We need to organize a concentrated whining campaign to get Liara into ME3 as a squad member.
That worked for them for ME2. Though the devs covered their bases by removing her character shields. It may be wishful thinking, but I think the effectiveness of their nerd rage has abated quite a bit. They have had their fanservice, now it's our turn. And perhaps the turn of Miranda, Thane, Mordin, and other "only squaddie in one game so far" character fandoms.
Now is the time to make our Liara enthusiasm known, however. Before the real design effort for ME3 starts, and major things can still be changed. I'm willing to bet Liara will have a better part in ME3. There's an ok chance for a squaddie role, but I wouldn't dare to assume it's a given. Not after the horrors of her "role" in ME2.
As soon as the devs start interacting with the community again, let's just make our wishes clear. Don't lambaste them and make threats about not buying the game if Liara is not in it. The Tali fools are already making themselves look ridiculous with their entitlement issues and wild misconceptions about her being an "iconic" character. Let them be the ones hankering for a "dating sim" this time and angering the non-romance fans.
Just ask justice for the ME1 LIs, politely but firmly.

Very well said, good Sir. Making Liara addicted fools of ourselves, claiming "give me Liara or i won't buy the game" won't help at all (and is a lousy threat by the way, highly unbelievable, as BioWare very well knows, and will certainly rather decrease than increase the chances of the wishes to be fulfilled)

Two years can change person a lot. Liara was different because she wants revenge for her friend and Shep.
To get back onto this topic, I think it's true that 2 years can change a person a lot.
One issue though is that she had to have started her obsession almost immediately after Shepard's death and there isn't enough time for her to make a huge character change if that's the case.
Plus revenge doesn't really fit the way she's presented in ME1. There either has to be more to it, or she has to be forced into it somehow. It would make sense that the Shadow Broker has been attempting to kill her for 2 years, and so she is forced into this war with him to survive. Her guilt over Shepard and Feron can also play into this nicely. Although I don't buy the total anger if she believes there's any chance Shep will return to life. Some anger, definitely, but not the complete vendetta.
As I've mentioned before, I feel this kind of falls apart once Shep returns though. Shep has to be the crux of it - he/she is the most important person in Liara's life at the end of ME1. If Shep returns and doesn't blame Liara or hate her, then a huge chunk of Liara's motivation has just evaporated.
The game really misses out since it doesn't explore what that means for her character and motivations. She can definitely still feel incredibly guilty about Feron (especially if he sacrifices himself for her and Shep), but you have to figure that the possibility of a reunion would be a huge conflicting emotion for her.
I agree, even if I am willing to accept she would change so completely and drastically in that short a time (which i don't) all motivation for that evaporates once Shep returns.

That is because my girl Liara is a little blue ball of amazing. The last two people on the ship was Joker and Liara. Joker did not want to abandon the ship but Liara did not want to abandon you. I thought that was sweet.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...

I did actually missed a kiss as an option in the opening scenes of ME2 if you imported a Shep that romanced Liara , no you get the option: I gave you an order! instead
or a hug so you don't have to remove the helmet.
I did think that scene was still pretty sweet, though. Liara's reluctance to leave Shepard was pretty heartwarming.
She is also the only one from ME1 that did not go on with her life after the your death because she cared to much to let go.

I'm with you, brother! Just threatening to not buy the game isn't enough.
Listen up, BioWare. If Liara isn't a squad mate in Mass Effect 3, we the followers of Liara will give 100 virgins to an evil volcano god. This is your only warning.
(Note: My posts here are kind of facetious, in case you didn't get the hint there.)

They may not get in the end what they want though. It will be harder for them to have a in-depth story for Tali in ME3 since she could be dead in ME3. Also in ME2 it also sounds like she could become a admiral of the Migrant Fleet so again she can not be with Shep. I would not be shocked if Tali has a much smaller role in ME3.Indoctrination wrote...

Liara though they keep her safe from the suicide mission. Also she is being invested into the story in ways no other memeber is with the Shadow Broker fight. Also since Liara and no other member is the star of the comic series it shows the devs hold her to a high standard. Not only that but the hinted at DLC. Liara was planned from the very start of writting the story to be a LI unlike Tali.
In the end I think Liara fans will be happy but just have to wait longer for our blue beauty.

Well, the "high standard" is certainly debatable.

I'm gonna wait and see what BW does with her. If they don't do a complete hatchet job on the character in the comic I'll feel a little better. Then it is up to BW to make a great and huge expansion pack with her. Then I think I would be happy.

Using her as the poster child in different media outlets. Im am sure one reason for the comic books is to grab more fans of the series so having her as the star makes me think they have a high standard for the character and plan on keeping her around. Only they know though but that is my guess.Nozybidaj wrote...

On the same note, I just take it that BioWare loved her character so much and decided she was perfect for her own medium. Even Casey himself endorsed her.

Also, I was thinking about the special ending with Liara we may get in ME3 if we stayed faithful, and I was thinking that if it showed Shepard and Liara married or with a child then I'd love if the music to that scene would be this version of the song "Vigil", played from 4:29 onwards:

It'd be awesome and a perfect epilogue, in my opinion.

I'm going with the wait and see approach. If they complete the hatchet job or don't give us a chance to bring Liara back to her senses I'll be very disappointed. I just don't trust the ME writers atm to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Exactly, I do firmly believe she has a big part to play in the trilogy, and will have a large role come ME3. Think of how important he has been thus far: she's necessary to find Ilos and the Conduit, she was the one who was dedicated to finding Shepard's body for Cerberus to rebuild him/her, all because "she couldn't let Shepard go", she has her own story in another medium in Redemption. Plus, she's the only squadmate from either game 100% guaranteed to be alive in ME3. She'll have a big part to play in ME3, I'm pretty sure of it.
I believe it too and cuz of that here is another picture of the cutest Asari in the galaxy

This is where ME2 fails as an RPG.
I would have left that whiny smart-alec on the ship and gone into the pod with Liara without a second's hesitation.

Anyone hoping for Liara to have a TOUCH of her new personality? Her saucy little comment of "says the dead spectre working for cerberus" and that little smile was priceless. She's not totally socially inept anymore, just enough to keep the laughs coming I hope.
Just a pinch of it, sure. I'd love for her to show she has matured and grown a bit, just not the full on radical and schitzo Liara.

There aren't enough Liara wallpapers on Google image search (at least not at anything bigger than 1600*1200). I think I'm going to have to take a crack at one.

I think that's not fair to speak of bad RP here. Each game can only present the Illusion of free will, some things have to be canon no matter what to create a game and a story. If Shepard escapes and leaves Joker to die, he/she might return to the Citadel, working as a Spectre, never ended up in Cerberus Laboratory and will be assigned hunting down Geth til the Collector's and the new human Reaper overwhelm the galaxy.
It's just the illusion of a real world, some things have to be canon, especially in the very beginning where you set up a story.
The option to never become a Spectre and simply retire from service would surely make for great freedom of choice, but ME 1 would have been a fairly short game that way

I loved the opening scene. In fact, it's my favorite part of the whole game. Watching Liara run through the burning ship to reach me, her reluctance to leave my side... the whole experience was amazing.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...

Now that I've read the second issue of Redemption, and seen her reaction to Shepard's death, it makes the game's prologue that much more powerful. The art in the comic is wildly inconsistent, but that one frame where you see Liara's horrified expression as the Normandy is destroyed was very well done. Very moving.
