If she believed Cerberus and went through all that effort to find Shepard, would she just casually jump into another relationship if she was involved with Shepard? It makes little sense.

Agreed. But the comic doesn't really handle Liara all that well. I wouldn't be surprised if the writer contrives Liara to have a fling with the vile desert lizard.

I don't believe a "fling" will occur in the comics. I do believe Liara will stay loyal considering she knows that Cerberus will be able to rebuilt you and bring you back to life. The lengths she goes through to get you back just shows me she was very loyal to you and loves you to bits. Her drell friend would have clearly seen this and how obsessed she is with getting you back. The drell is a friend to her yes, but I see it more like me and Garrus or Tali, good old buddies fighting together thats all, nothing more.

A Liara/Feron fling wouldn't bother me too much.  My Shepard is a sexy b*tch and will be able to win Liara back no problem.  I doubt it's going to happen, though.

It's a given; no questions asked, Liara is an ME3 squadie. Or else Bioware will feel my wrath.

I hope it doesn't occur, would be rather tactless for them to throw her into a new romance literally weeks after Shepard has died.

It would just be a 'rebound' type fling.  It happens all the time.  Grief makes people do crazy things.

Liara is a wonderfully complex character who should have a prominent roll in ME3. It is a shame so many people missed her dialog option in ME2, where you get to see her vulnerability and now no longer like her. I welcomed the change though was first puzzled by it but once you get her back story it makes sense.

Her love/unrequited love for Shepard is the best part. It doesn't matter whether she was Shepards love interest or not. She still saves Shepard none the less. Where was Tali? Wrex? Ashley? Kaiden? Garrus? They were all perusing their personal goals. It was Liara who didn't give up on Shepard in the same way Shepard never gives up against overwhelming odds. They compliment each other as lovers or friends and this enriches the plot. She wasn't even a prominent character in ME2 yet forums on several sites abound with threads about the small part she had. That's powerful.

ME3 needs Liara and the complexity her character would bring to the plot.

YES!  Very well said, fellow Liara fan.

I gotta say.... this thread has given me a spark of hope.  There has been so much negativity targeted at Liara on this forum in the past week, I was starting to think that the entire fanbase had turned against her.  And to find a thread with so many people defending her with passion and intelligence.... it really warms my heart.

I just hope the devs see this thread.  They seem to be ignoring the spoiler forum.

And if anyone hasn't seen the VERY important cutscene at the end of Liara's mission.... the one that ecplains her somewhat detached behavior, and shows just how dedicated to Shepard she is... click here.  And have some tissues ready.

I like Liara a little more now, her character has some duality about it which makes her much more interesting. I was really hoping to see her play a bigger role in ME 2. However, this just gives me a little more reason to look forward to ME 3. I would love to be able to have her as a Squad Mate again. Tali kicks ass too.

Agreed.  I'm even looking forward to a potencial Tali vs Liara jealousy scene for male Sheps in ME3.  Paragon action: Can't we just have a 3 way?  Renegade:  *bi!chslap*.  :)

No, sorry.  If I have to put up with all these other changes don't think I could buy that.  That would be the straw breaking the camel's back here.

Well, from what I've seen the negativity hasn't actually been directed AT Liara, just in the direction the character was taken.  That is a fairly important distinction to make. ^_^

Thank you!  ^_^  This thread gave me hope too.  The backlash is insane and I just don't understand it when they have scene the full dialog or the comic.  I start to wonder if it's an issue with critical reading skills.  :P

I don't doubt that she'll be in ME3.  I just worry about how much we will see her.  It will disapoint me to the core if she isn't a squad mate even though there is a lot of evidence that points to the possibility I'm still scared just because it wouldn't be the first game that shafted my fave character.

Well hopefully the devs do see this thread!  We must keep it alive!!

I actually sent PMs to few of the mods, asking whether giving us only one chance to see Liara's "breakdown" scene was a bug or not.  I never got a response, though.

As for having a favorite character ruined..... I think we've all been there.

EDIT:  Yay!  Happy Liara!  Image IPB I love that screencap.  It's my 2nd favorite, I think.  The one you and I have as desktops is still numero uno.

A small "N7" in an intimate place?

As soon as I read this, I wanted to do it. Mox is evil.

Here's my take. The SB is like the Dread Pirate Roberts. You kill him or cause him to flee and "congratulations"--you are the Shadow Broker.

The whole interaction with my Asari luvah made me queasy. There is something dark here under the surface and it's not that she's been hardened.

I also can't fault her for growing up. After all, she ran around the galaxy with me while I shot people in the head. A lot. Then there was the who Citadel battle thing.

Liara simply needs a hug. Yes, many hugs. And a tattoo.

That picture is from ME2 right? They did a wonderful job with her graphics this time.

And the dialouge options were like Liara's needs in the upper right, and Anger at SB in lower left. You want to choose the anger option first, otherwise it disappears after you hear her needs and you can't get that option again.

I love your take on the shadow broker!  That would be verrrrry interesting.

I think there is more to it as well and I hope they won't get lazy and write it out sloppily or not at all in ME3.  I wants details!

Mmmmm Liara tattoo.

Details please! Maybe not completely revealing the SB, but at least more about how she got involved and was able to get Shepards body and why now the SB wants her dead.

Well, we can guess that the SB wants her dead b/c Liara stole his/her prize that the SB intended to sell to the Collectors.

(My covert attempt at a bump.)

Well, the new issue of the Redemption comic comes out today, so maybe we'll find out some more about this whole Liara vs. the Shadow Broker situation.

Yeah, I'd get the Redemption comic. Also, if someone hasn't noticed it, they are giving away the first issue on iTunes.
