, so you can possibly start the game with a lover. That could play into the plot in very interesting ways. Does Shepard show total favoritism towards his/her love interest? What does the crew think about that?
