The only thing that made me mad about the little face masks everyone wore was that I got stuck with the ugly full helmet. Fair is fair. Where's my rebreather?

I'm pretty much fed up with this 'outfits' thing ME2 has by now lol. We need characters with armor customization - not as much as Shepard sure, but its still needed. And helmets.

What squadmates are wearing into battle gets me so angry. Mirandas *clothing* should be her casual wear, not what she wears while fighting giant mechs and human-reapers. Grrrr.

Space is 2.725 Kelvin, converting that it's -455 F and -270 C, incase you don't know that's damn cold. Extremely cold, being exposed to the vacuum of space is almost always going to lead to certain death. The writers could've put something that subverts that in the codex, but they didn't. When it isn't stated you can either pretend or go realistic. Reality says that unless it was a sealed environment that you would probably die. Reality also says that people can't be brought back from the dead, particularly after burning up in a planet's atmosphere, take that how you will.

Funny thing is if you watch the art video, the guy says he made hundreds of helmets. So much so that he got tired of making them. Even funnier when we have a choice of three helmets(one DLC) in the game, not counting the full body DLC armors. Where are all these other helmets at?

BioWare will release a DLC for $29.95 that gives you new helmets and lets you toggle off the helmet display in conversation.

And we will all buy it.

Miranda is a biotic, so her barrier would protect her, and we have no idea as to whether salarian physiology allows them to survive with just a simple mask like that.

Yes, this definitely bothered me as well. I remember specifically switching out Miranda and restarting one of the missions simply because the "space suit" she was wearing completely broke the game's atmosphere.

About Grunt's biceps, I believe it's stated several times that Krogan can survive pretty well in harsh environments, and even in space due to their biology.

In any case, I remember an old beloved anime in which flags actually flew in space. It was still awesome, so who cares :D

Don't forget that every teammate has some kind of shield or barrier. You see shields plugging holes in ships intact all the time. For double protection for infantry, in a vacuum an active shield helps prevent loss of pressure or air if the suit gets punctured.

Abriael isn't that anime called Captain Herlock or something like that? If it was, that anime was awesome and the Dolphinus a ship in Skies of Arcadia was based on one of their designs. Awesome game as well, I might add.

The only way to lose heat in space is by radiation, an extremely slow process that would take many hours before damage occurs according to NASA scientists, far longer with a functioning metabolism replacing the lost heat. Space is a vacuum... it isn't going to "feel" cold, just like million+ degree plasma which has a density of a few molecules a cubic meter doesn't feel hot (or burn you). VY Canis Majoris is the largest known star, it has a radius the size of Saturn's orbit around our sun. Its density is also so low you could WALK through it and live, something like 40,000x less dense than our own atmosphere.
http://en.wikipedia....Y_Canis_Majoris

The liquid on your eyes would instantly boil away due to the low pressure though and I doubt your eardrums would be very happy.

Yes, the face masks are dumb. No, the cold isn't a problem.

Sorry, but their eyes would not explode, and their skin would not rupture and bleed unless they were close enough to a star and they were burning. However, the fact remains that they should still be covering their eyes and ears, because their eardrums would rupture, and space would get into tears ducts/eyes and cause bad things.

They would, however, die after a couple of minutes from hypothermia. Except maybe inside the collector ship. Or other indoor area's.

as above stated. heat loss isn't such an issue, but eye and ear coverage would be, and the collector ship at least definitely is exposed to vacuum at the start of the level-additionally, wouldn't the lack of pressure cause swelling/discomfort in exposed body parts?
Though I totally accept the forearms with Grunt, Krogan can survive nearly anything

This is especially funny when you go to the migrant fleet, where the point of the extra protection is to stop contamination, yet large amounts of hair and skin stay exposed (lots of skin and less hair if you brought Jack, like I did Posted Image) meaning that opposite-chiralty hairs and skin flakes would be left everywhere, with their attendant opposite-chiralty bacteria
Am I right in thinking that Garrus is the only one apart from Shep and Tali who's completely covered when in those environments? (assuming his environmental seals are still okay after that machine-gunning and rocket)

I'd like to second this, specifically I want my Drell-style vacuum balaclava

This is probally off topic.. but another thing that kinda doesn't make sense is when you're doing Legion's loyalty quest he says there's a lack of gravity and air on the station, but yet you still stay firmly planted on the ground... <_<

Kinda makes no sense considering my biotic Shepard died in space because his helmet leaked. If Miranda can protect her eyes with a biotic seal, then couldn't Shepard have used his biotic powers to seal the leak in his helmet?

It's not about the helmets. But the hard suits. In some cases, it would have made sense if the characters were wearing hard suits.

Hey, but it's a videogame. And as it was mentioned the only scene where there is a real vacuum, is on the Normandy.
