It makes them much better characters in the long run and makes the romance more meaningful.

So you're happy that Liara served no part in 1/3 of the trilogy and feel that having no second chapter of the romance made it more meaningful.  Good for you.  The rest of us are disappointed that the game took one of our favorite characters and strongest emotional ties to the game and threw it out the window.  I'm more than happy to agree to disagree.

I rather find it interesting, actually. Kaidan/Ashley are angry at you but send you a message explaining themselves later on. Liara is honest with her intentions. She reveals even more if you do her tasks. I am glad she does not go all mooshy and jumps your bones into melding mode... that would have made me angry. The fact she is stronger now and does something she believes in to avenge both you and a friend is a nice twist to her character.

The more comics of the Revelation series will come out, the more fleshed out her reasoning will be.  And I bet the new novel in april? will also reveal more insight into things we do not yet understand.

Liara in ME2 is good imo... she just needs more content after Redemption is done (ie.... Special mission with her to help her friend or attack the SB) I am not 100% satisfied with her in ME2 - then again 100% satisfaction is blisss unattainable unless you are a TALI FAN (sorry, had to do it) - but I am pretty happy with what they did... Of course I would lie if I said I did not want more from the character in DLC/ME3.

Dont worry about Surface, hes just butthurt that his main Liara criticism flew out the window when it was applied to nearly every ME2 romance.

Though hed never let you know that and criticise the game for it, since hes a hypocritical butt licker.

I think what is there of Liara is passable and plausible, though her complete obsession with the SB isn't exactly endearing.  If she had shown how this obsession is hard for her it would be one thing, but she seems to revel in her hate for the SB.

It is what is not there that ruined the whole thing.

I'm still dreading what the comic is going to reveal, there is too much hate and angst there for all of it to simply be because of him trying to sell Shepard's body.  If that is what was driving her a lot of that anger and resentment should have washed away seeing Shepard again.  The fact that hunting down the SB and getting revenge for what he did to her "friend" is more important to her than seeing Shep again after two years has terrible implications for how I am going to react to whatever is left to reveal in the comics.

Aye, which is why I believe Liara DLC is inevitable, and will be released shortly after the last issue of Redemption comes out, to ride on the wave of publicity and excitement so to speak.

If you've seen the tali thread, they are on 800 pages, so no dice Nozybidaj;)

I'd be very surprised if Liara wasn't in ME3 as a squadmate.  Between the comic and what she's up to with the Shadow Broker, my guess is Shepard will at the very least be instrumental in helping take the SB down.

And helping to save Feron as well *hopefully*

I love you too Dink :D And I'm enjoying the new romances quite a bit thank you. Especially Thane. He's my husbandu.

And butthurt? I think not. I've already played ME2 more in 3 weeks than I did ME2 since it came out. And the scary thing is, I'm not even completely bored of it yet. Easily the best Bioware game since Baldur's Gate 2.

And seriously, what's with the hostility. I'm not trolling or lying when I say that I hope Liara can be in ME3 as a joinable squad mates. I'm bumping your thread. I'm trying to have fun with people here. Why is any hint of positivity immediately have to be squelched and considered 'trolling'?

edit: @LesEnfantsTerribles I didn't read what you said, which I'm glad of. This thread doesn't deserve to be locked because of unwarranted hostility among Liara lovers and their supporters.

Back on the old forums, there was nothing Evil Chris enjoyed more than locking ME1 love interest threads. I bet the odds are pretty high that he's watching us closely, his finger hovering over the mouse button, eager to send this thread into digital oblivion.

As much as I appreciate Surface's contribution to the thread, let's not give him the satisfaction of causing the downfall of this oasis of Liara fandom.

Yeah but most of that is just inane jibberish, "bumping thread", and posting random pictures.  There is more actual discussion in 100 pages of Liara than in 800 of Tali.  Quality and substance over shallow quantity.  Just like their in game romances. :o

Seriously Surface? You cant look at yourself and think "boy, arent I the big hypocrite" after you spewed venom at Liaras character in ME1 for being too reliant on being romanced? Shouldnt you be saying the same thing about ME2, since at least 4 possible romances hardly have any dialogue that isnt romance related?

You had a chance back on the old forum when it was unknown if the new squad was going to be an "improvement". Now that they arent, maybe you should give it up trying to make Liaras character look bad, since her ME1 role had far more plot importance than the entire ME2 squad, and actually still had dialogue once you turned her down.

I think if Surface wants to join the conversation and support Liara I am more than happy about it.  But, Surface, coming in and calling Liara fans troglodytes and trying to incite people is clearly trolling.

If you want to join us please do. :D  Just keep it civil and on topic please.

EDIT: And to the others, lets not turn this into a Tali-like thread.  If Surface rubs you the wrong way just ignore him.

I agree. The Tali thread is 795 pages worth of absolutely no content other than *picture*-unintelligent gibberish-*more pictures*-the occasional zealot-*more pictures*- a bumper*- more unintelligent gibberish.

I hate to sound mean, but there is probably 5 pages tops of actually meaty discussion about something actually readable.

Agreed.  Back on topic.  I still think, even if we give that the Liara as presented in ME2 is acceptable, that they need to do something prior to ME3 for all the ME1 LI's.  Otherwise ME1 LI's are being penalized unfairly by not having a continuing romance in the second chapter.

ME2 LI's would get a very natural progression into ME3 while folks who want to keep their ME1 LI's now need to spend time trying to repair and jumpstart their relationships.  A big expansion to include Liara and something for the other LI's as well is really needed to make sure all the relationships are on equal footing before jumping into ME3.

My biggest concern for ME3 at this point is that I'll have to spend the whole damn thing just trying to get back to where I was at the end of ME1.  That would be a terrible injustice to the ME1 fans.

I'm not solely a Liara fan, but I like to show support to the five favorites :)

After a reading a few Tali pages, you're either impressed or scared to all hell :P What I love about Liara and Kaidan fans are the maturity and substance of the posts, as well as a bit of fun.

Honestly, though, carrying over my Liara romance has been difficult. There is nothing other than the photo on the desk to show if Liara's romance will continue.. Shepard doesn't get to express her love for Liara, neither does Liara encourage anything beyond the reasons behind her SB obsession.

The scene is left vague, and meant for both romanced and non-romanced Liara, but I wish they put a little more effort into the scene.

I know this must have been mentioned on this thread before, so please bear with me :)

I'm not trying to antagonize honest! I made an analogy that Liara was a succubus that ensnared you all with thoughts of her sexy head tentacles. But it's true! Don't lie and tell me you don't want to gently caress them!

Speaking of, since we know now that Asari in some way psychicly influence others around them, to alter their perception of what the Asari look like, what do you all think that Liara looks like for real?

Is this old news? Sorry if it is. It's nice to have some real-world evidence of Liara's popularity. I just hope the comic's success means a return to the squad for Liara in ME3, not just more comic books.

That's quite alright. That's why we are here, to make sure that things go better in the future. I can't wait for ME3 and the Liara DLC.

Was posted in the devs dropped the ball thread I think, or it might have been the dlc thread. But yeah I've seen it.  Just a PR interview really, he even mentions how well her new attitude has been received, lol.  They obviously aren't gauging fan reactions. :P  But yes, it is good to see that the comic is selling well, hopefully that encourages BW to go all out with a Liara expansion.

I have no gripe about Liara as a person but I can't stand her voice. For this reason alone I don't mind her being in ME3 but at least keep the low nasaly sweet girl voice to a minimum. To me it is like nails on chalkboards. It is what kept me from romancing her through ME1. However I can tolerate her voice in ME2 as she is a little bit more high pitched and has a less hum and more upbeat tone.

There is also something about Garrus im not too fond of when he talks. He doesn't talk with the purpose he talked with in ME1.

I don't care if you utterly hate the way I think, just at least respect the opinion.
