I also want a very emotional scene with her and Shepard. After all it's been 2 years (and counting! thanks BioWare!!!) so I really would like a scene where we catch up on a lot of things and just cuddle and pass the time being with each other (although not too much time, given the reaper threat and all) Then of course a love scene which captures all the tension of such a long time apart. Lastly after we've dealt with the Reaper threat, we should get another lengthy scene culminating in what has to be the most romantic finale ever known to man...

I approve of this message. Except I would have added a <_< after "After all it's been 2 years (and counting! thanks BioWare!!!)" instead of the "!!!". :P

Very good point

I should try that again...I also want a very emotional scene with her and Shepard. After all it's been 2 years (and counting! thanks BioWare <_<)

The days until Liara DLC can seem bleak.
But, can you imagine that we will look back at days like today and laugh about the Liara scene in ME2.
Because when the day comes that we get our massive Liara DLC, that is the world I want to live in.
So pick up the pace BioWare! (I know we have to wait until the rest of the comics come out but I may as well say it).

Anyway, my opinion on the Liara DLC would probably have her returning to normal (or near) after the SB situation is solved. As several people have noted, she has no particular reason to be angry after the situation is resolved.
Even in the ME2 Liara scene there are bits of the old personality in there, I agree it is most likely a facade she puts on because of her whole situation with being an information broker. This could be a possible indicator to the possibility of the renegade/paragon choice that will decide her demeanor forever.
There as always seemed to be a lead into something that had to do with the SB since ME1, at least we know what it will be because of Liara and the way she acts.
Even the way Casey talks about her even when the question is just about ME1 LIs in general, I believe means she has not and will not be forgotten.

Unfortunately, because of the writers trying make her seem like a hardened cold-blooded killer, they now have to think of even harder on how to make the Liara DLC perfect.
I honestly thought that a more practical approach would have had Liara going back to studying the protheans in Shepard's absense. Not that she is a child and knows nothing about the galaxy, I just thought she would have gone back to doing what she enjoyed to deal with Shepard's absense.
I guess they had to make one of the characters find Shepard's body (although it does shows how much Liara cares about Shepard as well), BioWare probably could have just had cerberus find Shepard's body and left Liara out of the picture.

Even though BioWare could have had cerberus find Shepard's body without the help of Liara, we Liara lovers now have a Massive Liara-based DLC coming. So I guess great unexpected things can come out of a seemingly negative situation.

I am going to end this off with an I Love you Liara! (in this regard we apparently have to do Shepard's job for now, lol).

Agreed, and I hope BW rewards those of us who have stayed faithful with some appropriate romance content once we take out the SB. ^_^

Me too. It would totally suck if we didn't get some kind of reward for being faithful, especially since they made it bloody impossible for me to have any of the Shepard's cheat on Liara.

Agreed, I think, if I read you right. :P  None of the new LI's really matched up to Liara, so it wasn't really a hard choice.  Still, having to go through all of ME2 missing one of BW's trademarks for their games was pretty lame.

I did have a single Shep that romanced Tali, but it just wasn't the same.  I need Liara back, the whole game just felt off and uninteresting without her.

I still haven't romanced any of the new LI on my femshep. While I enjoy them as characters I just can't see any of them as possible LI.

Thane - He was interesting but so much baggage and hey, he was dieing.
Garrus - I always saw him as a close friend for my Shepard but nothing beyond that.
Jacob - .... **** no.
So it wasn't really difficult to stay faithful to Liara

Well there were Liara DLC files found in the cooked pc folder. There is also a interview last year where Mac Walters confirmed they will be releasing DLC involving the Redemption comic book and ME2.

"IGN Comics: We know that Bioware is going to be releasing some more downloadable content for the first Mass Effect that sort of bridges the gap between that game and the sequel. Is this comic connected in any
way to those stories?

Walters:
Actually, our goal right now is to have the story tie to some of the downloadable content for
Mass Effect 2. That will probably be coming later next year. I don;t think we have specific dates yet. It's meant to be standalone in the sense that it explores something we don't necessarily see in the game, but it is connected to the game, and in the downloadable content we hope to follow through on some of the events in the comic."

Edit: This interview was from last year so we should hopefully see this DLC sometime this year.

I chalk it up to poor writing.  There are a lot of characterizations in the game that the writers had to basically just throw away real motivations or forget about character integrity to make the story fit.

If Liara was your LI, and she had refused to let you go to the point that she hunted down your body, stole it from the Shadow Broker and handed it over Cerberus on the off chance they could ressurrect you, she wouldn't have just completely blown you off, never mentioned how she felt, or done nothing at all to try and find some way for the two of you to be together.  Shepard wouldn't have just been completely emotionless through the whole thing, he would have asked questions and pressed her for answers, he would have tried to at the very least reaffirm their feelings before running a few errands for her then saying "see ya later Liara".

Of course if they had done all that, the fact that she isn't an LI in ME2, the fact that she isn't recruitable, that all starts to fall apart once they start to act like real people, so what to do?  Just ignore it basically is what they did.  I'm sure they had to know this ahead of time.  The best we can hope for is some sort of expansion or dlc or something that is going to make up for it.

Mox, your worst case scenario hypothesis up there is pretty unlikely, IMO. Once the SB has been taken care of, Liara no longer has a reason to be an information broker.

Heh, that was not the worst case scenario. Oh no...

But you are applying Earth Logic to the situation. There was no reason Liara shouldn't have been more glad to see Shepard in ME2, after all, except writer fiat. Yes, her office was tapped. But the Shadow Broker has to know of the affection between Shepard and her, so what's the big deal about showing it? She also talks quite openly about wanting to kill him, and of sending Shepard to track down his "Observer". The IS no story reason. Or to not join Shepard, who twice asks for her help, when she knows what s/he's doing is probably critically important. Nope, her personal vendetta takes precedence.

The writers can cook up some random excuse for her to not join very easily. "Oh, I can serve your needs much better by digging for information, now that I'm the best in the business. I'd like to join, but I can't." Actually, her ludicrously quick rise to prominence in the field put aside, that would be a better reason than her not joining you in ME2, which was just an obsessive personal desire for revenge.

If anything, I think that any hypothetical Paragon/Renegade influence with Liara in ME3 will be a choice between comforting her and helping her return to her old compassionate, gentle personality (Paragon) or encouraging her to embrace her tough, ruthless angry facade (Renegade) in a take on the "Becoming the Mask" trope.

Possibly, but I don't know if the devs will take her back. They probably see the "darker" and "edgier" Liara as "natural evolution of her character", or some other rubbish like that. I don't doubt she'll calm down somewhat when the SB is taken out, but we won't be going back to the good old days with her. The violent and ruthless attitude is here to stay, I think.

This scenario isn't something I'd like to see happen, by any means. And I hope it won't. I want Liara in my squad in ME3 as much as anyone else on these boards.

But I can't help to think that since they've now established her in that new role, which can easily be used for many plot and quest related functions in ME3, they will once again cater to the wishes of someone else, some other groups of character fans, and be content to keep Liara as an information broker. It's the easy way out. We'll get to "romance" her a bit, and there will be some "conclusion" about promising to meet after the Reaper threat is over or something.

I think Shep is going to be kidnapped by 3 Asari commando's working for the SB and Liara the biotic godess will kick blue and possibly green butts to rescue the commander, then we will see how dark she can be when someone besides her touches Shepard Posted Image

Never happen but it would be cool to see. I can see it now Shep is tied to a chair with the SB thugs all around. Liara kicks open the door starts throwing bodies left and right.

I also think the Asari commando's would have a hard time resisting Shep's charms Posted Image
So Liara must really hurry and rescue the commander (or not) Posted Image

Let's not start with Tali, lest the spamming starts here too.

PS: Started a new game with ME 1 lately, and it's refreshing, it all feels so much better. Looking forward to rescuing Liara. ^_^
