Yeah, sounds like this is a good patch to skip for now.

Also note that the patch breaks all downloadable content, bonus items etc as they require version 1.0

You may be ok if you had already downloaded it, I only just got the game this morning (in UK) and as I saw a patch was out I installed it right away before I had downloaded any of my extra stuff.

* slightly increased attack, defense, and damage scores for all party members at Normal difficulty
with this, no need to play on normal.

Steam must have already updated the game for me since that was on the update news was posted.

My game worked fine: Not using the Launcher. I created a shortcut to start the game from my desktop. This worked.

Yeah, if it's the Play button on the launcher that's causing problems, just start the game directly from the daorigins.exe file. It's in the "bin_ship" folder that's within your base Dragon Age install directory. Steam version is something like Steam Folder\\username\\common_apps\\game folder\\bin_ship
(I could be totally wrong on the steam version, I'm going off memory as to how steams folder structure works)

Patched Impulse version launches fine from the installer, at least for me it does.

Clarification: The patch works fine (at least for me). I'm using a Direct2Drive download of the DAO:DDE. Note: the patch DID break my shortcut in the "games" folder, and the copy of said shortcut I had on my desktop, I simply went to the Program Files\\\\Dragon Age directory and make a shortcut to "DAOriginsLauncher.exe" and run the game from that. At least for me, that fixed my inabilty to start the game. Clicking the shortcuts basically did nothing at all. That may end up needing a small micro-patch to fix it. Edit:
I don't believe this patch is "skippable for now" some of us were facing the total re-creation of characters we made in the CC, and the wasting of innumberable hours trying to re-create them, and we effectively couldn't play with the characters we wanted. I'm guessing most of you lack MMO experience, these kinds of patching and issues happen ALL the time, if there's anything else wrong, there'll be a 1.01.1 patch in a day or two. I'm sure the DLC will either be updated to require 1.01 (meaning you'll HAVE to pach) or it'll be set to accept either, OR, more likely it just means the DLC requires AT LEAST 1.0.

So how much of a buffer are we looking at for party stats? If it's anything significant I may have to bump up the difficulty. I was quite enjoying normal as-is, but I patched because of the known data corruption issues...

Patched, and now suddenly my game became unplayable.
It just is too slow to respond to commands (had no issues before patch).
Hopefully reducing graphics will help (been playing on max settings till now).

Patch installed and everything is fine with me. I even downloaded and installed Warden's Keep DLC after installing the patch and I had no problems. Nothing's broken.

Hmm... bit of a bugger this. "* fixed potential corruption of character statistics", but may break the game? (Play button issue). Devs or anyone else found a workaround for this yet?

Just got the game, but haven't installed yet, so I was wondering which is the best option ...
a: Install game, patch, then download extra content
or
b: Install game, download extra content, then patch
Cheers Alderak

I've heard some rumors about this patch disabling or breaking DLC since it says it requires ver 1.0. Can anyone that's already downloaded this confirm? Or better yet, can a BioWare person confirm or deny?
Hopefully, I'll get a straight answer before I get home from work and get to play.

Might be an immensely stupid question - but how do I know there's a patch and how do I get it? I thought there would be a message in the "download content" area of the game and I could download it from there ... but there's nothing.
Or is there nothing because it's the European (UK) version of the game and the patch is not yet out for it?

Oddly enough after installing this patch my real issue disappeared. Even though it was absolutely not mentioned in the patch.
Maybe it was rather my nth re-install though, so I don't know.

Oddly enough this patched fixed and issue for me. The lack of DLC access. It could also have been my nth re-install so I don't know.
