On finishing my latest Elf girly I found I was being stopped from uploading as Bioware/EA considers her name, "Saera" to be a profanity.
I don't mind about being stopped, but I am slightly annoyed that the Bioware/EA filter knows more naughty words than me. As a truly horrific, depraved and creatively foul person I find this deeply upsetting.
So; I'm curious. Anyone know why this is such an incredibly uncivilised word it's not fit for the social site of an 18+ game?
"Saera" a profanity?

Wow "saera"... yeah... last time someone called me that, I completely lost control. You should be careful, you could get banned for using that word on the forums. It's even worst than those "4-letter words", since it is... you know, 5 letters and all. All I can say about it is... don't ever say that word to a civil engineer or a zookeeper, if you value your life.

I'm considering writing it on a sandwich board and then standing on the street, waiting for someone to hit me.
Then asking them.
Then hospital.

The same thing happened to a friend of mine who tried to name one of her characters Brannigan.
Seriously? Brannigan? That's only a profanity at Planet Express.

Maybe it's because Brannigan has "niga" in it. If so, that is ludicrous.Randy1083 wrote...

Anyway, try as I might, I can't even think of a reason for the filter to take offence at "Saera". Maybe it's a swearword in another language, or maybe it's a bug.

I put this in the other "profanity" thread. I always name my paladin type character "Saeran" and it got rejected, too. So, yeah, a little bit draconian.

Don't quote me, but some games label a name as "offensive" when in actuality it is a name of a dev or GM.
So they don't want people to pretending to be them.

I have tried for 2 weeks to get my character to upload and each time it has timed out. Then magically today it decided to connect and try to upload. Guess what I get. Your name is considered profanity? Seriously? CyberKhan ???? In what way or shape is that at ALL considered profane? In any language? I have used this name for the last 25 years playing internet games and have never had a problem, so WTF BIoware, fix this crap.

Wow. Maybe just name your characters truly profane things and it will be allowable?

Well, just use normal names, i named one of my chars after my brothers soon-to-be-wife, just couse i could think of anything else to name her..
Heve to still tell her that, just to see how'd she react(hey! i named one of my gaming chars after u! she's an elf and likes to beat ppl to death and boil their blood! cool eh?) hehe.
