Question, (and this may have already come up, so apologies), but both Joker and Kelly comment on your all too brief encounter w/ Ashley (or Kaiden). Why doesn't anyone comment on your encounter w/ Liara? Do they comment and I just missed it? Thanks.

Nope.

It's as if Liara was never part of the crew, or Shepard's lover. I think pretty much only one who mentions her history as a member of your crew, is TIM in the beginning, when you can weakly argue for wanting to recruit your old squad, until TIM pooh poohs such silly thoughts away from poor Shepard's mind with his irrefutable and ironclad arguments.

Think of it like this, TIM was getting information about The Collector's somehow.

Anyone want to think up a "character sheet" for a hypothetical Liara squaddie of ME2?

What weapon skills would she have? What two main power skills, what "character" skill, and last but not least, what unlockable unique power skill?

Its good to see a fair number of folks in the thread about "worst possible news you could hear about ME3" basically saying "The ME1 LIs get another **** role/arent squadmates".

Warp, Singularity, Overload or something similer as her loyalty would be most fitting taken from what she had in ME1 The class power is pretty standard fair reduced cooldown, extra hp/damage type thing.

A lot of people are. Those who didn't like the ME1 LIs aren't pleased either, tho in their case it's simply more bashing of the characters. Even people who think the new developments are plausible, agree that the writing simply isn't on the required level for the ME1 LIs.

It is one of the common complaints about the story and writing of ME2 itself, of which there are many, BTW. Many people are of the mind that it isn't the "ME1 killer" Bioware bragged about in terms of storytelling at least, even if they prefer the new combat or other features.

Warp and throw

Asari scientist again, that either strengthens her barrier, or her biotic powers.

Unique power? Since Samaras is a tweaked warp power, Id probably say she should have something along the same lines as singularity. Maybe some sort of crush or vortex power, that either sucks in one enemy for heavy damage (similar to slam maybe) or more of an improved radius singularity, that groups up multiple enemies (singularity in ME2 is pretty pathetic, so Liaras would probably more closely resemble the awesome ME1 singularity).

I've been thinking of having her go with no weapons, since she has no training for them in the first game. Perhaps the class power would allow individual cooldowns for her powers? And Overload is a must. Take down the shields, make them bounce around with the biotics.

Funny you should say that, since thats exactly what I was going for. What little role she plays in the comic and ME2 suggests Liara is a massive hitter when it comes to biotics now. Her talk about Nyxeris as well and how her barriers needed work.

I just thought her class should be based around a massive biotic heavy hitter.

Of course thats hard to do with ME2s neutered squadmate powers, where they all only have a pittance. Guess they didnt want to frighten shooter idiots with allies having a wider array of powers to choose from.

Good.  Maybe this will spurn them to make some appropriate expansion content for the ME1 LI's so we actually get a second chapter in our "three chapter love story".

I agree with this.  Giving Liara 3 biotic powers (including the loyalty one) puts her on par with Samara in ME2 as far as number of biotic powers.  All other biotic users have 2 biotic powers, plus an ammo or tech power.

Any reason for throw instead of lift?  Just curious.

Agree, I wouldn't mind seeing pull instead of throw, but maybe throw or slam would fit the new attitude better.
